Show Me a Hero: Season 19
Aug 23, 2015
It is a treat to watch this well-cast and well-directed story. You are being carefully shown integral characters in the first episodes, a ramp-up to the big events. Informative aerial shots and maps outline the geographic and social dilemmas confronting the new mayor and truly the entire community. It's the solid, immovable core of supporting characters, the well-intended citizens caught in the heat of their own convictions that make this such compelling viewing. A fascinating insight into the mores and evolving ethics of the age!

Humans: Season 17
Aug 9, 2015
Fun ride, but the "who should I care about" question loomed large in this series with no actual protagonist coming to the fore. Very seamlessly shot, great ensemble cast and good direction made it easy to watch. The overarching question was -- should humans allow sentient robots -- so philosophical that it got lost in the "excitement" of the chase. Next season should get the "meat" of this introduction season.

Deutschland 83: Season 110
Aug 9, 2015
This is my first ten, and I don't even like listening to German. This goes beyond don't-miss television -- it should be required viewing in history classes and at independent film festivals alike. The ensemble cast is tightly directed to deliver credibility in what was an unbelievable time in world history. Ludwig Trepte shines in a demanding pivotal role linking several story arcs. Costuming and locations are spot-on, and the series encapsulates the terror and the excitement of that year perfectly. The realism particularly of the atmosphere, offices, technology and mindset of the East German security agency bureaucrats of that era is poignant and so very well done. Highest praise. I'd be surprised if producers aren't eyeing an American re-make. Brilliant.

Mr. Robot: Season 19
Aug 9, 2015
This series shows interjects compelling life events for our protagonist which pepper the traditional story arc with believable twists that keep every scene must-watch. It's a fun ride, full of "oh no way, they did not go there" moments which show admirable confidence by the producers in the writing team. Great viewing suffering only from a slightly off-putting title which gets the "yeah right" response from friends when I recommend it. Love it.
