Finally knocked off The Witcher 3, The Last of Us 1 and 2, Spiderman, and bodies Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Two of the greatest games ever made are RPGs, march the beat of their own drummer, and represent everything good about gaming with maximum quality and no microtransactions!
Combines the team and class nature of Overwatch, the gunplay of COD and PUBG, and the skins/emotes/loot from Fortnite. Absolutely no pay-to-win, as all of the rewards are cosmetic. The guns feel superb, maybe a bit more arcadey than COD (the guns are pretty tight and remind me more of Halo). Great features: jumping together as a team so the loner doesn't ruin your time. Pinging the map from the game (not the map screen) is an amazing feature than every game now needs. The mods auto-equipping if they are better than what you have and if you have the spot open on your weapon is just such a great feature. And when you switch weapons, it will auto-switch the mods. Bad features: honestly almost none. Maybe the reload time is a bit too long? (but that just encourages you to pursue extended clips and rewards those who do) And yeah, the elephant in the room is that EA owns Respawn, but they seem to have their hands out of this one unlike Anthem, which already appears to be a full-priced game with microtransactions. This game does the MTs just like Fortnite, which is totally ok in my book. You can play the game perfectly well with them and enjoy them if you get them.

This is the best Fire Emblem game ever and my favorite turn-based strategy game (surpassing XCOM, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, Into the Breach, Advance Wars, and all the rest). Great storyline and well-developed characters. Superb replay value with the three houses and branching storylines. I love the direction Nintendo has taken with the last three Fire Emblems, and so happy to finally have it back on my TV *and* on the go at the same time!
Just here to encourage everyone to play this game if they are even remotely interested in the genre or cyberpunk. It is very well done, pretty relaxing, makes you think and laugh, and doesn't overstay its welcome.
The game had a good premise and looked like something I would enjoy. For example, I thought Soma had a decent story but mediocre gameplay and a slow first half. I thought Outlast 2 had decent horror but still was just a ok/good game. This game has cyberpunk and dystopia, but the gameplay is pretty atrocious. It absolutely definitely feels like a 20-year-old game, warts and all. I gave it enough time to see if I would like it, but it was too much time, honestly. It was simply boring and reading the summary of the story was more than enough to escape the poor gameplay.

SCORE: 83/100 This is a solid game that is fun for anyone that is a fan of this series in particular or the ever-popular action-adventure genre in general. It felt a bit empty, there was not enough combat, there was far too much jungle, and the story was just ok. It has nothing on God of War, Spiderman, or even Assassin's Creed Origins. They somehow made some small improvements and nods, but it still didn't feel like enough. Is it a good, fun game? Of course it is. This is a good game to get the complete edition for $20. That is worth it. I'll never buy another Tomb Raider for more then twenty bucks.
I've been all-in on Civilization since II. I still think Civ VI has the best foundation (even better than V), and I've always enjoyed the graphical direction that VI took. The AI is still the weak spot, and I really hope they address the AI front and center with the almost definite second xpac, in keeping with previous release schedules. The governors seem great so far and you can go deep or wide with them, setting up low-level governors across your empire, or pumping up a couple to keep a rebellious city reined in, or absolutely maximize that city's focus. The late game is still a bit slow, but it always has been in every Civ. I'm not sure how to remedy this.
This is one of the greatest games of all time and could be number one. The way the refined a legendary formula with the most open-world, do-anything experience is refreshing in a sense no other game can handle. The story is weak, but everything else is 10/10 or better.

