Undertale8

It was so odd playing this for the first time a week ago because I already knew everything. I've known everything since 2015 and somehow someway it felt a bit new to me. Firstly I want to get a complaint out of the way and that is that Alphys is so bad and annoying that I'm genuinely docking points. When you have a game about mercy and forgiveness and making connections, having one of the supporting cast being that awful in every conceivable way hurts the story and I am not messing with you. Maybe if there was more of an attempt to make her character do anything positive at all then I wouldn't be complaining about it. The game also really feels like it was made in RPGMaker, which I don't think it is but there is a bit of stank to it. The music in the game is so much better than I remember. I feel like we all take Undertale's music for granted because it is literally everywhere but it really is quite nice! The gameplay is also very nice and I like it a lot. The decision to make the enemy take up the whole screen was such a good choice given the act and mercy mechanics. Or maybe it wasn't a choice I don't know it works either way. The bosses were also a big standout for me. I really liked Undyne and Mettaton EX a lot but that's not really an interesting opinion. I did the Pacifist route and the Normal route and while Asriel was a good fight, I liked Omega Flowey so much better. Flowey might be my favorite character in the game he is so interesting. I've never really seen a foil to the player before and it's just so fun I love it. At the end of the day Undertale is a great game. I wouldn't say I was disappointed by it but it definitely was not as amazing as I was expecting it to be after all the love it got for a decade straight. It was a very compact experience that allowed for an in depth experience, which is the exact reason why Yakuza is also amazing wait a minute.

Pizza Tower10
Jul 9, 2025
I didn't really want to play Pizza Tower at all because I thought it looked gross, but I promised my friend that I'd play it if they played Ghost Trick and here we are. The game does look gross but in like a sick nasty radical way. It is astounding how good it feels to move fast in this video game and I don't understand how Sonic couldn't do this for 25 years. Every part of Peppino's arsenal feels specifically made to make going fast feel like you just had intercourse in a sick nasty radical way. I love his dives and his different speedy punches they're really fun. I used to hate little things about Peppino's moveset like the way he dashes and the different ways that he throws enemies, but the more I play the game the more I am just infatuated with the way he does everything. It might be my favorite game to control behind Celeste it is so insanely good. The animation is so incredibly amazing. If you hold down the taunt button Peppino just starts busting it down sexual style and that's chill. I love the little Tv in the top right that shows little buddy and how much character it gives him. I'm usually not paying attention because of how fast he is going but every so often I'll take a little peaksie up at the screen and this jokester will be making a very funny face! John Gutter is so fugly that it won't seem like it at first but every single other stage is an absolute feast to the eyes. Speaking of the stages, it is amazing what lengths that they've gone to making every single one so unique. One stage you'll be running through the desert into a UFO and then you're going to space and then you're at the whims of Mort the Chicken from the hit game Mort the Chicken on the PS1 and then you're in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and then you are in war it is so fun. A big part of the stages that I love is that the devs are not afraid to make a gimmick to fit a stage and keep it in the stage. I love Mort the Chicken as much as the next guy but I don't think he would really fit any other stage in the game, and he doesn't need to. When I first played this game it was a very low 8 out of 10, then after a bunch of time playing it was a 9 out of 10, and at the very moment everything finally clicked it became one of the easiest 10 out of 10s that I have ever experienced.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition10
Jun 3, 2025
I haven't played this game in five years and coming back to it has been a treat. Back then I didn't really know what I was looking for in a game, but now that I have a more defined idea of what I like I wanted to give Xenoblade Chronicles another go around to see if I loved it as much as I did five years ago. Xenoblade Chronicles is a game dripping with beauty around every corner, and it makes me so incredibly happy. I especially liked the Nopon Forest and the High Entia Lake which are just so fun. I love how homey some areas feel even in a post-apocalyptic war torn war; they are often so pretty that the war gets forgotten. The story is very very good and I love how it interacts with all of the characters. Sharla, Melia and Shulk were all standout characters this time around, but above all else I really wish that Riki got a bit more screentime. It is so interesting to me that the oldest member of the group is a Nopon and especially how wise he can be while also being as Nopon as they get. I absolutely loved the main villain and the simplicity of the events that made him become they way he is; I loved all of the villains almost as much they are a very fun group. I didn't really mess with Alvis the first time around but I've really come around to love him and his relationship with Shulk. The combat could definitely be better, but I kinda liked it. There's something soothing to me about chipping away at a giant healthbar. There is a bit of complexity with a lot of moves doing more damage depending on how you're positioned in relation to the enemy, but it doesn't matter too too much. The side quests would be alright in any other game, but I think they work pretty well here. I like taking a stroll around and doing a bunch of tiny things for different people, especially when I have the affinity chart to look and and see just how many people I've helped along the way. That being said there are definitely a bit too many, but I don't think its that big of an issue. Xenoblade Chronicles will always hold a special place in my heart for showing me just how beautiful the world can be, and on top of that for just being a really solid package. There are a few problems, but none of which I feel drags the game down too much and the things that it does right really hit. I wish I could articulate just how much I love this game a bit better, but that's alright.

