Disco Elysium, Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Half Life 2, Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Baldur's Gate 3, Planescape: Torment, Fallout 2, Quake, Need For Speed Most Wanted, Bioshock, Mass Effect 2, KOTOR, DA: Origins, System Shock 2, Dark Souls 3, Neverwinter Nights, Final Fantasy VII, Deus Ex, Alan Wake 2 - I played it all, but none of them felt as natural and heart-warming. When you're waking at Boshena's house at 5 A.M to wash your face, then setting up for journey and when you're being attacked by bandits when going to Trosky, barely making it out alive, and coming out of the woods just to be greeted with a rising sun - KCD 2 is a genius game with one of the best quest design in a RPG genre.
It doesn't deserve 10 out of 10 but honestly I don't give a damn. What a ride, superb voice acting combined with razor sharp, funny dialogues. Have you watched "Smiling Friends"? It's on par with that considering the natural tone of converstation you get from characters interacting with each other. It's a type of game that leaves you so happy and hyped with each episode and also with an unspeakable void after you finish it. Unbelievable what the boys cooked with this one. Such a fun little game - original, quirky, polished - without any mumbo jumbo. Hop on this one mate - the sooner the better.
You certainly can play it but the main question you should ask is why should you. It's bad but it's not "good bad", rather it's "bad boring bad". I don't understand why they made this game like this. This is just... It's ungodly. Whatever is not mediocre is just straight up broken, non-existent, boring or a chore. The combat's mediocre, music's mediocre, graphics mediocre. Whoever made this a coop game doesn't play coop I suppose. There is no synergy between characters, no powers, no roles, nothing. Characters are as annoying as flies on a barbecue. The story is non existent. The weapons have no punch at all. I can't believe they made this. Did they really think they would scrap some buck on this kind of product?
A game brimming with life, full of sweet juice that ignites the senses and induces a strange reverie. These are the times of our ancestors, the times of their lifestyle, their way of thinking, dressing, doing, talking, eating, sleeping, being, and it shows. Spectacular plants and buildings, as if delicately selected by a painter. Plenty of fruit and wine. Sun and love. Blood and betrayal. American dream and brotherhood. It's all here; you just need to stand still for a moment and see—I mean, really see—what the developers really wanted to achieve and express. It pours out of the screen. Remember to play with Sicilian voices - I think you won't regret it.
It has beautiful graphics and the fighting system is nice. Also the overall plot is in my opinion interesting. The main problem is the lack of any ability to role-play in RPG and writing - even when it's not trying to push economical, social, sexual, political agendas - it's just cringy and boring. So you have a good game burred under bad decisions and it comes out just average. It doesn't deserve a higher score imo
"Don't listen to them. Listen to us!" - What a ride. This is absolutely phenomenal game. Graphically like real Iceland (thematically too xD). Love, war, death, landscapes, insanity, acting, losing your mind, testing your fear, sound design, teological thesis, philosophical subjects, music, finding yourself, imagination, gore, drawning in horror, subtle gesticulation, details, details, details, voice acting. I mean, what a ride. Go, experience it and don't listen to normies
Lovely tone, engaging puzzles, phenomenal cast, great dialogues, amazing sound effects and even better stylized music, the design of the locations is a class in itself, the story can surprise, absorb and make you reflect. Does it have any flaws? It certainly has. Is it possible to turn a blind eye to them? With everything this charming game has to offer... It certainly is!
What can you say, I mean - It's bad. It's worse than first 4 games, than Unity, than Origins, Valhalla. It's gutted version of something that was supposed to be completely different title in order to adjuste it to the whole "back to the roots" mumbo jumbo. It lacks combat, it lacks polish, it lacks story, it lacks structure, it lacks any originality. Rpg systems gone, big world gone, bows gone, and parkour is the same one they used to make protagonist traverse massive country. It doesn't work. Story is garbage - it doesn't answer even one main question from Valhalla and of course fans are saying about - they're gonna tell it in DLC. I mean, Jesus Christ, what a disaster. Apart from that - you seen this milion times and better. It's not fun. Don't bother.
The score in this game is absolutely superb - very lingering, rich, deep ambient soundtrack that can show its teeth on many occasions presented in a game. It's accompanied by crispy, clicky sound effects of the retro-futuristic, analogue technology, which not only sound great, but also look absolutely astonishing. The feeling of discovery and alienation/open space and isolation is almost always there with occasional breaks for reflecting while admiring stunning landscapes. Even something simple as water seems fascinating, and for some reason as a player I wanted to step into the first large puddle the second I saw it.
The story keeps asking new questions and highly educated characters put in difficult situations try to find meaning and explanations for phenomena that humanity has known since the cradle or has not encountered at all, both in the context of their mission on Regis III and the complexity of life in the universe at large. It is engaging, eventful and full of elements that slowly fall into place throughout the plot.
The characters are played very well and written even better. They have their own principles, personalities and interests closely related to their chosen professional career. According to the overall perception of astronauts, they are highly-skilled enthusiasts driven by passion - fearless, but still human.
Throughout the game you make choices that shape the ending (there's 11 of them) and it's always a nice thing to have some roleplay in your walking-sim. Apart from that gameplay is very simple - walking, driving, interacting and watching an animation - no shooting, no jumping, no way to die - but based on my experience of how it sometimes was implemented in other games ( I'm looking at you - Scorn) I believe that's a good decision.
I say, play the game, It's worth those 6 hours - you certainly won't regret it
It'd a damn good game but it has some issues. The main problem is the story - the construction of it is misconseptive and unfortunetly your choices don't come together at the right moment, feel like they don't matter at all, and you really don't develop any bonds with so generic characters. (dialogue feels like someone wrote it not in his native language and then translated it back if you catch my drift - writing is filled with flat epithets, **** comparisons, moments straight from a B-movie like "Welcome to the paradise" - I mean Jesus Christ, give it some heart, some originality, spice, flavour, not this mumble jumble **** - It is apocalypse after all!) So the actors generously endowed with these type of text either nailed it (Aiden) or meh or there was something like Hermann (I have a suspicion that he read the script and was like "Hey guys maybe make my character deaf and spare me this opportunity allright?") Animations sometimes work, sometimes don't, there are many bugs to be resolved by devs. Gameplay is fantastic, parkour mechanics, fighting system - after couple of hours in a game it just clicks and you want MORE and MORE and MORE and MORE (****) - which of course is strictly tied to skill system that feels really rewarding and well measured. Side quests are fun like a piñata - those mini-stories were so much better than a main one. Art-style presented at E3 was superior to the looks of final product but I mean... it's still gorgeus Graphics is not top tier by any means, and optimalization is 5/10 (PC)/but music is memorable and sound effects are crispy and enjoyable. Some changes like risk at night, lack of guns (but there is a bow and a spears), Weapon upgrade system, crafting etc. - Opinions about it are arbitrary for example most folks didn't play at night in DL1 and now folks complain because it is too easy and they don't feel pressure - i mean you can't both have a cookie and eat a cookie It's a very fun game, the most of it can be repaired within a year, and I have complete trust in Techland that it's going to be 2 points better - but for now - it is what it is.
