Despite almost 100% of the content in this game being recycled from Granturismo Sport, obtaining top cars in this game could easily cost you $200 apiece in micro transactions! The same car was $5 in Sport! Screw Sony. Want to grind credits instead? Completing the entire story mode - which **** - might net you about $10M if you never spend a single credit anywhere, and top cars cost $20M apiece. Eff this greed. Someone calculated that as of right now, buying the entire roster of cars would cost over $3,000 - and you can't even do that, because you need roulette tickets and special events to make certain cars available! This game is a disaster. There are so many bugs. The game always has to be online in single player so Sony can datamine your interaction. A major patch screwed up dirt races so cars don't have dirt tires, making those events impossible. There are loot boxes in the form of roulette tickets which have been proven by statistical analysis to be rigged for low payouts. But guess what - the micro transaction store hasn't had a single bug. It's almost like that's where they spend most of their time. Buggy, broken, and greedy. The racing is good, but I completed the story mode in maybe 10 hours and I'm selling my disc. I'm done. The story mode is so bad. You have "friends" in each event who are stock photo images with text. That's it. That's the story. They say generic crap like "I'm racing the Supra today". Oh wow bro. Nobody cares. There are almost no new cars, because all the content is recycled. Games like Forza have so much more original content, it's ridiculous. Defenders of this game are likely literal Sony bots. Sony has been caught multiple times buying forum posts, hiring companies to make fake posts of support and manipulating forums. Trust the user score here - there are too many people down voting for Sony to buy their way out of this. Do not purchase GT7, and more important, don't spend a single dollar on their stupid micro transactions.

A flawed masterpiece, but aren't they all? + Dark tone. It's like Baldur's Gate if the main character was schizophrenic and the main bosses all lived inside his head. You're often fighting yourself more than the environment. + Great setting. This is a dreary, almost Lovecraftian streampunk take on post- World War 2 France. There are early instant cameras, automobiles, the supernatural horrors all live in the main character's mind. Or do they? + Great accidental humor. There are a lot of laugh-out-loud moments. My character just convinced himself he's a murderer and he feels so guilty he tried to blurt it out to strangers and beg forgiveness. Dialog options will be like "1. Hello. 2. Nice day. 3. Oh God I am so sorry I killed that man!". It really is like I'm controlling a psycho who's on the verge of a breakdown. It's great. + So many game design lessons. The skill/persona system turns the CRPG genre on its head. It's so inventive and thoughtful. Game designers will be learning about this game for years to come. In short: your skills aren't necessarily good for you. Becoming a meathead who's impervious to pain may also give you a short temper and cause you to seek out danger. This is wonderfully complex. - Politics. There are a lot of areas where you can easily tell the political bent of the authors. The authors make it clear you're either a card-carrying Communist, or you're a fascist white male virgin with a tiny ****. It's very cringey. - Very unforgiving. Personally I'm loving this, but a lot of people are turned off by the large opportunities for failure in the game. You can - quite literally - end up with a Game Over because you tried to ask a girl out and she turned you down, and you're out of pills to take to make you feel better, so you give up and quit being a cop. I'm not even kidding. That can happen. To me that's hilarious and great. Some people, especially people who like to 100% games, will hate it since it's basically impossible to see everything. - Bugs. I haven't had any yet, but almost everyone reports bugs. Save often. This is pretty common in CRPGs, so I can barely ding them on it. A lot of people complain about "all the reading" ... this game has no more reading than Baldur's Gate or Pillars of Eternity. It's a lot, but in this case it's all about the main character's inner turmoil and the city you're in. My eyes glazed over during a lot of Pillars of Eternity's text because they mention so many distant kingdoms and historic events that I have no idea what is or isn't going to be related to the main story. I never have that problem with Disco. Every bit of Disco, from the main character's turmoil to an old war hero's ramblings about the city you're in, really do further the story in a tangible way.

