Paul Giamatti is very good as King John, unfortunately the film is amazingly Drab. There are Templer's but only one, and the Lannister Father from Game Of Thrones... but mostly it's Giamatti as a disheveled King John demanding his Castle back. The French come to the rescue! Can you believe it? The French! If only it had been about Giamatti's King John without all the rest. THE VERDICT: STAID/49 Of 100

This is one of those films that grows on you, you know you sit there thinking what a lousy day today, drinking a beer and stuff. But as this film goes you’ll be getting into it, even though it’s not from the USA. What happens to the ‘Chick’ is pretty **** up! Boy, she is pretty, and he does like her, but he makes it clear he doesn’t have much of those, type feelings, that people on Television have… you know that sort that ‘feels’ things, that women go wild for. He’s a meat and potato type of guy, just wanting to **** without all the **** that traps a man for real. He’s a pretty cool guy though, although I coulda’ killed this **** for hurting that pretty little boy… I probably woulda if I’d been there, and when that end part happens, man, I’m just glad things turned out! Really surprised to hear State Trooper Written and performed by Bruce Springsteen in the film. Mr. Springsteen sure doesn’t allow his music in Films, very often, I was thinking that he must have liked this movie quite a lot to allow them his voice. Well worth seeing.

This one reminded me quite a lot of Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks. In that one The American Navy showed up and shot the Afrikaners dead but in this one, well I thought there should have been some Military interest, I don't think the film was based on a True Story like the Hanks movie was. It's on Netflix Streaming and I thought it was a good film, not boring at all ...

Creepy little movie with a Big Star Scarlett Johansson, she rides around in a Van picking up men then takes them to a weird little shack where they sink and die, like quicksand... it's boring ... and very slow, kind of interesting though... as at the end she sheds her skin as it were.... If you're not an Intellectual you'll hate this... Based on a book by Michel Faber.

A Australian married couple go to Cambodia with the married woman's younger sister and a new boyfriend, who somehow turns up missing. This man who the family never knew well gets a very unhappy ending, and the husband here is sort of Dense I'd say. I felt much more for the missing man's family than the story of the marriage here.... But the younger sister did have a point about her family and it's lack of emotional fiber... although she isn't blameless... VERDICT: FAIR/SAD/UNHAPPY MARRIAGE BAD

The Book Thief, is a whimsical sort of film that I thought was going to have magic in it, I kept waiting for something to happen, besides the usual Western vibe of THIS IS BAD/THIS IS GOOD! The **** movies without **** are not as interesting. This time it's a German Girl living with a family who decide to take in a Jewish man about 20 something... they hide him in the basement. It's a fair film but I found it quite dull. VERDICT: CHICK FLICK!

Sprawling is a good word for The Place Beyond The Pines, and don't forget that I just saw this and it was released in 2012. That does matter as tastes change very quickly in 'Movie Time'. The story is a sort of Bad Luck one with the main character not lasting throughout the film... I was surprised that the movie kept on changing as the focus completely changed about 1/3 way through the film... Some very good actors in here Ray Liotta, but in the end all the pieces here didn't seem to come completely together... too many irons in the fire. VERDICT: FAIR BUT NO CASINO/52 OF 100

Critics didn't like this movie much, 19 of 100 at Meta Score is Overwhelming Dislike... Samuel Jackson as a villain in the film may be one problem. Not that he wouldn't be a good bad guy, but he does rarely play one. Big Stars always wanna be loved... and in this one the Bad part about Sam is hard to find. He seems innocent throughout, no real 'I'm a killer' tension from the script. Even at the end it's hard to believe that 'The Jack Man' would be huntin' us! The DA, the other main character in the film, isn't too bright... he does any number of boneheaded things, especially for someone who is supposed to be on the side of Justice. So there isn't much to cling to in our fabled 'good guy' area. VERDICT: lacks punch

Creepy film about a Killer from 1000 years ago in the Viking Mountains, who finds some Christian Crusaders looking to find Jerusalem but after a Mist find America... The feel of the film is more Real, like from the 70's, and the scariness of new lands and strange things is inherent in the film... VERDICT: IT WAS REAL/45 OUT OF 100

Hollywood Back on The Bandwagon? No alien in this one, this time we’re getting a somewhat Realistic look at things going wrong for space fearing Astronauts. I was a bit surprised to see Hollywood getting out to space, in this manner. Hollywood sort of gave up on the Science Fiction, long time ago, as Special Effects got way too costly. Have you seen anything new in SFX lately, chances are no. Hollywood’s love affair with Space is a cost conscious one. Wouldn’t want to take a slash out of those Worldwide Box Office Figs, now would we! This movie is alright, but the banter is not very professional, this feels like some famous people popping up all of a sudden and wondering if they can handle a movie in space. Two Fabs are on hand, Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, the look of the film is good, and the ending fine, but I was surprised that Gravity had suddenly ended, then I looked and saw that it was only one half hour. Concise, was the play this time. The Science Fiction is in the Books, that’s the Only place to find it. -------------- First Published at STUFF (April 16, 2014) STUFF #310: Gravity

Chances are if you saw the Original RoboCop with Peter Weller in the Movie Theater, like me, you were pretty blown away by it... It's nice that they are 'trying' to bring it back... this one isn't that bad but the wife and kid are still around, and those 4 bad guys in the original film aren't around. Remember that line? "Can you fly, Bobby!" Michael Keaton is in it, and I haven't seen him in a movie since Batman, although I did see him once about 15 years ago at My Neighborhood Ralphs. Shocking and very Sad was the death of James Gandolfini about a year ago. As is the case with Surprise endings, there is More to be Said! Mr. Gandolfini has a number of 'last films' to see. I've seen a few of these last films, this one is bitter/sweet with a romance with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, which is interesting casting to say the least. In the film Gandolfini's EX-WIFE, a poet is somewhat of a **** about him... calling him fat a slob and sorta stupid. What Man isn't, I say to her! Still and though it's good to see Gandolfini one last time... VERDICT: SWAN SONG/67 OF 100

Meta Critic gave this film a score of 35 of 100. That's odd because it's really a better film than that. I liked the Arab Chief who was more interested in his traditions than the flow of oil. The conflict with he and the other Arab leader was interesting. Usually Arab's in film are terrorists to be shot, but here there is more to it, as the Western Influence is Oil Conglomerates. The film is not as bad as these Critics complain. VERDICT: CRITICAL CRICKETS ~ 55 OF 100
