Venetica9

Probably my favourite game that I've played in a long time. From a slightly removed point of view It's a very flawed RPG in the same vein as Risen or the Gothic series is, but I really did love this game. The aesthetic in both the design of the city of Venice and the design of characters has a ton of uniqueness and personality to it, and something about the game kept me playing constantly until I finally finished the it. The combat is definitely not great, and the story, while not terrible, and often interesting, is relatively weak compared to other RPGs. Regardless, the quests felt varied and the gameplay felt unique in key moments. Despite my high score for it, I wouldn't recommend it except for hardcore RPG fans who want an incredibly unique experience and are okay dealing with the many flaws this game has.

Final Fantasy XIII3

Never doing that to myself again. That was 50 hours of a lot of repetitive and boring gameplay with a story that actually has pretty good character development, but I was so insanely burnt out by the end that I left with an incredibly sour taste for this game despite the fact that the story bits were quite enjoyable for me. Not worth 50 hours full of "when does this get better?"

Really unique game with a really cool atmosphere and quite suspenseful and challenging gameplay, you really feel the intensity of it since the levels are designed incredibly well and you never know when the next enemy is coming and will never be quite comfortable dealing with them. I enjoyed my time with this game overall, however an unconvincing final level coupled with glitches throughout the course of the game and clunkiness in the gameplay make this truly a diamond in the rough.

Very generic shooter, not that I didn't have fun with it, but it just doesn't innovate both in terms of story and in terms of gameplay. The campaign is incredibly short and fails to make a real impact on you, since it throws all of these "shocking" moments almost all at once, making the player more apathetic, achieving the opposite of what it set out to do. While the multiplayer is actually very fun and still has some people playing it, there's definitely many better alternatives now a days which make this game not really worth your time.

It's a pretty decent racer that thankfully doesn't last too long and thus does not overstay its welcome. The visuals are great, tracks are also great, even the car variety isn't too shabby. Unfortunately the handling of the cars will not stop feeling strange throughout the entire game and that really holds the gameplay back to the point where I'd recommend many of the competitors above this title.

Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode Four7
Feb 18, 2020
Excellent game that overstays its welcome for way too long. The first three episodes were all fantastic and so are the previous games developed by Zeboyd. The fun spirit is still there, however the game drags on for so long with a combat system that is so quickly figured out that the novelty fades away and leaves a sense of repetition and longing for when the next fun bit of dialogue or the next much needed switch in the environment or scenarios will happen. If you enjoyed the three previous games, especially the third episode, you will still enjoy this one, and the story still ends in a fun and oddly satisfying way, however be ready to go for longer than planned in order to reach that much awaited ending.

Stories: The Path of Destinies6
Feb 18, 2020
This title is so full of cool ideas however it comes up short where it needs it the most. The main concept behind the game's story and the way it is delivered is interesting and original, in fact for the first couple of hours you will definitely have that sense of awe as you discover the branching paths and how different they can actually be. That being said, it gets overshadowed by the often lackluster story, where certain elements make little to no sense, jumping from one place to another or jumping to conclusions that the player could have never reached. The core gameplay is pretty fun though it gets repetitive towards the end especially if the player takes their time or decides to explore all of the branching paths, which will hold many back, including myself, from enjoying all the different options this game has to offer. The controls of the PC port are lackluster and the lack of rebinding options really make life difficult for those who do not use a controller, which may lead to feeling like the gameplay is tiring even quicker. The visuals and sound design are fantastic however, despite the fact that the environmental repetition can tire them out towards the end. I want to see more from the developers, since they are full of excellent ideas and potential everywhere, however Stories: The Path of Destinies lacks the variety and polish that it deserves.

