Trek to Yomi

A lot (nearly everybody) is and will compare this to Ghost of Tsushima. But the truth is they're not even in the same genre of game so it's not even a smart thing to do. Trek to Yomi is truly beautiful, simple in its execution of delivering a Kurosawa, monochrome style story that will allow you to play through 3-4 times thanks to a path choice midway through the game. The combat is simple and familiar to anyone whos played a game before. Light and heavy attacks can be mixed and matched, most of which you will find and learn as the game progresses, as well as the ability to alter simple light attack stokes using the right stick, to strike upwards, for example, which does add a little depth to the combat depending and what enemy you are facing. However, this will largely go unnoticed by those who will choose to just press square to win, which seems to be a valid tactic in this game, until you face a boss at least. Visually is where this game shines. The camera is not a concern here with it either being in a fixed position or panning along with you as you move through feudal Japan. Little collectibles are scattered through the levels, often in little hidden pathways that are not always obvious but not so difficult to spot either if you are actively looking, which if you're anything like me means you will be hugging every wall of the scene to see if there is a passage hidden or obscured for the chance of treasure or a sweet stat upgrade. Whether trekking through a village situated on two sides of a river below a gorgeous waterfall or preparing for a showdown with a bandit chief, framed by a burning torii gate, it's always a feast for the eyes gazing on scenes so symmetrical it would give Wes Anderson a hard on. You might struggle to take it all in a single shot. Even more incentive to play through the game once more for that alternate choice path. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong picking this up. It's great that there are still people that want to make video games that can be considered art. I would argue that this should be considered art.

I have had a lot of fun with this game. It may not be for everyone as some may find it too much **** at times and it can feel like you're a little underpowered in the beginning but some investment in the skill tree can really make up the difference. The text suffers from being a lazy port in that it's too small. Fine if you're on PC inches away from the screen but on a sofa a few meters away and it's difficult to make out a lot of the ship names sailing by or locations on the map. I have had a few crashes here and there and while annoying, you never lose much progress thanks to autosave every time you enter or exit a port. Hopefully, this will be fixed in the near future. The combat is simple and fun. You get to make use of the RPG element of the game by selecting equipment that suits you as well a four unique powers that range from sending a shark to attack the enemy ship, to becoming ethereal for a few seconds to increase speed and become immune to all damage. The game does well at offering new mechanics hours after the start to keep things fresh but it sometimes fails to explain certain things, especially when trying to determine your ship's stats on the inventory screen. Sometimes, items might show as a green increase to damage, for example, but it calculates critical chance into the power stat. At one point, at a glance, it looked like I had a cannon power level of 10k but in reality, it was about half that, so you have to be careful when equipping new gear that looks like it's an improvement. I recommend this game and for the price, you'll get your money's worth.

The Good Fair sized world Plenty of character creation choice A mature approach to nudity Interesting story Lots of potentials to expand The Bad Buggy and unfinished product Hard to follow at times Nicely designed city but no atmosphere More style over substance What was CDPR thinking of releasing a game in this state? The performance is woeful at time. Simple animations just freaking out, slow load times when opening the map/menu, some really basic stuff that there's really no excuse for. Performance isn't great and CDPR will have lost a lot of goodwill by deceiving players. Personally, I'm of the opinion that The Witcher 3 wasn't great at launch but they turned that around. Admittedly, this is a big mountain to climb but I have faith they will make it right. All the bugs aside, I have found it pretty enjoyable. I'm enjoying the narrative more than I thought I would but it can be a slog when they start chatting about tech like you're supposed to know wtf they're talking about. The game suffers from the common problem that all open-world games face in today's gaming landscape and that is they all feel flat and dull. A massive city, nobody around. The ones that are around ain't doing **** which, kinda makes sense narratively for this corpo world. It used to be ok 10, 20 years ago but players expect a bit of feel and buzz in their open-world experiences. Pair the lack of buzz with and NPC sitting on thin air or leaning on a wall but a good 2 feet away from it and verisimilitude goes right out the window. Character creation has plenty of options for you to create whatever weirdo you want. The ability to choose full nudity is a great inclusion and something I hope to see more of in mature games going forward. I thought for sure Sony would censor it. Matters like this should always be given to the individual to decide and not be told by companies that you can't see this. We have age ratings for a reason. Your outfit is your armour in this game which is nice. Means you can walk around in shorts and a vest without losing armour but, the best amour I have seen so far tends to come in the form of bigger, heavier items that are fit for purpose, which makes sense. Just once I would like my pink hotpants to protect me more than combat gear, sigh. 1 thing that has annoyed me is the lack of a hide armour feature. Unless I'm an idiot and have missed it somewhere, you cant choose to hide any clothes. I really want to hide my hat and mask slots but it doesn't seem to be possible. Seen a lot of people complain about the driving and I don't know what to tell you. It's basic and serves a purpose. I haven't found it too bad. This is an FPS/RPG, not Gran Turismo. Overall there's still a lot of work that needs to be done to bring this game up to its full potential. CDPR were kind of the last bastion of a safe and trusted developer for many gamers. But first impressions matter, ask Anthem, ask Marvel Avengers. It's what you will be remembered for and Cyberpunk is going to be, I think for a lot of people, remembered more for what it's done to CDPRs reputation rather than a game that was what seems to be, too ambitious in its reach. I will keep the faith for now that CDPR will keep working on Cyberpunk to make it the best it can be. And I believe they will in their own way, try to make it up to their audience, which is more than can be said for the rest of the AAA crowd. But they are on thin **** ice in my book. Because you can't tell me this game has spent 7, 8 years in development and release something of this quality. It would be a different story if this was another yearly or biennial title like AC has become. You would expect this level of quality. But 8 years!!! It's actually worse.

Take a bow SP, take a bow. I can appreciate a game like this may get tiresome and repetitive for some but I found the length just right. Beautiful landscapes, lots to explore, various ways to play and more than enough customizable options. The ability to play in full Kurosawa mode alone is worth a replay but I'm going to save that for the PS5 version.

Another great title in the Yakuza series. Could have done with a few less bouncing missions. It's a must if you have played Kiwami in all honesty and the same can be said about the franchise as a whole. Once your hooked, you'll want to play them all.