Of course, this isn't a full-fledged 3DS game, but it is one of the best free-to-play games and adaptations of real games. I haven't spent a dollar on it, yet I have a stable of 30+ level 40 5-stars and no shortage of things to do.
I have a 1080ti and an ultrawide and play all the major AAA games and Horizon Zero Dawn is the best looking game ever made. It tops Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Watch Dogs 2, and even Uncharted 4. The game itself is brilliant. I liked it more than Shadow of War, Assassin's Creed Origins, Dying Light, Batman trilogy, Deus Ex, Dishonored 2, and more. Only a few games, for me, entered the territory of HZD - Zelda Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, and Persona 5.
First off, Steamworld is an amazing universe. Image and Form have crafted it with love and humor, and I've really enjoyed my time in it. Steamworld Dig 1 and 2 were both polished game loops that were just fun. Steamworld Heist blew me away because it really was XCOM in 2D, but much cuter, funnier, and fairer. Steamworld Dig 2 is a great sequel because it improves on the first one in every way AND doesn't overstay its welcome with padding. It is concise and respects your time and skill, but has an amazing amount of replayability and collectible-hunting if desired.
The best Assassin's Creed game by a mile, and maybe the best Ubisoft game. The combat is exceptional. Think Witcher 3 with more weapons (though this is not on the level of that game, but few are). The world feels as alive as any world ever, up there with GTA V, Witcher 3, and The Last of Us. Graphics are top notch. And no bugs!!!

This is Dishonored 2.5, with a conclusion to the story of the first two games. I really enjoyed more of the Dunwall and its universe, and its expertly crafted levels, excellent variety of ways to play, and great ambiance and world building. Other games say it, but the Dishonored franchise really truly lets you resolve situations multiple ways, and each humongous level is a mini-open-world with tons of these choices. A lovely experience and I'm looking forward to the next new IP from Arkane, although I would gladly play another Dishonored if they found a way to do it.

SCORE: 9/10 First off, the game is an improvement in every way from Shadow of Mordor - better combat, more varied environments, better graphics, better world building, better use of your followers, and no QTEs. It is a derivative game - combining the parkour of Assassin's Creed, the towers of Far Cry and Assassin's Creed, with the melee combat of Batman and the bow combat of Tomb Raider or Horizon Zero Dawn, There are times with investigations - similar to The Witcher 3 and Batman. It combines all these aspects into the lore and world of Tolkien. It isn't canon by any means, but it is an enjoyable story and only the most die-hard fans would have a problem with it. My favorite book and movie ever is The Lord of the Rings, and I'm fine with the liberties this game takes. As for the microtransactions and loot boxes that people have complained about, it is far overblown. You absolutely do not need a single thing, and I have seen multiple gaming publications repeat that same things. When I read Metacritic and some forums, I would swear that the people complaining have never actually played the game. That said, I wish they weren't there because I don't like them in general and don't like where the games industry is headed with them. The game is super fun, looks to have 40-60 hours of extended gameplay for just one play-through, and offers ultrawidescreen gaming that performs very well at 3440x1440p on ultra everything with a 1080ti.
The game is a 9/10. It improves upon the original in EVERY way, specifically combat, graphics, no QTEs, and variety of environments. The loot box outrage is ridiculous. You can absolutely beat the game and enjoy it thoroughly without spending a penny. People are going to have to get used to loot boxes in 99% of games - all multiplayer and a majority of the single player games will have them. The real test will be if they are pay-to-win, or just cosmetic and optional. The ones in Shadow of War are not cosmetic only, but they absolutely 100% are optional to beating and enjoying the game.

Basically XCOM 3, which is a great thing. I've really been enjoying the new mechanics, maps, and chosen. Just like Civilization xpacs, this really updates the entire game and genuinely is almost XCOM 3. It still has some minor performance issues (even on my 1080ti), and the hit percentages thing is even worse now because of the random pop-ins of super-powerful aliens that are nearly impossible to beat.

First off, another great game from Dontnod. There are no magical powers this time, but it does not detract from the story or the gameplay. It was really refreshing to see what happened to Rachel Amber and see a lot more of Chloe. The new voice actor was good, but the old one will return in the true sequel. These games are just better in every way from the Telltale games. I want more of these types of games, but only if they are the quality of Life is Strange, Edith Finch, or Oxenfree.

I had some fun with this game and it was definitely a unique experience. It didn't overstay its welcome, which is huge to me now with some many good games out there. They executed their vision succinctly and it was really fun. I'm sure it would be great in VR or AR, but it was totally fine and enjoyable on a regular monitor.

A truly magical and memorable game. Every inch of the game is crafted with exquisite care. I enjoyed myself in the 2-3 hours with Edith Finch more than almost any movie. It is a really emotional experience and has elements of The Twilight Zone, Black Mirror, fantasy worlds, children's imaginations, and the memories of a truly haunted and unlucky family. Every gamer should play it, and a lot of people who aren't gamers should play it.

