Arrested Development: Season 1

The plot is overly forced. The writers were hell-bent on having to create dozens of ridiculous coincidences. For some reason they think this makes the situations funny ... its a distraction and the difference between ok and great.

Seasons 1,2,& 3 were brilliant, but Season 4 is poor. It is overcooked, the whole thing is melodramatic. The writers have lost their mojo. The "formula" (forgive the pun) for the success of the earlier seasons was tossed out as they have gone for mainstream methodology. Sadly, it's an inferior batch this time ... by far. Pull your socks up .. I wont watch more than one or two more episodes in S5 and if the same crap as this season gets doled out ... then that's it for me.

The first season was fantastic ... but this one has one missing ingredient. Sadly, the creators of this series have banished Alice Morgan to only a few minutes total. She was the special sauce that made season 1 so incredible. What were the writers smoking when they adopted the strategy of sidelining her? Hopefully they will sober up by the third season. Bring her back!

Oozes with style. Well paced and engaging. Its enough to ignore one unnecessary flaw: the plot and characters are so tightly interwoven you would think there are only 20 people on earth and the history of our planet was just 5 days long. The coincidences are ridiculous .. yet despite this drawback the episodes are immensely watchable. It's a shame the writers thought they needed to make everything so interrelated ... it really was not necessary at all.

Enticing ... but by the last episode you feel like you have just finished a meal made up of more sauce than meat. The show has the potential to be great, but it runs at far too slow a pace ... and, more importantly, the conspiracy is simply lacking in impact.

Surprisingly bad. The show starts with what is a brilliant idea: it is set in beautiful Rome! And the characters are sexy Italians! Then they take this great premise and trash it completely ... with British actors speaking in British accents. It's totally out of place. it's all I could think about everytime they opened their mouths. If that is not enough, the plots are weak and it is difficult for the audience to get involved. If the accents were not so grating, I would find myself bored senseless.

I'm a big fan of Curb .. big fan. But Season 8 is mostly a dud. Larry does not seem to care too much about excelling this year. 7 of the 10 episodes are Zero material. We know he can do better: for example, Episode#3 really hits the mark! Brilliant! I want them all this good!

This show continues to surprise me as to how watchable it is. Who could have imagined a serial killer being the hero? This season, like all the others, has a different "flavour" to it. It's not worse than the others, just different. Each season is worth watching, but you must accept the plot holes. They are everywhere, but so what?! My only criticisms of this season: 1. they no longer play great Cuban music between scenes ... the Latin beat did something special for previous seasons 2. they now have scenes where Dexter shows too much emotion, "exploding" in anger. No! No! No! He should remain a sociopath, detatched and devoid of feelings. The anger he shows does not add up with the character we are accustomed to know. The writers should remember his need for killing people is not because he wants to be a vigilante ... rather vigilantism is simply a safer vessel so that he does not get caught satisfying his need to slice people up.

I enjoyed the first 3 seasons immensley. Unfortunately, Season 4 is a shocker. It is obviously produced by the B-team this time, and it was a con-job of the network to initially lead me to believe this would be another great season. If you have never watched Damages and were turned off with this season ... all I can say is you are right ... but Seasons 1,2, and 3 will not disappoint you.
