Pre-Squel is a strange footnote deserving more attention, or at least study. BL2, however, is a boring, slog that needs serious reevaluation. Absolutely embarrassing this was anyone’s fave game.
Like every one of these “To Do” list games you’re best off ignoring most of the side content and focusing on the campaign. Impressive, if at times overwrought presentation throughout. Music no slouch either. Lots of wasted potential here, but compelling in its messiness.
Making do with clumsy PC controls will be a constant with ports until the sun dies so in the meantime lets celebrate what we have. Played thru this twice now, done some trophy clean up, and with a guide in hand its so fun to explore the depths of the levels and soak in all that 2.5D beauty. As a lifelong console gamer I never got the full breadth of PC style FPS’ so I relish this game’s retrowave energy even listening to the OST at work.
Slick, gorgeous game world and feel to pour dozens of hours into unlocking rewards after every mission. Only one player per team needs DLC for everyone else to enjoy and full crossplay support means I never had trouble finding a match. You like L4D? Here, have some more!
6th gen simplicity for those burnt on open world slogs. No XP, just Metroid style upgrades that signify your narrative progress. Barebones combos supplemented by Left 4 Dead 2 quality gore. Best of all, a tight, angry B movie story told in just 9 hours with an engine that flexes with reflective blood pools & joyous ragdolls. Lots of cheat codes and costumes to toy with after the fact or even before finishing the campaign.