Redout is a cool game with some deep flaws. + Awesome sense of immersion and speed + Has a system where the excellent music builds depending on your speed - really cool + Yes this is "the new Wipeout" + Lots of upgrades and a "career" mode to keep you playing even if you don't play online - Almost no advanced strategy is explained anywhere by the developers. - Even some of the basic features - like upgrading your hull - almost require a visual aid because they're difficult to spot for a newcomer. - ...to the point that it can actually be difficult to win some of the early events because you just didn't know what to do. - "Skin deep" concept. Sure making a new Wipeout is cool, but there's basically only one thing to do - go real fast - and aside from competing online against friends there's not really anything more to find here. Once you beat all the tracks including the "boss" tracks, you'll have seen all there is to see. Overall you can see why this is a frustrating game for some. If you bought the "wrong" starting ship or got the "wrong" upgrades, you'll quickly feel uncompetitive even in the Campaign mode. You may even have to restart a couple times until you hit on the right combo. And even then, most people don't spot features like hull upgrades. Even if you did, you'd better have picked the right hull to be spending your credits on! It's a little silly. The devs should have bothered to go back and patch in some hints, along with some buffs so the ships would be at least a little more balanced. There are a few ships and powerups that are just straight-up bad choices, and you shouldn't ever select them except as a joke. Advanced strategies not explained: - The physics intentionally make it faster to bump into walls to help you turn, taking a little damage, than to avoid the walls. The fastest players are constantly **** the rail to make tight turns. - There's a way to drift the ships to make hairpin turns - not explained anywhere (strafe opposite of the turn for a moment, steer into the corner, then quickly strafe in the same direction as the corner). - Some ships are much better than others. Leaderboards are dominated by the Sulha and sometimes the Asera, with Augmented Propeller + Turbo Boost upgrade. At the very least, these are "advanced" ships. Most beginners will prefer to learn with the more well-rounded ESA, and AugProp + Repair Drones will get you through a good bit of career while you learn to go easy on the walls. These are honestly the only 3 ships you need to consider. A couple more are competitive early on in career, but that's it.

Garbage. The only people who like this game are people who still think loot boxes are okay, seriously. The story? The entire emotional setup of the opening chapter lasts about 30 seconds, so by the time the "big plot event" happens you barely have any idea who these characters are and you certainly don't have any reason to care about them. No build-up, no payoff. The RPG mechanics? Hilariously bad. I hadn't been sufficiently warned by other reviews so here's the deal. You only get a few points to put into your SPECIAL stats at the start. This is because at any level up, you can put that point into any SPECIAL stat- OR IN ANY PERK IN THE ENTIRE TREE! This means that by Level 3 you could already have every single perk you really need for a super-overpowered build that will destroy combat for the rest of the game. In older fallouts, many perks were gated by level or by other perks so you had to build things on top of each other. That system was way more rewarding. Like the plot there's no build-up, so there's no pay-off. You don't feel like you earned anything on the entire tree- because you can get the "best" perk in the game at Level 1. Seriously. The shooting mechanics? This engine is old, ugly, buggy, and clunky. There's not getting around this. So even though the shooting is much more like "Caller Doody" than in past entries, it's still bad. So they sacrificed all the RPG elements, for mediocre-at-best- shooting. Not worth it. The time sinks? Base building / settlements are an MMO-style time sink. You really have to look up tips online for almost everything because the interface is awful and poorly described in-game. The materials are absolutely a time-waster. Trying to craft settlements, weapons, and armor will add literally tens of hours to your game- not by increasing the fun you'll have- but by making you pick up every freaking thing you run across to throw it into the recycling bin and turn it into crap. Bo-ring. Luckily, you can skip almost all of it. Deposit your normal armloads of crap into the bin, and combined with the easy game and overpowered perk system, you don't really have to worry about crafting good stuff to complete the game. Ever. The settlements? I'm not doing them except for the main story. Period. It's absolute bullcrap MMO-style time sinks. And the system behind the settlements is useless- anyone who actually cares about this part of the game has to mod it heavily to make it behave in a sane way. Short version- even if you arm your best settlement with way too many defenses, the game caps out at something like 80% chance they'll lose when they get attacked. It's stupid. There is no point. The business practices? Creation club is horrible business. They tried to make you pay money for community-developed mods. So people in the community improve the game, and Bethesda wants to profit off them. Absolutely greedy. Worst entry in the Fallout series, save for the "Fallout Shelter" mobile game. It's that bad. Do not buy at full price, ever. Maybe worth $15 if you're a hardcore fan. But 5 minutes in you may get a loading screen that spoils the biggest reveal in the entire plot since they're randomized. Non-spoiler.. the "new kind of robot" in the game was my second-ever loading screen. Now the whole second half of the game is spoiled for me. Who the hell decided that was okay?

