Another overrated product. Janky and packedto the brim with cheap deaths. Certainly not the worst game of the year, but a regrettable purchase for me. This is game development moving backwards.
Hands down, the worst game of the year. Uninspired and half-baked. The campaign is dull and the multiplayer is an absolute waste of time. Buy an Xbox for Forza, but certainly not for this disgrace. I want my money back.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Don't believe the hype. This is a highly overrated product and Housemarque's worst game. I don't care about the save situation or the difficulty. Not an issue for me. The problem is... the gameplay loop simply is not fun. The weapons, upgrades, and room design is all very dull. I will say, it controls well, is a good looking game and the enemies have some cool designs. This is a $20 game at best and not worth a penny more. Do yourself a favor and pickup Hades or Dead Cells instead. They respect your time and have a good loop. Or, check out Housemarque's older games, like Nex Machina or Resogun. Both of which are excellent. Super disappointed to have to add them to the black list along with CDPR and Hello Games.
Fun, but extremely unbalanced both on and offline (for the good and the bad). If you really want to play, stick to the board game. This version needs an overhaul. Maybe they'll patch it. Maybe for $10 on sale, but without some work, it's just not fun for more than a game or two. At least the touch control is nice.
One of the most disappointing games of the generation. Could have been great, but it's crushed by countless dumb mechanics and a generally unfun game loop. It doesn't respect your time and barely respects the source material. I can only hope that the game's director maybe let's some one else take the lead next time. (The QTEs are fun to do the first few times.)
Great visuals hampered by some really poor game design decisions. It's nice to look at, but simply not very fun to play. You can make your game super hard, but if the controls aren't there.... well. I'm not mad I dropped $5 on it. Made it easier to erase after a few hours. Maybe with an update something can be salvaged, until then it feels unfinished.
Now that I've spent some time with it, I can truly say that this is a bad game. Dull and disrespectful of your time. It's only hard in that the controls were designed by a fool. It's like driving with your feet, and once your get the hang of that, it's the same boring grind over and over. Worst launch game I've bought since Orphen on PS2.. At least I can get some money for the trade in.
Probably my most disliked Devolver game. Unfinished. Poorly implemented mechanics. There's a few gems, but they are buried under multiple repetitive games that often end up being frustrating for all the wrong reasons. The best thing about this game is the fact that it's a roadmap for a better developer too easily improve on.
Unfortunately, this is one of Hamster's really bad ports. It's got really unresponsive controls and you'll miss 20% of your turns. A much better Hamster maze runner is Route 16.
Absolutely the most overrated game in recent history. Clunky controls, bad collision detection, & sluggish gameplay, make for a really unenjoyable experience. It's just a slog that's more hassle than it's worth. Like playing a bad SOTN clone at 70% speed. There's just too many better games out there.
Absolute garbage game from a horrible developer and even worse distributor. Do not buy this game, even on super sale. It's a pure waste of time and money.
I'm really enjoying my time with it. It's nice to play a story-heavy game that doesn't feel like it was written by a 13 year old Japanese girl. Worth a pickup for Phoenix Wright & Picross fans. My only gripes are that I missed some of the dialog until I slowed it down. Also, the puzzles have no touchscreen option that I'm aware of and the thumbstick is not precise.
I found this game to be both confusing and utterly dull. I like weird games and this is weird, just not much **** when you get down to it. Wait for a deep sale.
This game is a bit overrated. It's too difficult for all the wrong reasons. UPDATE: Went back to this and yeah, it's just not fun. I wouldn't drop more than a dollar on this.
I've only put a few hours into it, but so far, this is a strong contender for Most Disappointing Game of 2020. It's very shallow and quite janky. It feels like the positive reviews are purely based off the style, which I'll admit, is pretty cool. Just play Hotline Miami or the excellent Apeout instead.
Very overrated. Wait for a deep, deep sale. I regretted spending more than $5 bucks on this garbage. It's not fun, the weapons are lame, the visuals are muddy and messy. All these positive reviews are based off pure hype. There are MUCH BETTER 2D platformers out there.
Poorly made with janky controls. Maybe it's better on PC, but I found it to be both dull and difficult in a way that made it feel like there was zero play-testing. Maybe worth it as a .99 cent curiosity, but not a penny more. There are much better games out there.
Probably one of the worst games I've played in 2019. It's not fun bad, just bad bad. Bad controls and questionable collision detection really ruin what could have been a fun indie title. It really feels like no one play-tested the game. Not even worth picking up as a joke. Lame.
This is certainly one of the worst games on the Switch. It's not even worth downloading for free. It's super broken and you'll spend more time downloading and erasing it, than actually playing it. Hopefully, the dev sees the writing on the wall and goes into a different professional, because they lack ANY talent in making a playable game. It's not even worth downloading as a goof. I want my penny back.
Pretty disappointing. It's not bad, it's just not great. It's a good looking game, but the weapons are dull and make things more difficult that they should be. Reviews made the fun factor seem higher than it actually is, though I played SP and perhaps it's only meant to be played co-op. I would be unimpressed if a friend forced me to place this with him.
Insanely disappointing game. Just stick with Gunman Clive. Feels very unpolished and has very clunky controls. Wait for a deep deep sale or just skip all together, it's just mediocre as mediocre gets.