This is such a beautiful game and I both can't describe it for you and do not want to. This game made me feel seen, it made me feel calm and above all else it made me curious. I do not usually do a lot of looking around in games but I spent hours exploring the whole thing and finding everything I could. There were multiple parts of the game that left me completely speechless, especially the bathroom cutscene. It absolutely boggles my mind that this game is free and I can not wait for the other parts to come out and I would be happy if they could capture even a fraction of the soul of this first part. Even if you don't think this is your cup of tea, I beg of you to pick it up and play it which should take you around an hour.

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars3
May 14, 2025
I got the Trilogy on sale because I thought that it looked really interesting, and it earnestly really is. I have never really seen a game go for something like Voice of Cards and I really do appreciate the thing that they're trying to achieve, but they just didn't really do anything interesting at all. The story is just fine with some standout low points especially at the end which is so sad because this would be the perfect game to just have a bunch of tiny little side quests instead of some boring ass main plotline about some random ass dragon. The combat is fine, but at this point with RPGS I don't think just fine is going to cut it. One thing that really pissed me off is that there is only one voice actor and he plays the part of a dungeon master. I know that it's supposed to mimic the experience of playing in a D&D group or something similar, but at that point just get multiple voice actors to play their respective character. It is extraordinarily hard to get attached to any of the characters when they cannot emote and do not have their own voice and yet the game ends with you making a character centric decision which makes me feel absolutely nothing. The game also has VERY few music tracks and the music does not change when transitioning from the board to a battle which makes me so mad. Just because they have a really interesting gimmick doesn't excuse them removing all of the personality from the game. I am not the type of person to go out of my way to play bad games, so when I get interested in something and it turns out to be bad it really hurts. All this being said I really do still respect it for doing something different. I have only played this one out of the Trilogy but at some point I really do want to go back and play the other two to see if they were done any better.

New Super Mario Bros.9
May 13, 2025
Super Mario is pretty cool and this game shows that off pretty well. I like 2D platformers but I don't think that any of them control that well other than Super Mario and Celeste and especially with New Super Mario. This game feels like a dream to control and it is on the Nintendo DS which is zany because nothing controls well on this thang. I like the little creatures that appear in most of the levels I feel like most other Super Mario games are a bit lacking in that department. The soundtrack is also very good I like it a lot. The only things that I don't really like are the worlds themselves because there isn't really any interesting theme across the bunch and the bosses. I really like the design of the bosses but you just kinda jump on all of them three times, which I don't know what else I was expecting from Super Mario but I'd still like something more fun. Bad Mario games don't really exist and New Super Mario is one of the better ones I like it a lot.

Pokemon Y8
Mar 3, 2025
I had a lot of fun playing through Y again and that is awesome. I was a tiny guy when this first came out and I loved it a lot just because it was Pokémon, but coming back to it made me realize that Kalos really caters to what I tend to look for in a game. I like having silly little creatures, looking at pretty visuals and running around a pretty world. I love how many silly towns without gym leaders there are that just look very nice like Dendemille and Ambrette town. I love it when I sit down on a bench in Santalune City and I can see the city from a separate point of view. The music is very pleasant and memorable and it makes every route feel like a tangible part of the journey. The game definitely is very easy, but if the game is fun I don't really care about that much. I don't have anything to prove and it's wonderful just to coast and enjoy yourself. With all this said the story and writing is ass ass it is so bad. You shouldn't expect a great story from any Pokemon game but I did not realize just how bad X and Y had it. The big group of rivals definitely shows this the most, but I never really minded it at all. Since I don't go in looking for the story it doesn't upset me when it isn't good, but it was just so bad that I noticed it anyways. There is a really good chance that you will not like this game and that is so fine. I don't think that it's as impressive as Black and White in a lot of ways and I definitely don't think that it is good enough to make a comeback in pop culture by itself like Black and White has. This is a game that you liked if you played it when you were younger or if you're going in with specific things you want to get out of it, and I had both of those things going in and it turned out great. I do think that the game is a 7/10, but I think it's asinine that a 7/10 is treated as "Mixed or Average" and I don't feel comfortable putting this game under that category.
