Bye Sweet Carole1

The only positive is beautiful art and animation. Unfortunately the gameplay is basic and lackluster. However, worst of all is the bigoted story of victim-hood tropes, a tiresome narrative that's been told a million times with nothing new to offer. Perhaps nearly 100 years ago, when Disney started doing animation like this, it could have been semi-relevant. Nowadays, perhaps driven by lack of purpose, the devs just want to resurrect a dead specter of a movement to feed their narcissism.

Really expected to like this, I have been searching for new titles akin to the classic Pokemon games...this is not it. For starters there a numerous technical issues, from excessive loading times to poor frame rates and graphical glitches. Why can the Nintendo DS from 20 years ago provide a smoother experience!?! Additionally, the art style is uninspired and lacks stylization. I also found some of the music choices baffling, the soundtrack for the first town was so bad I had to turn the volume off to avoid headache. Nevertheless, I still find some enjoyment in the concept and basic gameplay, however there are far better Pokemon clones available... skip this one.

Bloodborne: The Old Hunters10

This DLC is exactly what bloodborne needed to make the experience complete. The added environments, gear and enemies perfectly complement the base game and complete the difficulty curve, which the original lacked at the end. Fear the old blood!

Elden Ring7

Too much **** thing? Maybe. Elden Ring takes the souls formula and improves on it in some ways, but hinders it in others. The primary offender for me is making the into a vastly more open-world structure. The experience seems to lose some of the carefully curated design and structure of its predecessors. Nevertheless, the gameplay and creativity shines through, delivering one of the best experiences available for the current generation of consoles.

Remake done right. Almost everything is better than the original. The graphics are far more detailed and the atmosphere is improved by the new lighting. The weapons are better balances and you now acquire them through exploration, the sections of the ship feel more connected, and the controls are significantly improved (especially the zero-g sections). Everything combined breathes new life into this classic.

The Last of Us Part I0

Why do the characters get slightly uglier with every new version? At least the environments have a lot more detail.. they probably would look a lot better but unfortunately they washed out the lighting. I guess Naughty Dog doesn't have any real play but to sell you the same junk over and over, since they clearly aren't interested in hiring competent writers to make their developers efforts worthwhile.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered0
Apr 8, 2024
Remastering the last of us part II is like spray-painting a dung heap. It might look slightly better, but its still the same excrement underneath. However, the game isn't even remastered.. in fact its virtually the same game (with very minor upgrades) running at a higher resolution. It seems even the studio didn't care enough about the game to put any effort in.

The Last of Us Part II0

Candidate for the worst sequel of all time. Everything you loved about the first game is dead (literally) and the story dribbles onward nonsensically with the most unlikable characters imaginable. Yes, the graphics and gameplay are improved, but they were never great to begin with. All the mechanics are pretty generic at this point and hundreds of games do them better. The heart and soul of the original has been replace with a script and characters that were written by a 'bot' that doesn't understand what a human being is. The only good news is that Banjo-Kazooie: nuts and bolts now looks like a pretty good sequel in comparison.
