Westworld: Season 25
May 27, 2018
For some reason Season 2 has gone with gratuitous violence, torture, and gore in huge helpings, and completely abandoned gratuitous nudity. Is this because of #MeToo? 6 episodes in, there are no heroes, and nobody to root for. It's just a dark nihilist gore fest. Not sure I'll even finish this season. It feels like a chore.

The Americans: Season 55
May 22, 2017
Very mediocre season. There is almost no tension at all in any of the plot lines. 4 episodes to go and I have no investment in any of the characters of the outcomes. Kind of ridiculous the rating for a show is based on the first few episodes.

Legion: Season 110

Stylistically, this show is a league of it's own. Just watch the first episode and you'll see what I mean. And it doesn't let up. The surrealism, the unique special effects, and creativity of of producers alone make this show well worth watching. The plot is confusing, but as you'll notice I'm writing this review near the end of the season, so I can assure you that that is not a bug. The plot is actually not that complicated, but the circumstances around it make for some serious "WOW!" moments.

Humans: Season 24
Nov 1, 2016
First Season was OK, but the premiere of the second season sets this up to be a really bad drama, giving up any pretense of being science fiction. Suddenly "synths" can become *exactly* like humans, with just a tweak to their code. So much so that one of the lead "synth" characters has a new girlfriend for 6 weeks, and the girlfriend didn't even notice! Not sticking around for this train wreck.

Black Mirror: Season 19

I finally got around to watching the first "season". This is "soft" science fiction at it's best. The first episode is very good, and the second two are brilliant. (By "soft" I mean the plots revolve around human social interaction, as impacted by technology. The technology is not the focus of the story.)

Narcos: Season 29

This is an excellent dramatization of the events surrounding the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar. Learn interesting history (US history included), see very convincing portrayals of fascinating characters played by strong cast, and get engrossed in the tale of Escobar era Columbia. I normally don't care for subtitled material, but in this case I felt it was essential for the authentic feel. If you have any interest in films about gangsters, this is a must see. I liked season 1, but half way into season 2, I think they've outdone themselves.

The Night Of: Season 110

Another fabulous show from HBO, from what I've seen through episode 5. Hardly a weak link here. The cast is all around incredible, and the story telling is of a very rare quality. I expect this show to earn many awards.

I just finished watching the entire first season Netflix. I can't believe this show has not gotten more attention. The acting and direction are very good, and the writing is superb, which is pretty hard to come by. The sets are nothing special, and the music score a bit out of place for a story that was supposed to happen 100 years ago, but these are pretty minor quibbles.