Terrible game. There's nothing to like here, and so much that's annoying. People who say they like this game are overlooking A LOT of flaws. So let's run through some. Game comes on 3 discs- trust me there's less content than many 1 disc games this is an optimization problem. If Fallout comes on one disc, so can this. Lots of user interface issues, buttons feel very "sticky" so when you tab RB to switch weapons it usually brings up the quick-switch menu (hold RB) for a split second and takes a while to register that you meant a tap, meaning weapon changes are slow. I've often found myself tapping RB because I know I need the next weapon, and since it brings up the menu anyway, if I touch my stick accidentally at the same time during a heated fight all of a sudden I have a random weapon or ammo type I didn't ask for. WHY. It's just a sloppy interface. What else is slow? Conversations. Every NPC in the entire world is doing somewhere else when you walk up. You run up, put your cursor on them, but you can't talk yet. They start an animation like turning around, then they have some terrible dialog in a fake accent, and then you can finally hit A to talk to them. Oh but wait- hitting A actually initiated more recorded dialog, you need to wait through one or two of those, and THEN you can finally get your mission. Why? This is terrible, horrible, no-good game design. They're saying some nonsense when you walk up, THEN you have to ask them for more dialog, and THEN you have to interact again to get a quest. Just have them keep freaking talking, the false interaction is like the "Press F to pay respects" meme. What else is terrible? So your character gets binoculars (actually a monocular, oh how original). Anytime you're not holding a scoped weapon, hold LT to bring up the monocular. Okay great, I can zoom in now. EXCEPT, while you're zoomed in, you can still fire your pistol. So your character puts a telescope up to their left eye, and magically somehow they can now shoot their pistol super accurately. That's completely stupid. You actually see the animation where the character puts the telescope up to one eye and shoots with the other- imagine someone walking around doing that, it's ridiculous! Think I'm done? Animations. Enemies are usually doing crazy animations like running along walls or rolling or holding their wounds. That seems cool at first glance- until you realize they didn't fix the hitboxes. So if you try to punch an enemy while they're in the middle of an animation, you might even see blood spatter on your screen indicating a hit, but the enemy will be unharmed because they either had an invincibility frame or their hitbox was in a different spot I can't tell. Lots of enemies are shorter than you and they're constantly rolling, so if you have to shoot or punch them you'll tend to need to aim down to get their hitbox- except this game obviously wants you to score a lot of headshots, so you need to aim up to kill things quickly most of the rest of the time. But you aim up for headshots, and you're in a territory where you line up a great shot on an enemy and all of a sudden they have an antigravity animation where they start sticking to walls and they're totally gone from your scope. The developers needed to pick a focus- if enemies are going to be super mobile, you need some assault rifles and chainguns to spray flack at them. Instead, you start with shotguns and snipers so that if an enemy goes into an animation they move out from under your reticle and you miss. It's schizophrenic, in a bad way. Borderlands did a much better job, your character was a lot more mobile and you got a lot more high-ammo weapons so you could fight agile enemies toe-to-toe. Here I'm just fighting with my controller setup- I need lots of X sensitivity to turn around fast to hit rolling enemies, but I need to hit them with a headshot weapon, which needs lower sensitivity. What to do? Oh and enemies constantly do long death animations, and they still soak up bullets as they die, meaning you waste ammo until you pass the magic window when that stops. Thanks game. So it's a mess. I haven't even talked about the story (there mostly isn't one especially for many hours into the beginning). I haven't really gone into the voice acting (lots of celebrities doing accents so terrible people told me to mute the TV). I haven't really gone into the "homage" factor (the game has id company logos and Fallout bobbleheads, it's less paying tribute, more straight up borrowing). It's just an overall mediocre experience at best, not worth your time. For any good points, of which I'm having trouble finding any, there are many more terrible points to outweigh it. Did I mention vehicles? You hit the gas, they make one noise. You release the gas, they make a different one. Pulse the trigger and they make a godawful racket of rrr-EEE-rrr-EEE-rrr-EEE. ENGINES DO NOT WORK THAT WAY. Baffling game, terrible sloppy design. Do not play.

