I grabbed this by accident because I had nothing to play. And then I was gone for 7 months. I never put as many hours into a game as I did w W3 (Over 200 hours logged in) I was so immersed into this world that world that I read all the books. I was 35 and I never knew gaming could be so great. This game is the pinnacle of gaming. It was better than Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, FF7 and all the games I played in my childhood. The hype is real.
As a western Asian, I delayed playing this game for obvious reasons. They plugged in a black dude as the main character in a game based on PERSIAN mythology. Yes, the Persian EMPIRE was diverse, but Persians are a people and an ethnic group. Anyway, the main guy is not the prince. WIth that aside, the game is AMAZING. It is the best-looking metroidvania I have ever seen. It's huge, has lots of enemies and beautiful worlds. It's not quite on the Hollow Knight level and not as deep as Blasphemous, but pretty close. If you like metroidvanias, you will love this.
This game is the reason I will never trust critics again. I saw soooooo much praise for this game that I assumed it's good. But no. This game is not good at all. In fact, it's a horrible game. There's nothing to do in this game. And I mean NOTHING. You just walk ahead, sometimes you do a random puzzle, and then fight one of the 2 existing enemies. using the same 2 moves. The only good thing about this game, which prevented me from giving it a 0, are the visuals and the sad story. I don't care about the "message" for menthal health. I don't care about the "message" of a strong woman. The critics were afraid to criticize its gameplay for these exact reasons and praised it. It **** me.
This game will stay with you for years and years. It is brutal. It is punishing, and you will love every minute of it. It is one of the best metroidvanias ever made, perhaps second only to Hollow Knight. The only criticism I had is the lack of the map.
I kept ignoring this game because I thought it was Mickey Mouse bull***t and for kids. Trust me, it's not. This is the best metrodivania ever made other than Super Metroid and Castlevania SOOTN itself.
This game is simply RPG perfection. It's everything modern Final Fantasy should've been. As someone who has played RPGs since early 90s, I was simply stunned. The world, the characters, the story, the music - it is all perfect.
