The game is nice in the beginning, but it starts getting repetitive after a while. The story is decent, but the lack of dialogue makes it difficult to follow because the majority of it is written down. The world of Pandora feels empty; there are almost no NPCs besides the quest-giving ones. The game is too long — I didn’t have any will to keep playing the DLCs after the main story ended because I was actually torturing myself to play it until the end
Great campaign — I really enjoyed it. It’s the first Battlefield that doesn’t glorify war, but instead puts the player in situations that show what it would really be like if a war broke out and every citizen was forced to fight: lying dead on the battlefield. Of course, it’s not just that — otherwise, the game wouldn’t make sense to exist — but this element really made me reflect and changed the way I look at war games. Overall, it’s a great game and definitely worth playing.
This is the best Battlefield game in my opinion. I’ve played it a lot, mainly in multiplayer mode, but recently I played the campaign, and it is wonderful. The story is well-written and realistic — I think it set the standard for the best Battlefield stories in the series. The Battlefield campaigns that tried to differentiate too much from this one — Battlefield 4 and Hardline — fail to be as good or interesting. The multiplayer is awesome even today, years after its release.
I played this game a lot in the past, and recently played the campaign mode again.
The campaign story is really bad in my opinion. I never managed to connect with any of the characters because the story is too generic. I confess that I don’t remember many details — it’s just boring, predictable, and failed to keep me entertained while playing. The only part I remember clearly is when Dima appears and saves the characters from prison. That’s a shame, because I really like Dima and the story in BF3, and I think he deserved better than just a short appearance in such a weak campaign.
Putting the campaign aside, the gameplay itself is really good. The vehicle mechanics are solid, and the realism of the gameplay still holds up even by today’s standards. The multiplayer is great — it’s definitely the best part of the game in my opinion. But for me, the most important part of any game is its campaign.
I’ll rate this game based only on the campaign mode.
I was really disappointed with it, because I enjoy games about police work, like the SWAT series, Rainbow Six Siege, and the more recent Ready or Not. But this one is a shame for that family of games.
The story is poorly written, boring, and unrealistic. I know it’s a video game, but realism is an important thing to me — especially in the Battlefield series. It’s what made BF3 so good in my opinion. The driving is awful, and the overall mechanics feel unrealistic. The stealth system is also bad for the same reason — it’s just not believable. You handcuff someone and they instantly turn into a statue. And you can go around killing everyone like it’s something ordinary for a police officer, which is obviously untrue.
As a police officer, every time you kill someone you have to justify it in court, proving that it was in legitimate self-defense. That’s how it works in my country. I think this game is a disservice to police games and to police work in general. The absolute low point was when you get into a tank and start a full-on battle with another tank in the middle of a mission. That’s when I started wishing for the game to just end.
I believe this game had a lot of potential to tell a great story about police work — but it seems the developers had completely different plans.
I think it’s a great game, but I’ll only rate it based on the campaign mode — since that’s the one I played. The campaign is amazing, and the story of each mission is really touching. The ones I enjoyed the most were the tiger tank mission and the one about the Senegalese soldier who fought in France. The Senegalese soldier’s story was the one I appreciated the most — it even made me cry at the end. This kind of story is something I’ve been waiting to see for a long time in WWII games — stories that don’t usually appear in mainstream history.
I also liked the stealth element added to the game, which is completely optional. You can, if you want, just shoot everyone and keep progressing — but it’s really difficult to do that on the higher difficulty mode. This adds more realism to the game in my opinion, so that’s a big plus for me. Overall, I really enjoyed playing this game. The only bad part is when it ends.
Great game — one that stands the test of time. I played it when I was a kid and recently played it again on an emulator, and it’s still really fun. The gameplay is very well thought out — a mix of action and puzzle-solving that balances the adrenaline and keeps it from getting boring. The story is **** game is definitely worth playing — just don’t play on Hard or God mode, because it’ll feel too difficult and ruin the experience