Star Wars: Empire at War7
Apr 14, 2014
A strategy game in real-time seems like the perfect genre for Star Wars, and Empire at War sort of nailed it in a certain sense, by that I mean this game does feel like Star Wars, and I feel like I am actually commanding either the rebels or the empire, and that feeling is one of the best you can have while playing a video game. Despite that Empire at War has it's flaws. There are two factions in this game, Rebels are Empire, and two modes of battle, those being in land and in space. Space battles are where the game shines, since they look great, and never seem to get boring, I have started up a game countless of times to play a single space skirmish battle, and it will always be a blast, going from star fighters to giant capital cruisers battling it out is legitimately great. Despite that there is a unit limit, and that takes out some of the scale of the battles. Things in land aren't so great however, they look quite ugly actually, and can be relatively boring at times, when I wanted to conquer a planet I actually found myself playing and enjoying the space battles and then simply auto-completing (a feature that I should note for single-player) the land battles in order to avoid them, I did find myself enjoying certain land battles in the campaign modes however, but that is mainly because that mode made sure the battles were more unique. Talking about modes, apart from the two campaigns, there are skirmish battles and a mode called galactic conquest, where as the name suggests you'll have to conquer the galaxy, and this is an interesting part of the game, for a good portion of this mode you won't be in battle, you'll be viewing the galaxy and the planets you control as well as your enemies' planets, training both ground and space units and making buildings, as well as transporting troops and strengthening your economy, and this galactic conquest mode can extend and get really tense thanks to all of that, however it can get tedious after a while. Multiplayer is LAN only, which is a shame, since some online battles would definitely have been very interesting. A feature that this game has that is very noteworthy is the movie camera mode, it lets you see battles as if it was a movie, it can be a little distracting amidst the action, however when you can put the camera and relax it is great, but as I said it shines way more in space than land. Also, strategy-game wise it isn't that deep, there are few hotkeys and options that you would use in other strategy games like Starcraft 2. Overall I think it's a good game, but some issues lead it to not be great, I'd say download the demo (which is a good demo by the way) and judge by yourself, as for me, I think my purchase was good, but the potential that Star Wars has still wasn't used to it's fullest.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings9
Apr 14, 2014
This game is CDK Projekt Red's masterpiece, it truly deserves all the praise it has gotten, and I haven't found myself more immersed in the story of any other RPG. What The Witcher 2 completely nails is giving you the feeling that your character is extremely important, as here you will literally be deciding the fates of entire kingdoms, and it is interesting how a sense of scale exists without the game being truly open-world, and how your decisions as small as they seem can result in great or very grim consequences to you or somebody else. I love the story and the aspects that reinforce it, and the characters are great, Geralt himself is a complete badass and still has the charisma that a video game hero needs in a big story, and some interactions can be extremely amusing indeed. Moving on from the story, the graphics are incredible, it is one of the best looking games I have played to date, you don't even need them maxed out for the game to look amazing, and the lighting also does a great job. The sound is also great, the soundtrack is one of the best I have heard in a while, and I have no complaints about the sound effects themselves. The gameplay is interesting, given that it does have an extra layer of depth despite what is rather few combinations and possibilities when it comes to combat itself, I do wish for more variety, however I was content with what was presented. When you're not in combat you're in dialogue or possibly exploring a place. Quests and side quests are well balanced and interesting, they never feel like a drag and can lead to some interesting outcomes that only reinforce the story and setting. I do wish for better collision detection however, since I have encountered problems with that. And I also had a few problems with the difficulty curve at the beginning of the game, but that evened out later. Overall this is a must buy, this game is an experience you won't get anywhere else, I can guarantee that.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron8
Jul 5, 2013
This game came literally out of nowhere and took everyone by surprise, and it was a good surprise. The truth is, El Shaddai is a game that is not afraid to be different, and that gives it strength. It is at its core a 2D and 3D platforming game with a very particular artistic style that immediately stands out. The world is pieced in a very particular way that makes it seem living, and that is excellent. Combat also works differently since you can change you attacks by pressing X slower or quicker or even holding it, all of this with 3 different weapons and power-ups to mix up things. However the game can get quite repetitive since there are some sections where all you do is run until you find some enemies to fight only to defeat them and run towards the next bunch. However there are then some sections that completely change that formula, especially in the later third of the game, which just becomes a massive climax in both gameplay and story. The story is... well... difficult to both describe and understand, it is based on judeo-christian mythology with its own artistic interpretation, and even though it is quite unclear the cutscenes are epic and what happens around you is truly magnificent. The fact that this game is in the bargain bin makes it a steal, buy it now.

DLC Quest5
Mar 26, 2013
Just the mere title of this game called by attention, it is an indie 2D 16-bit platformer that mocks the industry's DLC orientation by exaggerating it even more. Let's see it this way, you have to buy DLC to move left and jump, to pause, to have music, and animations. It is seriously exaggerated, and that is what brings charm to this game. The mechanics are extremely simple and are not anything that will make you be astonished, however it is still fun to play it. The soundtrack does not stand out at all which is disappointing for a 16-bit game, but that can be ignored. What gives this game points is the awesome humour that mocks videogame elements, which I will not spoil for you if you decide to buy it. The problem with this game is that it is extremely short, 30 minutes is probably what you will get out of it and maybe 45 if you are a completionist, the thing is that it has absolutely no replay value, so it is just there after you complete it, so unless you have some money to throw away I cannot recommend it just yet.

Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode Two8
Mar 26, 2013
The penny arcade game returned with a second episode after the first one stuck to my mind. This episode follows a similar storyline with as many old school references and a sense for hilarity. The combat has the same mechanics, but the weapons and special attacks have changed completely, which gives it some variety, although I would have liked to have the old skills available. The areas are also different, and the characters you meet I would say are more like-able. The collectibles are easier to find this time, since in the first episode I was barely able to find half of them. It would not give much credit to this game the overall similar feel, however it improves on what it has to and keeps the good qualities the same, the final boss battle is also absolutely insane and belittled the first episode's boss fight. This game does a great job of bringing us back to New Arcadia and even though it feels a lot like the first episode, it is still enjoyable from beginning to end.

Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode One9
Mar 25, 2013
It is made by Penny Arcade! The main characters are Gabe and Tycho! Why would this game not be good? This game is a turn-based RPG really, with an old school vibe yet modern gameplay and hilarious story and dialogue. Since the pure beginning the story was extremely sympathetic and brought a smile to my face. The two main characters, Gabe and Tycho are hilarious and have a lot of personality both in their dialogue and their combat, giving this game a personality itself. The turn-based combat is great, and although it may get tedious after a while there are always new stuff added to it so you can be entertained while fighting, and you can see your enemies! No annoying random battles! This game is completely enjoyable, especially for the low price it has, the downsides being a few tedious parts and annoying tasks with a few weird spikes in the difficulty curve. However that can be ignored, but this game if you want to have fun and have a good time.

Solar 26
Mar 25, 2013
This game is a whole new concept that has never been seen before, at least not since I have memory. Solar 2 is a whole new kind of game concept as you start out as a simple rock and end up swallowing the entire universe due to how much you grew. It is fun, and the fun lasts for a decent while, the problem is, the game is quite disorganized and all over the place. What to do is not clear at all, you just start taking quests and progress becoming larger and larger and the game eventually becomes brutally difficult when you evolve to a star. There are quests to do depending on what type of mass you are, and those quests do not necessarily make sense, they are just there to give you something to do. The concept is great, however a lacking presentation and a fun that wears out as you progress does not please in the end. Also, what to do is never clear, you are just thrown in a never-ending universe (which at least is a good thing) to just "play" around. It does have a good soundtrack though, really nice feel to it but lacking visuals to come along with it. This game could definitely be more, and I want it to be more. However it still needs to deliver fun, because that is what ultimately matters in a game.

Star Conflict7
Mar 11, 2013
This free game on Steam took me completely by surprise as it came quite suddenly. When I saw the "price" I immediately downloaded it, and I have to say I did not regret it. This game is a space shooter with awesome gameplay. You can buy different types of ships and choose your alliance, which will change the gameplay a lot. There are five modes if I remember correctly, most treat with control points, and there is a refined team deathmatch mode which I enjoyed a lot. There are a few glitches present, I had a few major glitches that ended up being fixed by patches. This game is currently in late-beta so tolerance is recommended when it comes to some imperfections. Overall graphics are customizable and although they are not outstanding they do look good. The sound is okay, although the soundtrack isn't long and the sound effects aren't outstanding. My only true complain are the maps, they are good but they are few, I really hope more are added with patches. This game so far is extremely enjoyable, download it since there is nothing to loose and judge it yourself.

The Banner Saga: Factions8
Mar 3, 2013
When this game came out on Steam it took me completely by surprise, after viewing some screenshots and realizing it was a turn-based strategy game I did not hesitate to download it and I can say I did not regret it. The first thing you see is a beautiful drawn cutscene showcasing the awesome art-style, then you reach a city and go through a good tutorial that will help you get started. You are required to play multiplayer, which I was expecting from a free game on Steam. The matchmaking system is excellent, you are matchmade with people that have equal or extremely similar stats so the battles aren't unfair. You would think that the flow of the battles on multiplayer is slow, however, it seemed to be about right with every move having a time limit. You can also make a formation for your troops before the game starts, which can actually be the difference between victory and defeat. Combat is a little more complicated though, there is an armour stat and a life stat that you can attack, attacking the life stat would seem smarter, however, the more you attack the life stat the less damage you are able to deal in future turns. The combat can be a little misleading but that is a minor complain. After the battles you can join tournaments if you have enough experience, recruit new troops, level them up, and much more. My second and last complain is about the difficulty curve, it seems a little high when you start playing since leveling up costs renown (the currency) and renown is earned very slowly. After playing this game for a good while all I can say is that I absolutely recommend it, it doesn't take much space and it will deliver countless hours on satisfaction.

In my life I have never experienced a game as unplayable as this game, it is literally impossible to enjoy this game since it does it's best effort to ****. The first thing is just the controls and movement itself. The controls are completely broken and useless, just the act of moving is extremely difficult. Let me explain, you can move with WASD however, the camera will be fixed towards the angle where the character is looking unless he/she is standing still. To change the looking angle you have to right-click. The next issue is the fact that what to do and how is completely unclear. No real tutorial or even menus explaining, it's like someone threw you into this game you have no idea on how to play and said "go". I also have to complain about the graphics, they look horrible, The Lord of The Rings online, a 2007 game looks much better than this game, in fact, you should download that game instead of this worthless crap. Do not download it, it is a waste of disk space, therefore it gets a two out of ten.

