Look at the movies out now for Christmas and what a mess you will see. This is what Hollywood drops for its consumers. And the worst of all is this Star Wars movie which is unbearable. The dialogue unbearable. The lack of sophistication unbearable. I walked out and took a stroll thru the mall with my GF and that was far more interesting. The only decent movie now playing is Knives out and that is 1 out of 12 at my theater. Disgusting.
late in the movie during a huge celebration for winning Miles starts telling Shelby how to make the car go faster and Shelby, with the crowd celebrating all around says..."well what are we doing here?". The 2 guys were living their lives just as they **** for some payoff down the line but for the process itself. Awesome movie. Crowd pleaser. Lots of applause in the theater at the end.
Wow. Maybe my favorite movie of the year. Hilarious. Really funny. Clever classic satire. Every scene, scene after scene is intriguing. I don't know how the director did it. He hit a triple or home run over and over. Go see this movie ASAP. Highly recommended.
Chill people. The movie is entertaining, well paced, good action and makes sense. No it is not a classic like T1 and T2. It's just a movie that feeds off those older story lines and tries to move forward with something new. If you want a spiritual successor to the original Terminator movies go out and make one. Meanwhile enjoy this movie for what it is.
The movie shows us what we thought all along - Miles was a superficial artist and person. Miles gives cool a bad name. At one point an acquittance describes Miles music as a stone skipping across a pond. Very true. No depth, everything on the surface. Same with Miles himself. He wife Francis was perfect for him. Another image conscious partner who 50 years later is still bragging about what great legs she had as a young woman and how many guys want to "blank" her. If you want a fair assessment of Miles Davis life this doc gives it to you. But if you are a big fan of his music you might consider staying away because the man himself was a lightweight, a drug user, wife beater and in the end a loser.
This is a great movie y'all. Not a crowd pleaser, not easy to watch, but authentic and almost too real. Phoenix is superb. The director gets a lot of credit here for sticking to his vision, not even a tiny bit playing to the crowd. This is like a memoir come to life on film. Highly recommended.
There are some large and annoying and notable problems with the physics out in space in the film. Sorry to say it just cannot be ignored. Just prepare yourself for some deep "whatever" moments and enjoy the depth of the emotional story, the visuals, the Brad Pitt performance, the music and the ambience.
I've seen 100 movies this year and this is my favorite. The comedy is 100% organic and hilarious. The whole movie makes total sense. Go see this movie. Off the subject Metacritic has the worst search engine in human history. I typed "The farewell" into the search bar. 6 results show up none of them this movie. How is that possible? Do the same thing on Google, which is searching the entire world wide web and you get this movie. How can a search engine be that bad? We have the answer right here on Metacritic.
Likable actors. Check. Fun dialogue. Check. Dumb stunts. Check. Cars hooked to a helicopter trying to bring is down but the helicopter keeps climbing so more cars hook onto the existing cars. Check. What were you expecting? Good movie. Check.
Possibly the worst lighting I've ever seen in a movie. That is a giveaway of the production values and overall quality. Terrible movie. The target audience for this movie must be the smallest ever. People who find male power issues leading to unneeded violence funny.
A heartfelt movie that takes boring and predictable to new levels. I guarantee you have heard every joke in this movie and can predict every scene outcome. THIS is where Hollywood movies are today. Get some paint, put in on your bedroom wall and watch it dry that will be more entertaining.
I enjoyed my last trip to the grocery store more than this movie. Moondog seems to be having less fun that a normal person going about a normal day. He gets high, drunk, dances with the nearest girl, spews poetry, and staggers around. For 95 minutes. THAT is it folks. Nothing to see here.
Character. Writing. Photography. Acting. These things make critics swoon. I prefer entertainment, excitement, originality, imagination, intensity, emotion, drama and comedy. Roma has none of those things. If you are quite young, or naive, or a film critic who goes gaga on the story of a normal sensitive young women you may like this film. If you want entertainment go elsewhere. Boring movie.
Marketing Fail of the Century! Good movie y'all. Better than about any other in the genre. Very interesting world which is both fantastic and seems real. Design, execution, story, everybody gets an A except the publicity folks need to be fired, and barred from working in the industry ever again.
Probably the worst blend of comedy and drama ever. Some great comedic moments. Potential for great dramatic moments. Horrible combination of the 2. Great acting. Compare Vice to a movie like American Hustle which put comedy and drama together perfectly. Vice is entertaining and very very disappointing.
