The engine is a definite improvement over earlier versions, but in the end, not much has changed. There's no significant goals, no meaningful challenge, multiple equipment mechanics don't work properly, and the translation tends to be half-assed in places. This is basically a nicer-looking skeleton desperately hoping for modders to fill in all the blanks.

Alternate title: Umad? This game is a monument to every annoying, frustrating, BS death you've ever experienced in a platformer. No two methods of dying are the same, and this game will utterly troll you anywhere with yet another creative way to die. You start out with two lives, you'll probably finish in the negative hundreds. That aside, the difficulty in the normal game ranges from "moderate" to "fairly tough", and some sections will force you to problem solve. The demo released for this game does a good job of demonstrating what you're in for. If this game has a drawback, it would be the length it's a pretty short game. Otherwise, the graphics are clean, the controls are fantastic, and it makes endless dying fun again. I had my own epiphany in the second level when, after crossing an entire screen's distance without dying, I doubled back to make sure I hadn't MISSED any opportunities for death.

More linear than sandbox, but does a decent job of disguising it. Crafting system is good, but it's interaction with the limited inventory space comes across as 1 part authentic, 3 parts annoying. Overall a good game for fans of the zombie or top-down shooter genre, a great game to pick up on sale.

If you're in the market for an old-school platformer, but would like the option to leave behind the worst of the old-school difficulty, this game needs to be shortlisted. Excellent music, beautiful graphics, and dead-precise controls. While there's a some pretty obscene hardcore modes for the no-lifers, they're strictly optional. The achievements and item-collecting are everywhere, but they don't tie you down from progressing through the game. There's a wide variety of difficulty available, although the game never truly becomes easy. All in all, beautiful packaging and polish, and a fantastic job of catering to platformer fans of all skill levels.

Fairly standard overhead block puzzler, but the graphics are very clean and easy on the eyes, while the puzzle mechanics are tight and polished. It offers just three tools, but gets maximum mileage and variety out of each of them, and even offers (Steam) achievements for beating the game without all three. People looking for combat will be largely disappointed, since the difficulty never really goes beyond easy, save for possibly the final boss. Despite the marketing trying to portray the game as possessing an interesting/humorous story, the "story" is largely forgettable, and the promotional screenshots cover 9/10 of everything there is. Depending on how good you are at puzzles, the game is a little on the short side, and doesn't have much replay value. But it's a highly enjoyable ride through the first time.

On the plus, an interesting variety of equipment models to play around with. And that's pretty much it. On the minus, the game simply feels like it was released way too early. A very sterile world, with bland graphics. No help available in-game (and very little from title screen). Too many things on the map represented only by icons and no legend to explain what they mean. Trying to establish any sort of advanced gameplay is nearly impossible, thanks to only the most elementary of economic information tracked (Seriously, is it really so hard to imagine a player might want to track information by field?). There are no meaningful objectives or missions, save for exceedingly repetitive and generic "events". Upgrading equipment (the sole raison d'etre) is an exercise in trial and error, since virtually no useful information or guidelines are offered to help you choose wisely - you're basically left hoping that bigger and more expensive will turn out to be better. Ultimately, just a shell ****. The possibility of user-generated content is there, but this game seems to be depending on it entirely.