Halo 49
Nov 24, 2012
Personally I thought Halo would die with Bungie, after a not-so-good remake of the first game by the hand of 343 I doubted the potential that this game would have, but I am happy to say, I was completely wrong. The first thing that stands out when you play Halo 4 are the visuals, this is by far the best looking game for the 360, it can even compete with PC graphics to a certain point since the level of detail is amazing. The first thing I covered was the campaign, it was entertaining with a story now focused on Cortana and the forrunner awakening instead of Chief and the Halo rings. Prometheans stand out as the new enemies with some new challenges and badass weapons. Overall the campaign was great but it was a little short with only eight missions. However the next part makes up for it. Multiplayer is the star of this franchise since Halo 2, and it does not disappoint. There are various multiplayer modes, both old and new, which have excellent, faster, and more aggressive combat. Load-outs can now be created and selected and there are now powerful weapon drops, or ordinances, that are rewarded with kill streaks. One new vehicle has been added called the Mantis, which is a mech that is balanced enough to be badass yet destroyable. There are some great maps present such as the remake of Halo 3's Valhalla called Ragnarok, which is amazing. Also, there are now more than a single map for forge, and since most of the big team maps are massive there are good spots to be creative. The other multiplayer mode apart from the competitive modes is Spartan Ops. This mode is basically co-op missions with a unique story and with new episodes being released with time, the only problem I have with spartan ops is that with a few players I've had a great delay, making the game unplayable. Again, forge is better than ever, with some awesome maps, great new tools, and new options promoting creativity. This game has so much that I assure it will be completely worth whatever price it is where you live, 343 has done an amazing job and created one of my game of the year candidates.

Jet Set Radio8
Nov 23, 2012
Despite imperfection Jet Set Radio HD manages to stand out in the next-gen because of something essential that every game should have called fun. This game entertains a lot while playing since there is much to do and see, nice tricks can be pulled off which get really crazy and rewarding at the end, designing graffiti is extremely entertaining, and the levels overall are excellent resulting in a fun experience. What was good before is still good now but no game is perfect, like this one, which still has a 4:3 resolution and doesn't seem to have boosted graphics that much, however, the excellent art style hides it all. The controls can be frustrating although with time it will become less of an issue. The sound is quite great such as the voice acting for the iconic Professor K which is a funny and entertaining character. If you enjoyed Jet Set Radio in the past do not doubt in picking this up, even newcomers might enjoy this since despite its shortcomings this game is fun, and that is what matters.

Happy Wars6
Oct 22, 2012
It is surprising to see a free XBLA game but after the rise of the F2P games Microsoft was too tempted I guess. Happy wars is an arcade third person tower defense kind of game with a clear focus on 15 vs 15 multiplayer action. Even though this game is based on multiplayer it still has bot matches and a short single-player where missions are unlocked by ranking up in multiplayer. This game gives a good story with single player that has its cute humor and gameplay just like multiplayer. The whole game is based on a single mode which is destroying the enemies tower which is inside a castle. It may not seem like much but actual strategy is required because 15 vs 15 games can become a disaster with no organization. You have 3 classes to play as, warrior, mage, and cleric which is a support class. These classes are balanced since every class can counter everything with strategy. Items are to be found, equipped, and leveled up making your character more epic, which leads to unbalanced multiplayer sometimes since experienced players may have too much armor and may seem immortal to new players. This is also the 5th arcade game to have 400 achievement points which is awesome for achievement hunters. My main issues with this game are simple, the first is that matchmaking is horrible, it takes extremely long and you often loose connection, sometimes before or after the game has started. My next issue is the fact that you need a gold membership to access the game, I would like to access bot matches and single-player without gold which is unfortunate for people who don't have gold. The last issue is that matches can be a mess and its easy to get lost in the disaster of 15 vs 15 people devastating everything. For now, this game still needs to be perfected and even though it offers fun gameplay there are still downsides which could be fixed with a few patches, I still need to see what the future holds. I'd say you should give it a try, but don't be completely positive about the experience.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit9
Oct 4, 2012
I am proud to say Criterion did an excellent job with this game and it completely lives up to how great Need for Speed was in the past. This game is a reboot of an older NFS game and succeeds in capturing the sense of entertainment that was seen before. The first thing that stands out is how outstanding the graphics are, and even though I do not really care about graphics I have to praise them. Next is the soundtrack, the main theme being Edge of the Earth by 30 Seconds to Mars which I loved listening to. The rest of the songs have a rap and pop feel to it, and some really stand out while you are driving and having epic moments. Next is the gameplay, it is extremely fun with a less realistic and more arcade feel, adding a lot of fun to this game. The ability to be a cop or racer is what is crucial in an NFS game since the missions play differently and you get to see different stuff with each. The amount of events in single-player may not seem like much to some, but it will when they get deeper in the game since the later events will get really difficult and will include some really crazy driving. The car selection in this game is incredible, with 5 divisions of the car classes from sports to hyper there is a really good amount of them, and you will feel difference with every car you drive. Online in this game is a blast, with racers and cops chasing them online it feels great, and I rarely felt I was at a disadvantage regarding player experience, it will keep you entertained for a good while. The only flaws this game has is a few weak songs in the soundtrack (maybe its the great songs that belittle them) and a really high difficulty in the time challenges making it very difficult to progress. The NFS franchise had a great comeback and it is interesting to see what it has to offer in the future, this game is a total recommend and it will be for a while.

