Pretty small Spoilers ahead! I really enjoyed this game. It's not perfect, far from it, but its well worth a playthrough. Now there's not much to say that hasn't already been said in terms of praise for this game, so I'm just gonna stick to the parts I don't like in this review. Also as a heads up I played the Switch version of the game. SO, Undertale is pretty much an internet legend at this point, and I see why. It's story and characters are fun and surprisingly well written. HOWEVER, my main issues lie in the combat and the genocide run of the game. The combat is overall pretty solid, and I really like the bullet hell aspect, but the real issue with it is when you have to get through a lot of the same type of enemy. This game pretty much lives and breathes on shock factor and subverting expectations so when you already know what to do and how to do it then the combat starts to feel really tedious and lackluster. This is only worsened by the genocide run of the game, where you kill literally everything. Now the genocide run is super cool in concept, but in execution its a nightmare. Since you're committing, you know, genocide, the enemy encounter rate absolutely plummets, leaving you to just wander around for literally like five minutes doing nothing before you find an enemy to fight. On top of that, the difficulty spike when you reach Sans is actually insane. I get that that's the point but after hours and hours spent on just one fight, with little to show for it, I just gave up. Also, this is a minor gripe, but the "but no one came..." dialogue is a real missed opportunity in my opinion. It shows up really early on in the run, and it really creeped me out honestly. But then it just keeps on showing up over and over again the point where it becomes much more annoying than impactful. I think it should have been saved for much later in the game, and then used much less. So yeah those were my big complaints. I still love the game, but genocide run kind of killed my enthusiasm to go back to it. I still highly recommend it though if you haven't checked it out.

I played a lot of games as a kid which were pretty bad. But being a little kid with no taste, I didn't know any better. This was not the case with Sonic and the Secret Rings. I remember being super excited when I got the game, and enjoying my first few hours of playing it when I brought it home. But I guess I realized it wasn't worth my time, because on my old save file it says I only put in a few hours. I have tried on about four separate occasions since then to really get into this game but I just can't bring myself to do it. I can take about two and a half hours of this game before wanting to curb stomp Sonic. The game's menus are a nightmare to navigate, the progression is awful, and the controls hardly function half the time. The story, as per usual with Sonic games, is insanely goofy to the point where I can hardly keep a straight face. But probably the worst part of the game is the fact that it tries to seem longer than it is by making you redo stages over and over again with really minor changes, so it starts to feel extremely tedious. Some hardcore Sonic fans will defend this game, because, if we're being honest, they'll pretty much defend anything Sonic-related, but this game misses the mark on pretty much everything. The one exception to that is the graphics. Honestly, for a pretty rushed Wii game with not a huge dev team this looks pretty good, not much I can find fault with. But graphics alone can't save this game, and neither can nostalgia.
