Soft fantasy, soft gameplay, soft aesthetics. Cartoonist, goofy, lame. Californian, millennial weird dialogue... Just really boring. And then there are some weird modern politics thrown in, which just breaks the 4th wall in a bad way. Some wierd scenes like where you have to listen to minute long ethical speeches bout how you should do push ups to take responsibility for your mistakes of misgendering a non binary person that just looks like a tomgirl..

It`s not as good as the ps2 games. It is way better than the ps4 games. And about the same as the ps3 games. + Good story and characters Amazing visuals Great combat gameplay Good level design, and variety - Music could be better (like in ps2 games) Humor could be more edgy and adult (like in ps2 games) Too much family friendly Too easy Kinda short
The OG was my intro to complex story driven RPGs back in 1997. Expectations were enormous for this. And it delivered! It has all that nostalgia. The music was better, the visuals, and voice acting obviously better. But also it was very well designed, like it looked how I wanted it to look. They completely nailed the aesthetic and vibe. Which is the most important in a FF game. The game play is also a perfect mix of RPG, strategy, and action. The story is actually easier to follow. The whispers are edgelord cringe, but it actually makes sense by the end. I actually really like how they said the story can deviate from the OG, I love that I don`t know for 100% sure how things will be, because the story is new. There are story sections that are way better this time, for example the honeybee inn. it has enough (and interesting) side quests to make the city feel bigger, but not too much to make it annoying and MMO like. It is a perfect mix of goofy, silly, cute, and serious. The personality of the main cast is more interesting and multi faceted. Especially Yuffie. Yuffie DLC has a really interesting combat system with synergy. All the characters feel unique in combat. Therefore it is a perfect remake. And a 10/10.
It`s soooooooooo good. Like 17 years ago when I was a kid good. 100 hours in an just in act 2, perfect co op, explore chill out and go with the flow game.