Aug 28, 2012
Notice, this is a review made of one of the past versions since this game hasn't had a version 1.0 release yet and when that version is released the score may change. As of today this game is entertaining, simple, and scary. I won't say absolutely anything about the graphics since it uses the unity engine which is a very complete, yet limited in power engine. The sound is great and creepy, it helps get immersed in the general atmosphere and gets creepier as you progress through the game, I have no complains. If there is supposed to be a story ill say its not clear yet and its not developed at all, maybe the future holds something better regarding story but for now its unclear and the whole purpose of the game is still in shadows. The setting is cheesy, yet spooky and pretty good and helps the sense of scare. The gameplay is what we seem to care about now, it seems to be simple yet extremely difficult and suspenseful, making it great to play alone and optimal to play with a friend. I feel that there are scarier games out there, however, Im glad this game stayed true to the horror formula unlike many "survival horror" games that have become more action-based and much less scary and ill give it credit for that. I feel this is a very good game however there are aspects here and there that could, should, and will be improved in the future, and thats what Im expecting.

Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth9
Jul 30, 2012
I have to say Castlevania is one of my favorite franchises and looking at a new game on the wii is refreshing. This is basically a remake of the game Castlevania: The Adventure which I never had the chance to play but it is good to know there was and remake and that there are plans of making "ReBirth" versions of many classic games. This plays as any other castlevania game with a Belmont as the main character which was a refreshing feel as a lover of this franchise. The level design is also great yet less "open world" than other games in the franchise. The difficulty is also like before, this game is challenging which I love because more recent castlevania games have become too easy in my opinion. The enemy design is also great and the classic graphics do the job. However, I did miss the song "Bloody Tears" I wonder why it as not put there. In the end this is one of the best wiiware titles and completely worth purchasing

Onslaught (2009)5
Jul 30, 2012
I dont agree with the people who think this game is great, even for a wiiware/virtual-console game. However, I don't agree either with people who think this game is absolute garbage. It is unusual to have a game like this on wiiware especially for 1000 points which makes it something unique with a fair price. Let's talk about the good first, the weapons in general are good, not great but still something enjoyable specially a "lightwhip" that you have to attack enemies on close range. The controls are also pretty good, i feel that is the way you make a first person shooter work. I also enjoyed the boss battles even though the attack patterns were extremely repetitive and I loved the fact that different types of weapons work better with different types of "alien bugs." Now comes the bad, most of this has to do with repetition which makes the game tedious after a while. There were very few enemy types and they were used again in every single level which took the excitement out of it. Another issue was the environments, they were really similar, basically all the planet you are in looks the same, there is nothing stunning to it. Finally my biggest issue, there is a time limit to every level when its not even necessary, why cant we just go at our own pace instead of rushing through the level to get a better score and not loosing the mission? This was just bad. The multiplayer is basically co-op campaign, not competitive multiplayer but it changes the action a little bit making it enjoyable. Overall I think it is not worth buying despite the good price, if people want a first person shooter they shouldn't support the more average ones because there are better games out there and those deserve attention.

Assassin's Creed II10
Jul 7, 2012
This game is epic, there was so much love and dedication put in this game it simply gives you a feeling of satisfaction once you complete it that you don't feel quite often when completing a game. Every single aspect of the story is very well made and the near-end plot twist is awesome, from beginning to end it is interesting and keeps you immersed. The graphics are good but there is space for improvement, Assassin's Creed had amazing graphics and I feel this is just the same graphics with little or no improvement. The overall sound is amazing with a great soundtrack which is also great to play with an instrument and some excellent sound effects as well as top voice acting. The platforming is way faster and better in many ways such as the gameplay that has you always interested. You can get about 12 hours out of this game and even though the replay value is not much I had the desire to play it again, which I did. Now to the part everyone hated, the Ubisoft DRM is something that has people really mad, but I had surprisingly no problems with this. Overall you should get this game though you should be really careful about the DRM for mac users the best option is buying it in the mac app store and but I think overall the best thing you could do is get it for console, yet its worth a try on PC/Mac.

CellFactor: Psychokinetic Wars6
Jun 20, 2012
This game is kind of an unreal tournament game for the 360 which is something the console was missing, the gameplay is similar but it has a slower pace and there are powers and abilities to use. There are three classes ranging from a full ability user to a tank-like character who doesn't use abilities. There are 10 challenge modes per class (30 total) which could give you some good 3 hours of gameplay. However, the challenges are not much more than a series of bot matches. The maps don't vary that much specially in the challenges which is a downside. The weapons also are really few which was disappointing but at least the gameplay itself was fun enough. The multiplayer is supposed to be the saving grace though there is hardly anyone online so it would rather be a series of bot-matches. Overall, this game has potential, but its missing variety and most importantly a community however it is saved from a bad score since the gameplay itself turns out to be really fun, its only five dollars now so it can be good deal but I recommend downloading the demo before buying.

