I played only 2 hours and you may say that I shouldn't rate it then, but I feel all the issues were present in that playtime i have with this game and that made me quit.
In today's terms I'd say they way overcooked here. There is a sense that they wanted to make Hotline Miami bigger, be more ambitious, get more story, more gameplay variety.
But it just doesn't work with this engine. Story scenes feel tedious and forced in, that is accompanied by annoying menuing where you can't just continue where you left off. It frequently cuts off some story parts because you quit when you thought the level was over and it continues from a different point in the mission. These are minor nitpicks but it adds to the frustration.
But the biggest issue here is gameplay.
Game that was made with the intent to put you into crammed spaces and test your reflexes fighting multiple enemies that can one shot you now forces you to take on large areas in which you cannot see the end and carefully navigate them because you're afraid an enemy will snipe you from a point you cannot even see. It just doesn't work! They try to introduce different gimmicks, "scripted" parts and twist the gameplay formula as much as possible to be innovative but that's the issue. Hotline Miami was praised as much as it was because it was simple and it worked perfectly for what it is. Making all these changes completely ruined the experience and made a fun game a chore to sit through.
It's amazing gameplay-wise but one thing made me so mad I can't go higher than 7.
The fact that menuing is so slow, you can't quickly reset, you can't skip dialogues, cutscenes, that giving out presents takes ages is mind boggling. The characters and story are very cringe and you really don't want to listen to anything they have to say, but it seems the creators were so proud of this cringefest they force players to bear through it. There's a lot style over substance here, which I could let slide if the substance was noteworthy, but unfortunately it's nauseating.
**** you in like nothing else, but lasts for only 3-4 hours. Needs way more upgrades and levels and variety, but for what it is it's great nonetheless. I have no idea how I managed to get my footing with all those bullets on the screen but the game is designed to help you in any way it can and it succeeds.
With a price like that this short experience is definitely worth it.
It's good but I got tired of it after 10 hours or so.
There's definitely something here for those that want a challenge on higher difficulty levels and those that like maxing everything but for casuals there's not that much too offer.
Progress and unlocks are tied to missions that can be really tedious to complete and can halt your progress entirely ending the fun even faster than it did for me.
It's still super fun but I feel it lacks content, it really does need I'd say twice as much as it has at this point.
It might be the grindiest and repetitive racer out there.
It has total like 10 tracks, 4 songs, couple of cars, 4 different types of stickers and rims to choose from, and every time you get a new car you have to race for new components for it. But damn is it fun.
The driving is a little weird but once you get a hang of it, it can be really satisfying. Graphics are amazing for low budget 2008 game, still looks great, with races being held at dusk providing amazing looking lighting. Destroy engine is impressive as well with all cars getting bruised, parts falling off, you can even total the entire car and make the wheels fall off.
It really feels like low budget game but I won't lie, they squeezed that money to the last drop and delivered the best product they could.
Literally unplayable.
Controls are abysmal, you can't see **** because of how messy the environments are and the amount of effects and grey there is on screen and I'm not exaggerating, you really can't see what you're doing. It's littered with bugs everywhere as well. Story is incomprehensible, audio cuts out, is too high or too low.
Guns feel like peashooters, you're constantly confused as to what is going on, who are you supposed to shoot.
I've not played a bigger mess than this crap.
I'd really like to love this game but I just can't.
The shooting feels great, the game looks great as well and there's real creativity in the level design. I'm also a fan of the dry humor in Blood.
With that said unfortunately it's not very fun to play.
My biggest problem is the absurdly high difficulty that very often stems from having to deal with cheesy and annoying enemy spawns, that are placed so you can never expect them on your first try and they will blow off your head or drain 90% of your life before you can react. Because of that I found myself saving frantically every minute or so because I didn't want to lose all my progress because of "gotcha" monsters appearing around the corners.
Played on PC Great action platformer with amazing artstyle, music and gameplay filled with soul and passion.
It's pretty difficult even on normal at later stages and you can get stuck on some bosses for 20-30 deaths even but that didn't discourage me, on the contrary, i managed to be better on each attempt which made the final victory that much sweeter.
Got it very cheap on a sale, but imo it's worth the full price as well.
Highly recommend this one for all old school fans.