Bomb. Who gave the green light? Jude Law, Portman and nothing come alive. The lighting must have been done by Stevie Wonders less sighted brother. The first half of the film is so dull you could do an errand at Walmart and be more entertained. The second half has Portman as a very unlikable character emoting nonstop but to what end? We don't know. Clean under your refrigerator. Call an old friend. Take a nap. Just Don't go see this movie.
This movie reminded my of the opening statement of the Hurt Locker - "War is a drug". It is and Marie Colvin was addicted. You watch her make bad choice after bad choice and shake your head. Extreme sport enthusiasts will recognize the type right away...addicted to the rush but cannot step back and assess the risk. So they push until they die. There is not much more here to see. Just a woman bent on self destruction and justifying it by telling herself that her work matters, and the folks in safe in cities giving her accolades who reap the benefits.
Why is it critics cannot spot a bad movie? Because they overvalue writing, they overvalue character development and they overvalue leftist political ideology. Jerky non sequitur scene choices and pacing for a full hour to start the movie? Very bad first half of this movie folks there is no way around it. The second half is better, ....could have been a good heist movie and character study. Instead it falls flat in too many places. Watch this under perform at the box office. Luckily audiences can spot a loser if critics cannot.
Early in the movie a highly respected climber says "imagine needing an Olympic Gold level of excellence and if you fail you die". Those are the stakes here. "Man on Wire" was my previous favorite documentary. If you want to see an example of extremely high mental health watch that movie. This movie matches Man on Wire. The insight into human nature here is riveting. Why do we do what we do?
2 hrs and 21 minutes is way too long. Some excruciating long dialogue scenes panning back and forth between 2 characters with absolutely nothing happening. Cut 50 minutes out of this film. Spice up the dialogue and put original music in place of oldies and you have a real good film.
Reilly always seemed a second fiddle. But here he shines and carries the movie. The movie is utterly unpredictable. Many many small things to enjoy.
Skip Halloween and instead see this little gem. Enjoy.
Not a crowd pleaser, not a deep psychological story, not a thriller, not an effective drama. What is this movie? I see why the audience reactions are tepid. It seems like something big, something dramatic should be **** where is it?
The director never delivers.
Wow people don't read the duh mass critics on this! Venom is great, funny, entertaining and classic comic book style movie that makes total sense start to finish and doesn't try to be something it's not. Gotta believe this movie will have legs and lasting power beyond the theater release. Kids of all ages will immediately get the whole premise.
Ever seen a chronic alcoholic with 6 pack abs? Watch this movie. Bradley Cooper plays to most buff gorgeous alcoholic in history. This makes me want to gobble pills and pound Vodka. Forget the gym. Wow. Good movie.
Moore, AKA The Human Dumpster, gives a passionate call to action here. Hey Mike, guess what? People already got super motivated and did something about it. His name is Donald Effing Trump! Moore is trying to inspire folks sitting on their moms basement couch eating Cheeto's and saving up for a new bong. They wouldn't get up to vote Socialist on a phone app. Moore makes me sick. He gives speeches in Europe about how bad the USA is, then comes back here and spews out his drivel. And what about the brainwashed film critic drones? How is it that 100% have the same political views? Could it be they have zero life diversity, zero education diversity, zero free thinking, and get all their news from the same liberal sources? Yes that is possible. Go see any other movie. Paint your bedroom and watch the paint dry. And go to the donut shop early because if Moore beats you there they will all be gone.
Comedy folks. And it all works thanks to the superb 2 female leads. The fashion is simply outstanding. If you like seeing stunning fresh lovely dresses on clever movie stars giving unique comedic **** you absolutely SHOULD like those things...then see this movie.
Sorry but this movie is extremely annoying. First, what happened with the production values? Very poor lighting. Incredibly basic camerawork, set design, cinematography? Film is a visual medium folks. Take your favorite Nick Hornby movie and cut the entertainment value in half. Then do that 2 more times. Viola, you have this movie.
Everybody always says the book is way better than the movie. This book is way way way way better than the movie. That would be 4 times better but its exponential. So the book is 64 times better. Don't see this movie. Buy the book, settle in for a day, a be prepared for total amazement, inspiration, entertainment, and awe. THEN buy the next book Banco which tells about Papillons life after escape. Follow my advice be bored and waste a precious day of your life. Your choice!
What do all film critics have in common? They have never made a film. They elevate words over action. Theory over results. D' Souza go it done though. He presents his position with clarity and it runs opposite to the typical Hollywood, liberal, urban based, film critic drone position. Michael Moore trashes the USA in speeches around Europe then spews out films in America. D' Souza does not. He recognizes America for its sheer excellence that draws folks from around the world. See this film. Maybe you disagree with it. But its the opposite of 5 decades of Hollywood values rejected by tens of millions of us.