Mass Effect: Bring Down the Sky7
Jun 19, 2012
By no means is this a perfect DLC, it adds an hour or two of gameplay and introduces a new race called the batarians. Three missions and a new location may be something however its over pretty quick. There is not much dialogue only a few but important sequences, because of that we can clearly see the main focus is action yet there is more action in the pinnacle station DLC than in this one. The location is basically another uncharted world to explore with the mako and those people who are bored with the side quests will not be pleased with this. However, the saving grace is the price 80 microsoft points is a really fair price and if you have a few microsoft points that spare you can easily buy this and enjoy it while it lasts and thats what brings the score up so I can recommend this DLC but only to people who liked the game and want a few more gameplay hours.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare8
Jun 19, 2012
This has been a completely different experience than the original Alan Wake, the first game was just epic in my opinion and i see this one as a great sequel though it could be better. The story is something that needs to be talked about, this game apparently takes place in an episode of Night Springs two years after the first game and resumes Alan's battle with Mr. Scratch. I expected the story to be less developed since the main focus is clearly action but it seems to have succeeded even though it could have explained more. The setting changed a lot, it is apparently a desert in Arizona which changes a lot from the forest in the first game. I didn't find myself to be as immersed as I was in the first game but it still does a good job. The story mode is about 4-5 hours and you play in three main areas, however, those three areas are revisited three times which is repetitive and can get annoying. A whole lot of weapons have been added giving more firepower and better alternatives of defeating enemies. The enemies themselves vary a lot more than in the first game and are quite tougher this time making the need of better weapons critical. An arcade "survival" mode has been added which consists of fighting hordes of enemies for ten minutes and then you unlock another map, there are ten maps total and there is a high replay value. Overall this is a great game that, despite some story flaws, manages to stand as a proper sequel to the original, Remedy has done well and I would love to see what they have for us in the future.

I really wanted this game to shine since I played the quake mod and the free release on mac and I had a good time playing it. This new version looked pretty good however it has an extremely big problem, the fan base the mod gained on PC and Mac will be unlikely to buy it on console, really few people who had the previous version will buy this one. Then comes the presentation, the menus are quite ugly and you could see not much thought was put on them. Graphic-wise this game looks pretty good since it was made with an engine we know we can trust however there are a few textures that pop and some details that could have been improved but its ok for me. Now the gameplay. Its fun to have a quick-paced arena shooter but it still has its shortcomings, there are no single player modes apart from bot practice which disappointed me a lot when my gold membership expired. After the struggle of finding a match it becomes fun and refreshing. Another problem I had was the characters, in both teams the characters looked pretty much the same, there was almost nothing that varied in character design. Overall this game manages to have fun gameplay but too many downsides for me to be able to recommend it, download the demo since its always ok to try but remember there are downsides and in a month or two really few people will be playing this.

I feel as this game was as complete as it could be, amazing graphics, good sound, nice particle effects and amazing ideas behind all of this. The setting is well made and the story is good at the beginning and great when you get to a big plot twist and the ending. Some people say this game is scary however the suspense and horror wears off as you progress through the game maybe because you start getting used to the setting and you know what to expect. The shooting is good also but it could be better and I found ammo to be scarce which made the situation more complicated. Overall I do recommend it since there is nothing to dislike apart from some tiny flaws here and there.

May 19, 2012
I assure you that the level of awesomeness of this game is high, its just something free, different, and fun which is what ultimately matters, who knew that such a simple game would be so entertaining? This is probably one of the free games that has a lot of time and gameplay to see before it gets old, and we don't get that ofter, especially in free steam games. The classic feel is great just like the enjoyable graphics and good character design, I found though, that what brings this game down is variation, things don't vary that much, classes specially. If the developers had of just mixed up a few things this would be extremely good, I want to see how this game evolves over time and if this gets fixed with updates which would be good. Overall you should download this game and at least give it a good try and enjoy it.

Heroes of Newerth6
May 19, 2012
When I tried this game 3 months ago I was extremely unfamiliar with this genre, I just couldn't find myself to like it, it was unforgiving and all the games lasted a very long time. It took me a lot of time to adapt, after I did it became a little bit better but not much. It is good S2Games took the world of Savage 1 and 2 and expanded it much more than before but this is not a game for everyone and it wasn't for me, I'd rather be playing Savage 2 that apparently has way more people than this. Graphics are good, sound is decent, story doesn't exist, and the gameplay is tedious. It may get repetitive in a short time the only thing that varies is the heroes, once you figure out the different types it becomes the same thing over and over. I didn't enjoy this, the best part of this game though it that its free, so try it and take the verdict yourself.

