Boring, sappy, and one of, if not the worst, Nicholas Sparks movies. characters are lifeless and pointless, this is an anti-romance. There struggles don't feel important enough to warrant a movie about them there romance feels dry and passionless, more centered around sexual attraction then a deep seeded love for each other- I just didn't buy it.

I really did not find this movie interesting at all. none of the characters really impressed me except the villain who I think met an unjust end. Besides the young robot girl he was the character with the most meaning through out the film. I think the ending would have had more impact if instead of killing off the cynical character they changed his mind and helped him to believe in humanity again. The movie claims to be about "optimism" but none of the characters optimism was believable, while the villain made the most sense through the movie its a shame they ended it the way the did. The movie could have shown true optimism by curing the cynic of his cynicism instead of killing him off. This was targeted at children but I found it pointlessly confusing and, while i'm sure they will enjoy the special effects, the message will be lost on them.

Not what I was expecting, and not what I wanted. upon entering this movie I assumed I'd be settling in for a comedy because of the cover photo. This is not a comedy, however, I would have been pleasantly surprised if this movie ended up being as deep as it was going for. It's not and neither are it's characters. The main actress plays an offensive and insolent character who does little to help herself or other women suffering from the main conflict, which I think is meant to be sexual abuse. I found the main character to be arrogant at times and unrelatable, she never really confronts the harsh topic at hand in a meaningful way. She makes poor choices (her poor choices inevitably lead this movie) that are made to look like the result of her past sexual abuse. The surrounding characters are as shallow and one-dimensional as the atmosphere of this movie and only serve the purpose of making you sympathize with the main character. But what I disliked most about this movie was the ending that is confusing and fools you into thinking the story is based off of real events when it's not. The ending really does the most damage to the movie because it ruins the tone of the movie and leaves it's message muddled. Is this movie meant to scare young women from making poor decisions? is it supposed to make you sympathize with victims of abuse? Is the ending meant to be left open ended for the viewers? All I know upon leaving this movie is that I was better off not watching it. overall I found this movie to be offensive to people who have actually suffered sexual abuse. especially the part where she says "he touched me but it felt good" Really? what the hell were they thinking.