A short hike - a short game that makes you feel so good. It's a real gem ****, evoking a range of emotions, but most importantly nostalgia. The longing you feel for this small island that exists only in a form of bytes on your screen is incomparable to any other game I've ever played. The feel of adventure, the thrill of it all. From jumping across creeks to picking up sticks and smacking bushes with it. You feel like a kid again. Amazing graphics, with it's pixely design (that can be changed to smooth graphics) and pastel colors fit perfectly the tone of the story. Various character designs add to the experience, along with their short, but cute dialogues. The cherry on top, but how important one, is the music. It really lets you sink into this small world and pulls just the right strings to make you awe and sigh at seemingly not that much. Game is available on the game pass, so I'd say it's a must play 2-3 hours little side game. 8/10
Dying Light is a generic zombie game with some neat ideas that unfortunately do not make it stand out much.
Repetitive gameplay, mixed with bland story and characters makes for a really dull experience. Parkour aspect of the game really stands out and is engaging in the beginning but quickly becomes mundane after running from point A to B. I understand that these kind of missions are essential in movement based game, but if the movement is lacking, than it quickly becomes tedious. Pair that up with weak combat system and you have yourself a snore fest. It doesn't help that different weapons are different only in their models and how far they can reach the enemy, and the upgrades only provide "elemental" bonuses, making your attacks deal bonus fire, ice or electric damage. That makes all encounters feel the same and usually have one or two approaches to them.
With all that I am sure some people will get a kick out of running around on rooftops kicking zombies, but for me it was not enough to keep me engaged and interested.
Isonzo is the third iteration in a series of realistic FPS games about the first world war.
In Isonzo we put on the uniforms of Italian and Austro-Hungary armies to battle it out in various mountainous terrains. The focus on the rocky region is a nice change from previous fronts and provides new challenges and makes you utilize new tactics.
Graphically the game looks phenomenal, especially that we can see some colors now instead of dark trenches of Verdun. Everything is vibrant and alive, the rocky atmosphere is projected onto the screens magnificently.
Gameplaywise it's the same old as previous game, although I'm sure there are some gun freaks that will appreciate all the new weapons much more than me. Class systems are still in place and all are equally useful, although it's still first come, first serve rule, meaning if your machine or internet is not the fastest, it's very likely that the snipers and officers will be quickly grabbed. Game is often updated and patched for minor and major bugs, buffs and nerfs etc. with a lot of these changes being dictated by the fanbase. The devs are really keen to listen to feedback and implement any needed changes quite often.
Community really gets into the battles, following orders from officers and fulfilling their class duties diligently, creating grand and intense skirmishes, that can really grip you by the throat on the way to victory.
If you are a fan of realistic shooters on large scale maps, or enjoyed previous games in the series, definitely give this one a shot.
Hand of Fate 2 is very engaging and easy to pick up. The amount of stories is just enough to not bore you, and they are all very much different from each other. The deck building mechanism is fun and lets you experiment. Card progression trough the token system is intuitive and gives room to try out cards throughout many runs to uncover all the mysteries and bonuses behind them. Unfortunately not everything is so perfect. The combat system is very clunky and non-responsive at times, especially with larger groups of enemies. The difficulty of the campaign is all over the place, with stories that you can pass with random cards and others where it's hard to get by even with carefully selected and planned out deck.
But those flaws don't make the game unplayable by any means. It's a perfect game to pick up on calm Sunday evening, with a glass of wine, or a cup of tea and just sink into the atmospheric world of Hand of Fate.
Great boomer shooter. Big variety of weapons, memorable enemies and levels. This is clearly a work of passion and talent, everything pieces together perfectly. If you feel like you might like it from the trailer you will most definitely love it, it's pretty straight forward. I had to cut one point because there are parts of the game that didn't click for me. Sometimes I got lost in the level and wasn't sure how to progress, but not for long fortunately. The flipping mechanic is very confusing with the perspective change on the camera. There were also certain spots where the enemies would get stuck, but not too many. These are all just nitpicks. This game is absolutely gorgeous.
Nice driving, loved the drifting mechanics.
As always very nice car modification options. I love the option to switch the engine of a car so you can still be competitive with your favorite car models.
AI falls very short. I played on hardest difficultly and it was most of the time just this one car at the front who was very good and the rest of the AI players barely could drive.
Story and characters are super cringe, same for the music. I recommend skipping all cutscenes and turning off music audio in options and just listen to the engine rev. Overall it's a decent drive, slightly above average.