Red Steel 29
Apr 24, 2012
The original Red Steel was a wii launch title that did not live up to the expected, the developers of this game took that concept out and started from scratch, they managed then to create something special, something that is worth playing in the wii because there is no other game in any platform like this. The develpoers first of all managed to create a unique environment, combining cultural things of the far west and the far east with futuristic technology which give you something great. Something to mention when talking about how this game looks is the graphics, the wii is not great for graphics but this game looks great. The cell-shaded graphics are great and give you more immersion in your surroundings, I believe this graphics are just wonderful and get quite close to the graphic level of games like borderlands. Gameplay has also changed, this time sword fighting and gunslinging combine to make something unique and enjoyable. Collectibles and upgrades you can buy give you even more reason to keep playing. The two issues I had with this game were the fact that you only get 4 guns in all of the game and the dialouge that varied from really good to bad. The final verdict for this game would be a recommendation to buy, this is something unique that any wii player cant miss.

Two Worlds II7
Mar 9, 2012
I just have to say this is a good game, no more, no less, and even though this has tons of gameplay hours it may get a bit tedious. It's nice to see that the developers went for a nice pace when it comes to the character and gameplay, the learning curve may vary depending on where you go and when but i found it to be fair, same thing with the quests though there were a few times where is was overloaded with them and i just didnt want to do any quests. The enemy variety is also extremely good and the npc's looks vary but there rises another problem, the voice acting and facial animations are extremely dull which breaks your immersion. When it comes to story I was confused, I never played the original Two Worlds so I had to do research to know what was going on which i didn't like. Now the graphics are decent but not that great, and the animations may vary from quite good to a little bit dull and dated. The magic system, that saves this game, learning abilities and creating crazy spells and combining abilities is so fun magic may become a great weapon, or just something to distract you. Overall this game has a downside for nearly every good thing but its still playable and some may enjoy it, just keep in your mind that this is not a game for everyone, but you are welcome to try it if this is your type of game.

Torchlight6
Feb 28, 2012
Torchlight is a rare game we get, its a Diablo clone, that is clear, but its a great example on how a dungeon crawler is made. I really think this game has potential in it, or had, unfortunately it was not used to its maximum power. The environments are repetitive, really repetitive, every 5 dungeons or so you get a change but that doesn't kill the repetition, and all the lost dungeons and extra ones are the same thing, that is the major disappointment of this game. After I see the enemies getting extremely repetitive too which get a little tedious and then of course there is repetitive loot which is found in massive amounts. All these issues make this game a little bit tedious but there is a saving grace, the art style is just outstanding, the sound is good and the learning curve here is just about right. I will tell you to buy this game if you are a diablo fan since this is a great experience for dungeon crawler fans but its not the reboot of the genre nor is it innovative to death, it gets a 6/10 but i will still recommend a buy.

For some time this was the meaning of my life, its the best tool for making great and goofy stuff that only your imagination can see. This is a great example **** to make machinimas and videos, purely perfect and its actually fun to mess around in a random map. Did I also mention it has countless hours of gameplay just for 9.99$? Im giving this a 9 for the fact that there are a few problems like, as presented with the other source games downloading stuff over and over is not the funnest. I can easily recommend this game, it is a great and powerful tool that every person must have.

I like this game, its actually extremely entertaining and it has a great price, a great way to spend my time. I like this game, it is a great and varied example of a tower defense game that is actually fun to play. It has elements that are quite new that tower defense games need to adapt. However, this game can get to be so stressing, and I really mean it, it gets quite difficult and stressing at a certain point and this is not the best for me. However I will praise that it's a great game with good gameplay and cool visuals, it gets a well deserved 8/10 and I do recommend this as a purchase.

Feb 12, 2012
This is pure epicness, its the 1st Portal's potential maxed out to the funnest limits, this is Valve doing what they do best, innovate. I have to say playing through this game in both singleplayer and multiplayer was extremely fun and entertaining and it gives me the feeling that it was worth playing this game again and again. Oh, also the great sense of humor from the 1st game is triplicated in this game having great fun jokes and awesome voice acting. The new elements added to this game like the light bridge and all the gels are again, amazing. The free DLC they added with the challenge modes also adds quite some value and the multiplayer game is just so fun playing. It is definitely a must-buy and its a great 10/10

Makes sense to me making this since the original Portal had all this challenge modes and making it free is just great since if it costed it would have had a much lower score. It is a great DLC and most importantly it has replay value, I always retired and played so I could beat my friends, it was great. This is addictive though if you have already finished the game it feels like you are playing this over and over which is the only downside. Since it's free I can easily recommend you to get it since its not much space and its worth your time.

Jan 26, 2012
This game is not really a game, its a pretty well made and enjoyable comic, actually if this would just had been the comic it would have been great! I would have given a higher score, but its because of the stupid puzzles that this game is kind of ruined. It seems to me this is like ruined potential when it came to gameplay since the puzzles get horrifyingly hard near the end. If they would have made longer the comics and make it have a little bit more story then I would be fine! In fact I would be quite pleased to give 5$ its just the stupid mini games that ruin everything. This game CAN be considered only if you are interested in a little story in an interactive comic but the gameplay is just **** ill admit. So think before buying this game.