I quit. For reference, my favorite RPG of all time is Chrono Trigger, I love oldschool RPGs. This one is just awful. The game opens up with Anime Tomboy Girl waiting for Generic Father Figure to come home. Father tells Tomboy she is a Tomboy. Tomboy agrees she's a Tomboy. Generic Anime Hero Boy is introduced as having a Mysterious Background, and immediately gets physically assaulted by Tomboy, as one might expect if one has ever seen any anime in history. Boy is told to tell us his name, which is apparently a very long and completely uninteresting introductory cinematic which gives us absolutely no context for anything onscreen so it might as well just be random images off an internet search. Several images which are shown, most of which are static drawnings like one would see in a "visual novel" story game. The movie pauses for a good while on what I assume is supposed to be some noble crest, but which looks like you asked an 8-year-old to draw something to go on a Knight's shield and you chose a very boring 8-year-old. I alt-tabbed out to check the Metacritic score, were people really recommended this awful game? Why yes. So I went back in, and was immediately assaulted by what could have easily turned into an hour's worth of dialog boxes, one short walking segment, many more dialog boxes, then a selection of more dialog boxes that could assault me, I was asked to pick dialog boxes off a board, and then there were more dialog boxes. I don't care. The art looks like any second-rate visual novel. The dialog seems like it was written by a socially awkward 14-year-old anime fangirl (maybe it's just a terrible translation). I haven't even gotten to the first combat sequence and I'm already having to hold down a button to skip dialog. And even having read none of the dialog, I can still figure out the few actions I'm expected to perform going on nothing but broad genre tropes. Do you regularly get accused of watching awful anime? Then you'll like this game. Everyone else, stay away.

I paid $1 for this game on sale, and I feel like I got ripped off. First off, this is all-around a worse game than GRID- from graphics to handling, almost all aspects of this game are worse, so that more people play GRID today than play GRID 2. The handling in GRID is terrible. Basically all the cars in the game feel the same- the mere fact that FRONT wheel drive cars drift exactly the same way as REAR wheel drive cars is laughably stupid. The game is clearly "scripted" to a high degree. You'll race several races and be many seconds ahead of the competition at the finish, then enter a race and all of a sudden the same AI driver in the same car as last time is suddenly able to keep ahead of you on track. Car handling is also very scripted. There are clearly times when the game wants you to drift around corners- to the point that you can lose several seconds of time in a single corner if you don't drift correctly, which is just awful, because at other times you'll go for a drift and that corner is clearly programmed so you will either not gain any time or feel your car pulled toward the wall like a magnet. A game can't just arbitrarily switch around like this, I as the player don't know what to expect. They should have just made this a Wipeout-style game with speed-up patches and "drift zones" painted on the track in neon colors. At least then we wouldn't have to guess how the developers wanted us to drive. I could go on, but this game doesn't deserve it. I've put thousands of combined hours into Forza, Gran Turismo, Project Gotham... I love racing games. I turned off GRID 2 after about 2 hours of play. I just couldn't take it anymore. Uninteresting graphics, annoying "bro-sef" commentary, terrible and unpredictable handling... there's no reason to play this.

Personally, the Dreamcast version of Grandia II is among my top RPGs of all time. The story isn't massively original, but it does feature some mind-bending twists that are well worth experiencing. The combat system is great, a blend of turn-based and real-time where you queue up actions to perform, and those actions take more or less time to complete depending on the type and level of the action- things get strategic right off the bat, it's possible to pass the entire first dungeon without ever taking a single point of damage if you input your commands perfectly. Some say this makes the game "easy", but that's ridiculous, the game will slaughter you if you don't get good at strategy- it just rewards strategic players with awesome results. Absolutely every RPG fan should play this game. How does the PC port compare? It's such a direct port of the Dreamcast version, your old saves will still work if you can port them over. That's wonderful, as the Dreamcast version is the most bug-free version ever released. The updates include better graphics, and a "Hard" mode that according to the forums just adds 20% HP to all enemies- that doesn't really fix the complaints as you can still "juggle" bad guys to avoid damage and win battles without being touched, but hey the developers listened and replied, and it doesn't harm the base game at all. Highly recommended, it's a great port of an all-time classic game, now forever preserved so you don't have to have a Dreamcast to play it. Go. Buy. Play.