Challenge: watch the whole movie without covering your eyes or plugging your ears and not vomit. You cannot do it. Never been done. Never will. Donald Trump will be humble before that happens.
Clooney and Reiner are fighting it out for who can make the worst, most out of touch, most tone deaf movie of the year. Reiner still thinks its 1995 and thinks people believe the now discredited Fake News liberal propaganda machine. Could be a tie between George and Rob for most clueless Hollywood liberal.
The movie provides one half of relevant information on the subject. The other half starts with famine and war being at all time lows in human history and displacement or migration or movement of peoples not only all time lows but the most natural part of human history of all. The movie says under 10% of people have been displaced. For 99% of human history humans were nomads. There were no nations states or cities. Humans thrived and became the dominant species on earth. Movement and migration is in our DNA. Plague, famine and war were the biggest threats to life for millennia upon millennia. Not any more. Far more people die of obesity than famine. Cancer than war. Car accidents than plague. Keep your skeptical hat on when watching movies like this. They invariably provide only one side of an issue.
One name. Denzel. He makes the movie. Solid throughout. Good score. Good characters. But Denzel makes the movie fascinating. He is a movie star. Knows when to underplay. But always has his power. Go see this and save Mamma Mia for Netflix and Chill where you miss it entirely.
WorryFree Inc. is a Silicon Valley start up featured in this movie which provides housing food and clothing to anybody who wants it. In return they work at menial jobs. Well y'all that pretty much describes 90% of California. CA has become a welfare state with a few super rich people and a whole bunch of poor, lazy, low class moochers who survive off the work of others. The whole state is going downhill at a record pace. Looking at 2030-2040 for full implosion.
Purge. So get to it. Literally 1/2 an hour before anything happens. Advice: deliver on the title when you make a movie. **** - tall building. A Quiet Place - minimal sound. Isle of Dogs - Dogs on an Island. And Purge - Purge.
Excellent movie. Captures the spirit of what happened. Makes you feel it. Clever and entertaining. Kudos to the director here. Everything works. Timing, editing, interviews, reenactments. Bravo.
Major Caution!! The movie is filmed in 1:37 aspect ratio. So the film takes up about the middle half of a theater screen. Extremely annoying. There is symmetry in some shots but the visuals are terrible.....a very ugly movie. No score to the movie. Totally character driven **** critics who are ALL in the cult of character rate the movie highly. There is a lot, a LOT, to dislike about this movie... My pet peeve....movies are a visual art form. Make them attractive to look at. FAIL.
What a lost chance. The acting is great. The story is solid. The cinematography score for this film is minus 1000. London is a drab drab city yes. But still give us something to look at please. Film is a visual medium!
Melissa is a genius. If you don't believe me watch Identity Theft and look for the diner scene. Now, would you go see Einstein speak after he invented the Theory of Relativity? Yes you would. So go see this movie.
I don't believe it. Metacritic IMPROVED THEIR FREAKING SEARCH ENGINE! I've been on this site since day one. Metacritic, hands down, had the worst search function in the universe. Now it appears to be normal like something from THIS CENTURY. oh and the grace jones **** see it.
There is one reason this movie is so great and his name is James Salter. Salter is one of the most brilliant writers we have. He was a military pilot and writes about flying better than any writer in history. Salter is just pure talent pure class purely beautiful feelings and expression. Redford is good and the directing is good but the highest quality comes from Salter. See the movie and enjoy. When you are done find Salter books on flying and read every one. They will blow you away.
Trolls, who didn't even watch the movie, are out in force here. Ignore them. The movie has some true funny moments. The overall vibe is fairly a fairly sweet rom com.
Lets say you just painted your bedroom and have a choice of what to do next. You can go see this movie or stay home and watch the paint dry. Staying home will be the more entertaining option.
Butler is very entertaining. Solid thriller heist movie with oddball characters, action, cars and guns. Only film critics, otherwise known and folks who have never made a movie, could find lots of things to hate here. You on the other hand will not. Enjoy.
Bad. Terrible. Egregious. Imagine a cool looking lady walking thru a movie murdering people with no set up, no tension, no reaction, no ramifications. You don't need to. This movie does it for you. So bad that they use the powerful Tina Turner song as an intended climax of hitman assassinations and EVEN THEN the whole scene is dead as a fish. Wow. Stay home. Paint your apartment. Then watch the paint dry. You just saved $10 ticket price.