I am so pissed right now with Bioware, I generally don't give games this low of a score but they screwed it all up! Everything that is story related is now completely screwed up! Every story element related to KOTOR here is awful, how they decide to show Revan in this game is also extremely disappointing! The gameplay here is good but now that the story has screwed up everything there is not a purpose to play this game, this game is no more for me. Thanks to this game KOTOR 3 will probably never be made! Thanks for nothing Bioware!

Steel Storm: Burning Retribution7
Jan 25, 2012
After some pretty mediocre top-down shooters Steel Storm: Burning Retribution seems like haven with great weapons and excellent level design as well as multiplayer and its own level designer. But this game has a limit on how good it gets since sometimes it can feel a little bit lacking of the fun we see in other top-down shooters and it seems to get repetitive if you play it for to much time and there are several bugs that can hopefully get fixed by patches soon enough. After I am done with the bad it seems that there is still hope for this game since there is a lot of fun to be had even on co-op multiplayer since it makes it funner blasting all the enemies with some friends. Fortunately the frame rate is great since I always had a solid 60FPS and the requirements to run this game are not that high. The cheap price of this game makes this a recommendable title despite some issues that can be fixed mostly by patches. I think this is worth your especially if you get it during a steam offer just make sure to download the demo first to see if this is your type of game.

LIMBO9
Jan 25, 2012
This game is nearly priceless, its like a puzzle-platformer, horror, killing simulator mix that results in something extremely special and entertaining. Not only do the black and white colors combine to make an excellent creepy atmosphere but the ways you die and the events that happen in the game create tension. The puzzles are pure quality, they are so good they nearly seem comparable to puzzles in Valve games, and there is a lot of variety in each situation. My only complains with this game, the story is really not clear and some of the puzzles are quite difficult giving you many deaths. Limbo is an amazing game which becomes challenging but not frustrating, this is one of my games of the year and a must-buy title on any platform.

Jan 24, 2012
This game keeps being as amazing as it was more than a decade ago, this port is everything that we needed since it keeps the gameplay unchanged and controls adapted perfectly and it has a really classic feel to it which is refreshing. There are many secrets to find in this game extending the gameplay and replay value and the RPG elements are great. The only issue I had with this game was the really difficult learning curve since its not the best game for starters. Overall this is an amazing game just like before at 800 microsoft points its easy to recommend.

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch8
Jan 8, 2012
I consider this game to not really be a full-game, its more like a mod with price for Half-Life 2, but if it's a mod then its a great mod. The guns blazing, balls crazy action of this game is just epic with the great gear of Half-Life 2 weapons at your hands. The gravity gun is the real star of this game, its so much fun blasting objects into other players. This game however, isn't a real step forward since its really buggy and it has no recoil like Half-Life 2 and it really achieves nothing but its still fun. Overall I liked this game a lot despite some downsides, the affordable price is also another thing to consider but this game won't please everyone. You should consider this game but analyze before you buy it.

Bejeweled fans already know how addicting this game can be and Bejeweled Blitz Live combines the Bejeweled formula with multiplayer and twist mode to make something entertaining. The classic and twist modes are fun in the overall game and the controls are purely fantastic just like the bright effects and nice graphics. The adding of multiplayer is also great, beating someone in a multiplayer game is quite satisfying and you can play multiplayer in either twist or classic mode. I would have wished more game modes however and i would also like a price lower since 800 microsoft points seems like too much for this game. Overall this is a great game that still has its downside but it is damn fun.

Mass Effect: Pinnacle Station5
Jan 6, 2012
This DLC tries to add at least 2-4 hours of gameplay to Mass Effect but it bugged me that you can't have ended the game to play it making me start a completely new game. This brings a series of "bot matches" which are basically challenges in 2 maps each in which you have to get the best score or time. Unfortunately there is almost no point in playing this rather than getting a few achievements and entertaining yourself for a while, no story, few dialogues, no xp earned while playing, and it suffers from the same texture popping the game has, but its fun, and that fun can last a while. When you think of buying this DLC consider the fact that its only 400 microsoft points, but also consider why you want this and if you really want it.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary7
Jan 6, 2012
Do I like this game? Hell yes, do I think it's just as good as when the first one came out? Hell no. Halo Combat Evolved: Anniversary is different than many Halo games out there maybe because the campaign has old elements and great style, better than reach to tell you the truth. However the issues that were in the first game are still there and they are quite notable here. I am not hating really in fact, this game is quite good, it's just misleading that some things don't work as they should and some missions are in fact confusing. The campaign overall is quite good but it still has its problems and I am really not hating. The multiplayer however is amazing since it uses Halo: Reach and brings some classic maps and game modes that are really fun. The only downside is that there are only 6 maps as of today and forge world has been removed if you are not playing the multiplayer directly from reach. Overall this is a good game that still beats Call of Duty by a mile though it still has its problems.
