“Don’t Look Up” featured just enough wry wit balanced with just enough over the top sarcasm to support me through the slower segments until the heavily foreshadowed literally bitter ending landed ….like a comet from the sky.

What a yawner of a film! The audience is apparently supposed to forgive its lack of plot and instead concentrate on its 'oh so clever' premise that grows weary within the first fifteen minutes. Much of the dialog has been heard before, better written, in better movies; some of the dialog is downright embarrassing. Oh what a conceit of a movie! The only interesting scenes were the shots of Shanghai (supposed to serve as a future LA), cloaked in its thick polluted fog. A perfect setting for 'Her'.

A good movie is inherently defined by its pleasurable viewing moments, and this movie delivers very few. The loosely jointed plot never knits itself into any kind of coherent narrative, nor are there characters with whom one can identify or for whom one can root. It is much easier for a film to abandon the demands of solid story telling, and this movie takes the easy way out in every sense.

Don't waste a minute of your time or a nickel of your money on this silly lightweight schoolboy shoot 'em up. I cannot imagine how low the bar must be for reviewers who manage to find some kind of 'artistic value' in this train wreck of a poorly plotted movie. The worst thing about this truly terrible film may be that it takes itself so **** one light moment, not one original scene, not one fresh line of dialog. BEWARE!!!

People in love smile. They smile a lot. It's an expression that signals our interest in someone who delights our heart, a gesture as irrepressible as the wind through the Dales. Mia Wasikowska however never much alters her expression of dour gloom in this remake of 'Jane Eyre', a movie with no warmth, no chemistry, and certainly no passion. She is the ice queen of the frozen moors, and it comes as a surprise that Rochester could possibly have fallen in love with her, an even bigger surprise that she has any feelings for him. If you want to view a visually beautiful film, I can recommend this movie. If you want a tale of intelligent wit, fine dialog, and heartfelt passion, you'll need to read the book.

This movie's premise has holes large enough to push an Irish pub through, but there are three elements that make it worthwhile: 1) Matthew Goode never overplays the part he's been dealt 2) The cliffs and countryside of Ireland make for magnificent viewing, and 3) Amy Adams' spirit has enough fizz to energize this tired chick flick and render it quite enjoyable.
