Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker4

Was anxious to begin this game subsequent to reading the many positive reviews. It turned out to be a major disappointment to me. Way, way to many cut scenes where control of the game is taken completely away from the player. Basically the game consisted of watching a movie, broken up be mob/boss fights that require massive button pressing. Perhaps the story the movie tells is great … but I became bored and frustrated in that I had to WATCH, rather than PLAY, the game and frenetic button pushing does not make for an enjoyable gaming experience.

I have found the frame rate and graphics perfectly acceptable in this game. The desire to explore this beautifully rendered open world is quite strong. However, it stops there. I know a lot of players truly love the mechanics of figuring out how to defeat a tough boss, and this game will surely hit the mark for them. For me, and those that really enjoy exploring an open world with some tension lingering to make the exploration process more alluring. This game crushes that joy of exploration. Explore a little, encounter a mob that takes a long, repetitive effort to defeat, explore a little more, then spend a long tine trying to defeat the next mob. It saps all the fun and joy out of exploration. I have purchased From After playing this game for awhile, I am revising my score from a 3, to a 10. It took me awhile to get the hang of character development and advancement … but once I did, Elden Ring has quickly become my favorite game of all times. The joy of exploration and experiencing how the plot unfolds is totally immersive. Love it.

This game is broken and for now I would not purchase it. I did. The game begins with an unclothed character in a room, with the initial order of business being to put on the clothes lying about, interact with a few other things, then open the door to leave. None of the tasks could be accomplished in that the controller was not interfacing with the game correctly. I am really wondering how all the reviewers were even able to get through it in order to write a review. May be great, but don’t buy until word of a solid patch comes around.
