I loved Pikmin 3. Pikmin 4 is actually worse. It added gamification, ugly new environments, a dog and 2 modes to replay the same environments. It feels bloated. Still a Pikmin game is better than a lot of other games, so go and play it, but if you have the choice, play Pikmin 3 first!
One of my most memorable gaming experiences. Pikmin games have unique mechanics, a bit strategy, a bit chaos management. The nature worlds and crazy enemies are beautiful and the music plays in my mind even 10 years later. Pikmin 4 wasn‘t better. It added ugly world designs, useless gamification bloat and a dog, that didn‘t make a real difference.
Cool game with fun boating, fishing and exploration. Great atmosphere. Upgrading your boats engine, fishing rods, cargo space, lights and nets is very rewarding and a good motivator. The expansions are good, too.
If you miss dungeons in BOTW and TOTK then this might be the game for you. It really mixes things up for 2D style Zelda games and delivers something new. It maybe feels a little less like that huge adventure experience that you get with classic Zelda games, but it‘s a fun ride anyway.
just enough new additions to the A Link to the Past formula to make it really exciting. Fun exploration and puzzling dungeons that make use of the 3D screen of the console. A friendly world but with cool psychedelic spook effects.
I knew I am bored with 2D Mario but Wonder promised so much. I was mildly entertained for 20 levels, but then I got annoyed by the forced good vibes and the ultimately boring wonder effects. It has creativity written all over it, but it‘s just consumption. It feels like dopamine milking until you are dry. I liked some of the design elements: the sideways, not sideways 3D model of Mario for example.
Funny and very entertaining. An evolution of the 1000 year door. I liked the controversial fighting mechanics, because they a fresh and stay interesting. I loved the hilarious bosses as well. I also like Sticker Star on 3DS a bit but not Colour Splash on Wii U.
It‘s snowboarding in a lovely modelled world. it has a unique perspective: you are quite far away from the player and therefore you have a better overview of the environment. Going up a lift is part of the fun. You have different challenges and the main goal is to unlock all lifts and slopes on a map and then after that a new map, which there are plenty of.
Interesting world-in-a-bubble mechanics in a beautiful puzzling 3D world. It throws new stuff at you with a great pacing and the difficulty balance worked very well for me. Very unique and very polished- so basically exactly what I am looking for.
A relaxing quest that is still engaging. Meet some fun characters and do some fun mini game like activities while you progress on your main mission to ascend a mountain. Probably qualifies as a cosy game. I switched of the pixel look. It looks cool, but in the long run I preferred the Windwaker like cel-shaded look. I also think this is suitable for kids, as there is no stressful element and it is friendly.
Looks amazing, plays good. Metroidvania with psychedelic growing seeds. Someone complained, you lose your skills at some stages, that’s not a problem at all, it’s part of the core game loop and you find items to unlock skill permanently. I am stuck on a boss fight - I don’t like them and I am bad at doing them. I wish I could make the bosses weaker so I could explore more of the world.
Easily one of my top 10 indie games on switch. A puzzle game about 5 different societies and their languages. You learn the meaning of their language symbols by talking, finding environmental clues, and solving puzzles. If you tried the demo and wonder if you need more of that: it adds many new exciting mechanics. I adds new types of language puzzles with each society and then interconnects them. It‘s never overwhelming and the illustrated notebooks keeps everything you need to know in one place. I love design with the purposeful colours and all the interactions. It‘s great fun to explore the world.
This one got me exited again to play video games. I looks simple at first, but it‘s beautiful in every detail. The tools you get are inventive and fun to play around with. Exploration, discovery and puzzle solving really got me hooked. There were several moments where I couldn’t believe what the game was doing to me. I loved working with the map to find out hiw to progress. I got to the main end without seeking much help online, but after that i had fun finding out about all the crazy stuff hidden in the game. The guy who made it is supernice, and there is a nice making-of video on youtube as well.Ultimately this is a rare product of love and passion that is daring and respectful to the players.
Where Mario Wonder overstimulates with programmed happiness and trippiness, this one is more happy and more trippy in it‘s simplicity. Just walking in this game is fun and trippy. As is jumping, swinging, exploring, meeting people. I played only a couple of hours in single player mode, but I love it already so much!