Prey has elements that are 9/10 or better and other parts that are 4/10 or worse. It has a solid story, good atmosphere and ambience, and only crashed once. I couldn't stand the repetitive traveling in zones and I really didn't enjoy the combat. I would've much preferred a 6 hour game with the story compacted in there. Honestly, I would've preferred Prey as a walking simulator - and I'm someone who loves Deus Ex and Dishonored and enjoyed Bioshock, but I was just waiting on this game to end the last half or more. The stealth options are not anywhere near what Dishonored or Deus Ex bring.

Seriously, this is 2D XCOM except it is better, funnier, and cuter. I actually preferred Steamworld Heist to XCOM 2. Love the Steampunk setting, color palette, music, and the feels.
There is no way this game gets a 10. It is super buggy with rampant rubber-banding and desync. There are a lot of cheaters, which Brendan Greene talked about on the H3H3 podcast yesterday. Plus the current ranking system favors super boring camping style. The entertainment value on Twitch is impressive, and I watch Dr. Disrespect and Viss play daily (RIP Slick Daddy Club for now though...). But the game itself is one map, with no story, and poor graphics, and terrible optimization, with lots of bugs, a good amount of hackers and cheaters - those are not the words that describe a game getting high scores from some sites. They should be ashamed. Sales and cultural impact does not make a game a 9 or 10.
The death of the video game industry might start with this game. Others have tried to ruin it with loot boxes, cut content for DLC and season passes, and other predatory behavior - but this game is designed like the worst mobile game you've ever seen. It should be free with these microtransactions or cost $60 without them. EA IS THE WORST COMPANY IN THE WORLD.
This is the most greedy game ever made. I will never buy another EA game again. The worst of every mobile scummy system ever and the biggest F-U to gamers. If this is where a lot of gaming is headed, I will avoid it - all these lootboxes and GAAS (games as a service) are a blight on fun. Give me single player perfection like Mario, Zelda, Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, and The Witcher 3.
EASILY one of the 10 best games ever. If you are making such a list, this game is definitely in. Maybe something else has to go, but this game is in. Wow, this year Nintendo perfected both Mario and Zelda.
Professional reviewers need to step up and play this game. The problem is, that many reviewers are actually not good at games at all, and this game can be quite challenging, and understanding how freaking good it is takes some ability to step back, reload, reconsider, and truly contemplate your choices and actions. The game is amazing. It is a fantasy XCOM with a better story. It is better than DOS1 in every way.
Absolutely in the pantheon with XCOM and Fire Emblem. I cannot believe that Ubisoft would take Rabbids and Mario and make an XCOM game, and it would be glorious. This is the ultimate example **** no one thought they wanted, and that now everyone will want. Fabulous tactics, amazing polish, great replayability, and much more depth than you would expect. I love turn-based strategy, and this game is amazing.
I've loved my limited time with Slime Rancher so far. It has very pleasing graphics, a solid gameplay loop, fun gameplay. It is very responsive with a controller, and mouse+keyboard was good too, but it feels better with a controller. My daughter got this game on her Steam account, and I can borrow it when she is offline. She was playing this game in early beta and I always thought it looked fun. It has elements of like Steamworld Dig, Don't Starve, and **** Valley. Good time and I definitely will play more.
My daughter loved it enough that I actually played it out of curiosity. It was actually very fun. It had a very nice feedback loop in its gameplay, of maybe 5-10 minutes of hunting out slimes and their food (among other things too), and then back to the ranch to store it all and keep everyone fed and happy, and then right back out to it. Ver colorful and fun with a layer of strategy and planning that becomes more obvious after the first hour. I can see even me easily, putting 20+ hours in it. Glad we got it!
Obviously, this is an ARPG for fans of Diablo III, Torchlight II, and many others. But it is FREE (legit F2P), and equals Diablo 3 in quality in almost every way. Huge community, playerbase, and continued support makes you feel good about playing it. It was a lot of fun, and I'm sure I will return to it again, and again.