This game is all hype. Lotsa style, annoying substance. It's clunky and it's one of the worst platformers I've played in years. You'll think it's a good game if you are unfamiliar with good games. Maybe worth wasting no more than $5 on. It's like anti-Mario.
It's not good. It's not bad, but it's really just not good. Boring, drab, buggy and just uninspired. OK at $30, not worth a penny more. Going back to BF1.
So, I've been singing the praises of Cycle 28 for weeks. It's my daily go to for a quick fix of classic arcade action. While Cycle 28 plays like a successor to Asteroids, there's more of a defined space to explore, like Sinistar. Cycle 28 is best described as a minimalist, arcade shooter, rouge-like. Yep, the thing that brings you back is a few simple, but effective power-ups, that give you that extra little boost against the enemy fleet. From bullet types to drones, you can equip two at a time and I'm not sure how many there are. Which, brings up faults? This is a classic arcade game. There's a deep meta-story, with an already claimed, real-life prize. If you are looking for a deep, linear story, you might be disappointed. But, that shouldn't be the reason you are playing. You are here for the action. Your ship is a simple, but unique shape and you find that it helps you stick out from the 3 or 4 colors majorly present when playing. You mission is to stay alive? Recuse someone? ...I'm not sure, but basically, every time I play, it goes from 0 to 10 pretty quickly. You've got three buttons. Steering with the left analog. Boost with RT. Fire with A. Firing w/o boosting will push you back, so there's always a delicate balance between attacking and strafing enemy fire. Speaking of fire, you get about 3 hits before you are shieldless. Escaping for a engine and weapon cool down usually brings them back, but by that time, larger ships have called in wing of attack craft and you go from attack to defense like that. While all this is happening, all the ships are sending out ant-sized drone fighters, just to make things interesting. Quick note. The ambient audio and score never encroach on the action and without displays, you'll need to rely on audio cues to stay alive. If you are looking for a Japanese-style SHUMP, you might be a bit put off. But if you understand why we still talk about the classic arcade games that started all this, you are in for a treat with Cycle 28.
I'm only a few hours in, but I absolutely love this game. Probably some of the best touchscreen controls I've come across on Switch. It's great in short bursts and easy to learn. If you like tranquil but hectic experiences (a bit like Kingdom), then Bad North is worth the money.
If you were waiting to get a Johnny Turbo Switch port, this just might be the one. That is, if you like weird stuff. So the easiest way to explain the game is poorly controlling Smash TV meets IDK, Odama... It's a run'n'gun shooter pinball game with a game show setting around a half-dozen-ish levels. It has movement and shooting on the same left analog, which kinda ****, especially in today's crowded arcade-shooter market. It's also a bit short, which is common for these old arcade-style games. On the good side. It's fun to play regardless of the controls. It's also 1-3 players and there's a vertical mode, along with the other a/v options you'd expect. On top of that, Nitro Ball is weird. Much weirder than Smash TV. Basically, add crazy Japanese mechanics & graphics to Smash and you have Nitro Ball. If you are into weird arcade games like Waku Waku 7, Gunbird, or Samurai Aces, then you'll probably enjoy Nitro Ball.
Much like the disappointing Owlboy, HK simply doesn't live up to the hype. I find it quite dull and have fallen asleep twice while playing it. Don't spend more than $7 on the game... too bad.
Bare-bones port missing several things, which ****, but not nearly as much not being able to remap the controls. Imagine playing Call of Duty but firing your weapon is mapped to X and you can't change it. Clustertruck wants you to use FPS controls but put jump on the A button. Edit: Raised to 5 for the Y-Axis fix. Too bad remapped controls never happened...
It's pretty fun, but if you are not going to sink +100 hours into it, it's probably not worth your time. It's SUPER difficult and unless you are SUPER committed to being a Steredenn pro, you will play for an evening an never pick it up again. I'm pretty bummed it's not sticking.
Any score above a 7 is pure hype. I loved the first game and was eagerly waiting for the sequel. While it starts off great, the game quickly becomes repetitive, frustrating, & frankly, kinda boring. This was my biggest disappointment of 2017. You should 100% wait for this game to be $20 or less.
This game is 90% hype and 10% game. Playing on a Switch cross-platform is pointless as the Switch's Joycons are no DS4. The game is an ugly port, but I can look past that. It plays ok, however, matchmaking **** and I find that I'm always in a match where the teams are made up of half 6-year olds & half ProGamerz. I will say that I am playing this single-player. If you have people to play with locally or on online, it might be worth it. If not, I'd say wait until a sale.
Like playing Solitaire with 50 cards. Cute design and simplistic gameplay get lost behind flawed design. Imagine having to play Solitaire not only with 50 cards, but also having to discard suit-specifically. I just don't see the fun in it and once you do figure out the extremely complicated and narrow design of discarding that allows you to will, you won't care, cause you already lost the other 99% of the time. This is a $1 at best.
The absence of fun. After several years and a loss of $5.00, anyone thinking about buying this game should realize that all games based off of multiplayer functions are dead after 6 months. Sure, there need on progression. The recent discount is not to serve you, but to bait the morons that spend money on the Battlefield franchise to preorder their new gaming abortion. I've loved the previous BF installments, but this **** should have been killed at birth. If you really want to play a BF game, practice on 1943 and start early on BF One, don't waste a minute on BF4.
