Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster9
May 10, 2014
This is a beautiful remaster of an incredible entry in the Final Fantasy series. This package contains two very well fleshed out RPGs with amazing battle systems in both X and X-2 and an awe-inspiring world with fully developed, unique characters. The re-done character models look great, though the eyes do look a little vacant. The environment is vibrant and looks stunning in HD and the remastered soundtrack is terrific. X has an epic storyline that will grip any RPG fan. International content is added for those that didn't have access to it before. This includes new super bosses, abilities, job classes, a creature capture system (which add mounds of depth to X-2's customization options) and a plethora of other extras that will make old and new fans alike really enjoy this compilation. Very small issues such as unskippable cut-scenes in X and slightly longer loading times really do not detract from the experience. Though this package is great value for money, X-2's story did disappoint me quite a lot.

Pokemon Y8
Feb 19, 2014
This is a great addition to the handheld main series of Pokemon games. The series has evolved in all aspects of the word. Adding a new type, the transition from 2D to 3D graphics and improvements to many aspects of the game-play make this a game well worth playing. Battles look great played out in full 3D with beautiful effects. The world, Kalos, which is based on the France looks wonderful and brings Pokemon to life in a way it never has done before. The music is very fitting with the surroundings, though I did hear the tracks I liked a lot less frequently that ones played constantly. This may be down to personal taste but I couldn't stand some of the town's music. The addition of the fairy type was very welcome. It added new strategies in game-play especially being immune to Dragon type Pokemon. I was quite disappointed however with the lack of new Pokemon, there being only 70 new ones. Another new aspect of game-play the 6th generation brings is Mega Evolution, which brings old Pokemon back into the limelight by giving them powerful new forms and makes the most popular creatures become even more godly. As much as I like Mega-Evolution, I wish some of the Pokemon permanently evolved that way. One of the major problems I had with Pokemon Y is the difficulty. While it is easy enough for new players to make their way through the main game and then veterans are more targeted to the competitive battling post-game, I would have much preferred a choice to chooses between harder difficultly levels. This is by far the easiest Pokemon game to date which at some points in the game made things boring. The hours of game-play also seem significantly reduced compared to the games before (BW2). Those points aside Pokemon Y is still a fantastic game that will highly appeal to long time fans and newcomers alike.

Final Fantasy: All The Bravest1
Dec 18, 2013
The worst Final Fantasy game of all time! This game has no gameplay, literally swiping your thumb up and down the screen to send your many party members to attack, before they get hit ONCE and die, leaving you to wait 3 hours per character (of around 20) or to pay money to carry on swiping, that is all. This game really is a shallow attempt to take loyal fans money. The only thing that could be found as plus point in this game is nostalgia for the old graphics and soundtrack, but really you should just pick up an classic FF game instead.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag8
Dec 18, 2013
Black Flag has greatly improved on the previous installments of Assassin's Creed, for the most part... First of all there is a huge, beautifully detailed open world for you to explore, with dozens of islands and secrets to uncover. Riding around as the captain of your own ship plundering booty and recruiting crew has never been so much fun. Battles are well done and the cannon mechanics have been polished, you can can customize your ship with new sails and other decorations. The combat is sharp and the stealth has been improved upon, however, the selection of weapons available to you has actually been reduced, which I found unimpressive. The story, while taken in a different direction from past games, is very compelling and will draw you into the world. The soundtrack is wonderful, being appropriately powerful or tense in given situations. The multiplayer is nicely presented though I thought some of the modes could have been done better, especially "Wolfpack" where you find yourself in a team with other online players constantly running to targets assassinating them and protecting chests, this felt rather cluttered and the narrating woman's voice was quite annoying after repeating the same phrase 20 times in 2 minutes. Black Flag still suffers from numerous glitches, repetitve missions and frustrating moments where free running doesn't work as well as it should, but this is without a doubt still a very enjoyable, beautiful game with tons to do.

Grand Theft Auto V10

This game is by no means perfect, but it's the closest I've experienced as of 2013. The sheer amount of activities to partake in throughout the game is exceptional. The graphics are simply breathtaking, every single part of the map has incredible attention to detail. The story offers a great balance of action and comedy, while the characters are for the most part, believable and fit in well with the world around them. The radio contains a great variety of music genres that will please most players and the OST is very well done. Game-play wise GTA V does driving, shooting and exploration extremely well, though some mini-games such as tennis, darts or golf tend to be less interesting (though this is down to the players personal interests and they are completely optional). Aside from the odd glitch here or there and frustrating moments while driving, this is an amazing game and definitely one you should play. The fact it comes with a huge online world to mess around in only adds to the experience.

Final Fantasy XIII-26
Nov 4, 2013
Although this game is a step in the right direction, FFXIII-2 pales in comparison to the older entries of the series. The graphics in this game are absolutely stunning, environments and character models have wonderful attention to detail. Recruiting monsters to fight alongside you is a very addicting game-play feature, though battles often have you constantly pressing the X button with no real need to do anything different, only occasionally switching team formations when a character is hurt. The soundtrack was hit-and-miss, some tracks really immersed you into the game while others were bland and forgettable. The story was the biggest let down in my opinion, one thing that always attracts me to FF games is the amazing character development, as well as meeting a variety of unique supporting characters along the way; FFXIII-2 however, revolves the story around a very sparse and uninteresting cast. Many occurrences throughout the storyline are simply explained with bland outcomes such as "This monster appeared because of a paradox". I also felt the fact you had to pay to fight the games toughest bosses and to retrieve the best weapons was very unappealing considering these things were already included in every other previous Final Fantasy game. Overall this game is definitely an improvement on FFXIII and can prove to be quite addictive, but it will always leave you wishing it gave you that little bit more.
