This game had potential to be great, but there are a number of problems made me stop playing it. 1. The controls are imprecise, too sensitive, making it hard to land on narrow platforms. The character constantly slides a little, like all surfaces are on ice. 2. The map view is too limited. You can’t scroll it, it doesn’t show the character’s position. It’s not as useful as it could be. 3. Every hit kills you. There is no health. You can’t get hit at all. This becomes annoying in boss fights and more complex platforming challenges. You have to retry a lot. (Imagine playing Super Mario but without any power-ups. Anytime you get hit by anything, you have to restart the level. It would be less fun, wouldn’t it?)

Wholesome and beautiful. I finished it in a bit over 6 **** puzzles are creative and not too hard. The art style is impressive. The story keeps it short, and there is some some light humor (mostly puns). A must buy on sale.

Greatly improved over the original. The free camera, map, and compass make traversal much easier than in the original. The art style is great. There is a lot of content. I’m playing on hard mode, and it looks like it will take me at least 60 hours to complete the game. Combat is much better than the original. Being able to move around freely with all your characters during the turn has a lot of strategic potential. The sparks make the combat more fun. There is more to do in each turn. Exploration in the overworld is also greatly improved. The puzzles are more challenging and better integrated with the environment. Overall, a very polished game. The only major negative that I can think of is the choppy frame-rate in some areas while panning around. Not a big issue for me.

This is a solid story-driven, puzzle adventure game. If you like point-and-click adventure games in theory, but find them annoying in practice, chances are that you will like this game. If feels like a point-and-click adventure game, but everything is streamlined, and you’ll never get stuck. My original score was an 8, but I had to give it one more point for the ending. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say that there are very few games that let you do what you can do at the end of this game, and that made me like the game even more.

If I ever have a bad period in my life and feel lost, I need to remember to replay this game to remind me what it means to be human. Sumire starts off like a simple adventure game for little girls, but then it becomes more and more serious and emotional, and in the end, you feel so hopeful.

The problem with this game is that the difficulty is all over the place, and the game does not indicate that in any way. Each level should have had a difficulty rating on a 5-star scale. Then, people like me who are not geniuses could have just ignored the 4-star and 5-star levels instead of effectively wasting time on them because there’s no chance I can solve them anyway.

I’m halfway through the game, and I’m not sure if I want to finish it. It’s just meh. The game-play is fine but nothing special. The narrator is kind of annoying with his “I’m so cool” vibe. He’s talking about the different races and events from the past like it’s some kind of epic lore but it’s not. The game is in dire need **** introductory cut-scene to hook you in. Something to make you care about the story. There’s just nothing.

Some of the puzzles and platforming challenges toward the end of the game were annoying. This game is all about atmosphere, and when you’re stuck, that atmosphere is ruined. There was really no need for this. There was one puzzle involving a magnet box at the very end that just makes zero sense. Check the chapter list, and if you’re a few rooms from the end and there’s a magnet box in front of you, just look immediately at a walk-through. Trust me, you will just waste your time if you try to figure it out. It makes absolutely no sense.

It is disappointing that such a great game has been ruined by a single bad idea. I had to delete the game after some 6 hours because every new “run” that I attempt ended up in exactly the same way: 30 minutes wasted and angry. The first 3 hours were so good. I really enjoyed it. But as soon as the challenges got somewhat harder, I started failing them. Sometimes, it was even down to pure luck (bad dice rolls). The last 3 hours were a waste of my time, and I made zero progress. I would have to be a masochist to continue playing the game under these conditions. If you think my score is too harsh, just imagine if in Mario Odyssey after 3 hours the controls got inverted (left becomes right, right becomes left, etc.). With such a change, the game would be very hard to control, and no normal person could enjoy it. Would you give that game a 5 because the first 3 hours were great? No, it would be a ruined game. That’s why it’s a zero. P.S. Terry, if you’re listening, you know how in Donkey Kong Country, when you die in a stage, you only have to re-try that stage, not the entire world. Think about that. Think about that really hard.

It would have been an easy 9, but the unusual boss fights really left a bad taste in my mouth. There were two boss fights in particular where I basically had to look up the solution on my phone. It’s like in those point-and-click adventure games where you have to to one specific thing, and until you figure it out (or look it up), there is absolutely no progress, and you’re just wasting your time. It’s funny to think that if this game had a ”walk in the park” mode for bosses, I would have liked it *more*. This game has so much going for it; it doesn’t need strange bosses. Alternatively, the game could have given you hints during the boss fights if you die a lot and/or make no progress. Not knowing what you’re supposed to do is just so frustrating, and that’s basically why I’ll never be able to enjoy a point-and-click adventure game. If you play the game with this in mind, it’s an easy 9 as I said. Just pull up a boss guide and use it as soon as you don’t know what to do. And then enjoy a game with a great story.

