Marvel's Wolverine8

Honestly, this game is pretty good. I understand the frustration for Sony, which is incredibly justified at this point. But I believe Insomniac once again nailed what a superhero title needs. The story starts of really slow, but gets really good throughout the game. The acting is incredible as well and the action sequences are amazing. Traversal animations are smooth. Combat has enough depth to not get boring, and the graphics are what you'd expect from a title like this. It's also an unexpected but welcome surprise that Insomniac didn't shy away from violence, profanity and gore on this one. I didn't have high expectations about these aspects, given their track record, but they showed incredible confidence when it comes to mature content like these. The combat is brutal both in gameplay and in cutscenes. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone here, but they really went all out, especially on the brutality. It's also pretty obvious that this game was made with heart. It has a lot of comic-accurate easter eggs and nods in it (which I don't wanna spoil here), and pays homage to what made the original comics great with its own spin. That being said, there are also many unexpected shortcomings. The game has many glitches right now, especially in traversal mechanics (which is odd, given that they nailed traversal in a title like Spider-Man) and it's pretty obvious how rushed it was despite the enormous time the studio had for the development. The UI also treats the audience like they're 3 year-olds. Logan constantly reminds the current objective, tutorials keep showing up throughout the whole game (despite the option to turn them off in the menu), "hidden" collectibles glow from all the way across the map which makes hiding them kind of pointless and many other stuff like this. It's almost like a game journalist played this game, found it extremely hard to play and then the developers tuned up everything out of spite, it really is that bad and there is no option to tone down the hand-holding anywhere in the options. I really wasn't expecting Insomniac to drop the ball on something like this while nailing the harder parts when it comes to developing a title like this. All in all, I think this game is worth a shot. It's currently riddled with an annoying UI and many gameplay glitches, but I believe it's a gem hidden underneath all these problems.

The Sims 44

I don't know how, but EA and Maxis have finally managed to reach their goal of making a sequel worse than its predecessors. Base game includes absolutely nothing with the hopes of selling it to the player as a DLC. Open world is gone and we're back to loading screens again because a multi-million dollar company couldn't figure out how to solve the performance issues it caused on Sims 3. Many of the career paths and personalities are gone, even many of the daily actions are gone. The premise of selling this game was the advertisement of "feelings" as if they weren't there in the previous titles. Oh and also your sims can drink while eating now, can't forget about that!

Papers, Please9

Papers, Please is one of the best indie games I've ever played. It takes a dull concept and manages to make it incredibly interesting with its story and mechanics.

The Outer Worlds6
Sep 16, 2026
Outer Worlds is a promising title from Obsidian with many familiar RPG mechanics from their past works. It has an exciting setup of intergalactic travel, interesting characters and gameplay mechanics that seem well thought-out. In execution however, it comes up short on all of them. Despite the seeming "freedom" of skills and perks, it quickly becomes obvious how tedious and repetitive each route is. Intergalactic travel is, while pretty exciting as a concept, utilized in a way that makes the player hop around between similar environments through a loading screen. Lores of characters and places are often only important during their own quest lines and then forgotten about, which gives the feeling of what the player is doing is meaningless for the big picture and causes a disconnection between the game and the player over time. What's frustrating is watching a studio like Obsidian, which we know is capable of making a seemingly boring desert wasteland extremely fun and immersive, drop the ball on such an interesting and ambitious concept. It's one of the biggest video game disappointments I've had in a long time.

Hollow Knight10
Sep 16, 2026
Hollow Knight is one of those games that have way more polish than most of the stuff from the big AAA studios. Story and atmosphere is captivating, art design is beautiful and the sound design is incredible. Gameplay is simple, but it's fleshed out amazingly well to the extent that it never gets boring throughout the game. Level design and boss fights are also very well made. If you love challenging games with great atmosphere, you'll love Hollow Knight. It's truly a masterpiece.

Red Dead Redemption 210
Sep 16, 2026
Amazing. Incredible. Impeccable. I've been playing games ever since I can remember, and I can confidently say that Red Dead Redemption 2 has the best story I've experienced in any video game. It's a bit of a slow burn, but it has an unbelievable amount of depth, even more than a vast majority of the books I've read and movies I've seen. Characters are very well-written and the story unfolds in a way that captures your curiosity, even if you played the first game (which is set after the events of this one) and know how things will turn out in the end. Atmosphere it creates is also extremely immersive. The game takes place in an era where players get to experience death of outlaw life-style and the birth of an organized law-enforcement. The beauty and also the cruelty of both the nature and the humankind is told extremely well thorugh the world. Graphics and sound design are top-notch, which compliments the atmosphere greatly. Game mechanics are extremely polished. There are fully fleshed-out mechanics which are completely optional, or even just used once or twice in the game. The gunplay, fighting, horse-riding and survival aspects are done with great attention to detail and are of very high quality. The only shortcoming is how repetitive the gameplay gets towards the end. It boils down to the same 2-3 types of objectives in the last few missions. Despite this shortcoming, this game is an absolute masterpiece in every other aspect and I would definitely recommend it.

007 First Light8

This project was a match made in heaven for both parties involved. IOI had a vast experience of espionage mechanics from the Hitman series and they were looking for a new project, and MGM wanted the Bond universe to expand into video games. In the end, the result is something that I believe both the companies and the players should be happy with. Espionage and gunplay mechanics are nailed, the classic Bond bluffs are utilized very well within gameplay for the stealth sections and the action is improved upon by the addition of a fist-fight mechanic which was surprisingly deep and fun. Graphics, sound design and atmosphere are all great. Story is original, which is hard to do for a Bond title and the acting is amazing all around. The classic aspects of Bond from the books and movies are used very well for a modernized take, while paying homage and respect to the originals. The only gripe I had with this game is how much room it tries to leave for a sequel, both story and gameplay-wise. There are foundations of stuff with great potential for both aspects, but they never got capitalized on and were obviously left as open doors for future releases. It cuts a great game short in order to lay a path for the future of the franchise, but it does so by limiting its current potential instead of building on it organically.

Bloodborne10

The best soulsborne game I've ever experienced. Fromsoftware always nails the atmosphere, but this is the only time where I can confidently say they nailed the gameplay as well. Such a shame that Sony closed down Bluepoint before they even got a chance to remaster this masterpiece, but I'd still recommend it despite the technical struggles it has on backwards compatibility. The experience is totally worth it.

Incredible. I've been playing games for over 23 years now and this is one of the few that I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone. Story has immense depth and despite that, your choices actually matter in shaping it unlike many AAA RPGs. Acting is top-notch, which compliments the story well and even adds to it. Gameplay is also great, but might get a little repetitive towards the end once you figure out how the mechanics work. Atmosphere is highly immersive, has an amazing amount of variety and the quality never drops, even with how big the map is. Graphics are good and the sound design is one of the best I've ever experienced in a video game. This game deserves every bit of praise it gets.