Try the demo to see what this game is about. All I’m going to say is that I recommend playing this for the ending alone. I have never experienced such an ending in a video game. Gotta respect the developers for not going down the fan service route.

A well executed virtual Lego City. The game is relaxing and blissful. Pros: + Constant silly humor, completely voice-acted + A ton of unlockables and mini challenges on the side, incl. races + The city feels very alive + Lots of vehicles that control differently (a la Mario Kart) Cons: - Reduced frame rates when there’s lots on the screen - Some frustrating platforming challenges - When you re-start the game, it always returns you to the police station

Imagine playing Zelda 2 without an instruction booklet or guide. It would **** not knowing what everything is. You would have many questions. You would give up after you got stuck for the second or third time. For some reason the developer of this game thought they can get away with creating a game that is pretty much a NES-era game without accompanying it with an NES-era manual. Nothing in the game is explained. A lot of things a cryptic. Maps are completely unlabelled. This would have been fine if the game came with a guide, like NES games did. Believe me, I would LOVE to play and enjoy this game. At its core, this is a pretty good Zelda 2 clone. But I got tired of consulting a walk-through every time I didn’t know where to go next. For example, I got the power bracelet. Great, what next? Where is that one block that I need to push to advance to the next area? Do I need to re-visit every single location to find it? I give up. Again, give me an official instruction booklet, and I will double my score. Update: I’ve reduced my protest vote from 4 to 3. I’m going to keep reducing it by one every time I get stuck and have to consult a walk-through. Let’s see if we can reach zero. Seriously, write a manual with tips, you inconsiderate developer. Update: Got stuck again trying to find the stupid seventh crystal. There are probably at least five locations in the game that block your progress if you have fewer than seven, but I only have six. The score is down to 2. Looking up the speedrun again… Update: There’s this one separate area that I’d like to revisit, but I forgot how I got there the first time, and the map does not show any helpful information. My options are to explore over a dozen of areas that I’ve already been to, potentially wasting hours, or to look it up in a walk-through. Guess what I’m going to do. Yeah, my score is down to 1. Update: So this game has a max level. I have restrained from upgrading my health because I didn’t want to make the game too easy for me, and now I’ve reached max level and still on the lowest health stats, and there’s seemingly no way to upgrade them. I have to beat the final bosses with this. It’s like I’m playing on the highest difficulty. Score is down to zero.

The purpose of this game is to allow people to enjoy a side-scrolling Mario platformer using a single finger (the thumb). This game succeeds at that. This game is not revolutionary, but it’s a good value for 10 bucks.

This game is like math. If you’re inherently good at it, you’ll like it, but if you **** at it, you’ll hate it with a passion. The game does *nothing* to teach you how to fight the different types of enemies. You have to figure it out on your own. Even if that means constantly dying. In my book, this is a mortal sin for a game. I play games to have a good time but this game feels like work. Great games make sure that *all* players can enjoy it. This game doesn’t care about the player at all. If you play badly, it will just show you the same dull Restart option until you realize that you should probably be playing a game that actually takes the player’s experience into account.

This game is either a 10 or a 0. If you’re a masochist or a person who doesn’t mind getting so angry because of the difficulty of the game’s bosses that you want to start punching your pets or screaming profanities at your elderly neighbors, then this game is a 10. I could go into the details, but just trust me, the game is nearly perfect. But if you do mind getting extremely angry, then STAY THE F*** AWAY FROM THIS GAME.

I played for 5 hours. I finished after getting max 5 crowns on all 24 tracks. There isn’t much variety in this game but I still had a great time with it. Memorizing the combos was slightly annoying but once you know all the pro movies, playing the game becomes so much more satisfying. I enjoyed the beats, the art style, and the overall atmosphere of the game.

This is an accurate port of the original NES games. If you’ve played those games as a child and liked them, this will be exactly what you expect. There’s even a TV mode that makes it look like on an old CRT TV, and a setting that emulates the slowdown that would occur in the original games when there were too many sprites on the screen. The collection is also packed with bonus content, so all in all, for this price, this is a steal.
