Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice10
Feb 20, 2017
A brilliant take on the two most iconic superheroes ever. Screw the critics this is a 5 star epic, that gets better each time I watch it. The main thing that stands out in this movie is easily Ben Affleck's Batman, we finally see this dark and gritty vigilante breaking peoples bones, as portrayed in 'The Dark Knight Returns' comic. A brilliant movie.

Suicide Squad10
Feb 17, 2017
5/5. I have truly enjoyed this movie! The plot is bit quirky, I would do it differently by focusing on Joker more, but despise this the plot is still enjoyable. The critics can say what they want, but lets be honest most of probably never read a comic book or just simply don't understand comic book movies. But like I was saying the plot is debatable but I liked it. The performances were great especially Jokers and Harley's. Being a fan of Joker and Harley this was exactly what I wanted. Leto's Joker is just pure **** I said it! But the main thing that steals the movie for me is the whooping soundtrack, which makes you feel like you are using iPod shuffle because the songs are random and that's what makes it excellent. Final verdict...Suicide Squad is one of my favorite films.

From Paris with Love10
Sep 21, 2016
From Paris With Love was an entertaining ride, with plenty of "edge of your seat" moments, humor, and lots of action. The plot kept twisting and turning, bringing one surprise after the other, which made it really interesting. Travolta was dynamic, fun and believable as a seemingly crazy but very able operative/spy. Jonathan Rhys Meyers was excellent in the role of the newbie operative who was fairly innocent and very inexperienced, but still smart. It was a far cry from the authority and power he exudes as King Henry in the Tudors series, which means to me that he's a capable actor.

Savages10
Sep 21, 2016
Blake Lively, John Travolta, and Salma Hayek(HOLY COW IS SHE HOT!), amongst others, star in this extremely violent, sexually charged(understatement), highly controversial thriller! This is a ferocious, sexy epic that never stops with the action! This reminds me a little of Breaking Bad on AMC but this movie is a LOT more controversial. Be prepared to be shocked at the ADULT content! Two friends in the marijuana business attract the attention of the Mexican Baja Cartel and it becomes VERY violent very quickly. The war that starts is one they know they cannot win. However, the Cartel kidnaps their girlfriend and then it gets personal. The Boston Globe calls this movie "a stylish, violent thriller". Rated R is an understatement due to excessive violence, nudity, sex, drugs, and language.

Killing Season10
Sep 21, 2016
Killing Season is a movie that thrills and leaves you thinking. It is timely because the tension echoes many of the current situations going on in society. In their own right each of the two in the movie have their reasons (and justifications) for their points and places. In the end (sorry, no spoiler here) the stark realization of the view from the other side really brings home the powerful moral of this movie. De Niro is his usual amazing self and Travolta delivers a nearly convincing eastern bloc persona. Well worth seeing.

The Forger10
Sep 21, 2016
My wife and I almost didn't watch it because of some of the reviews. I don't get it. We both really enjoyed it. Maybe it had something some current audiences are not used to - acting instead of lots of things blowing up and computer generated special effects. The characters were real. It was fascinating to watch Travolta trudge through life rather than strut - a man weighed down with his problems. But under the oppression you can still detect the strut. I liked the way violence was shown at at distance or not overly drawn out. The director was not trying **** you into Jerry Springer sensationalism but just show it as a part of his character's life - not too important or unimportant. The story and characters were more important.

Criminal Activities10
Sep 21, 2016
CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES is a great movie. It's got super actors that play their characters perfectly, a creative story that I bet you will not guess the final outcome and it's just one of those movies that everyone gets pretty much what they deserve. This movie grabs you from start to finish and I'd highly recommend it.

I Am Wrath10

Really good film. Premise not new, but Travolta and Meloni as partners was great. I really thought at one point Meloni was done for surrounded by three murderous drug punks, one with a .45 cal handgun pointed at his head, another with some kind of nails coming out of bat, and a real big mean looking guy, well they were dispatched in surprising fashion and to that I say well done. Really good film about corruption, and where it stops, and just when you think everything is done, it's not, a little more to go. It was great I liked it.

Very good sequel, I don't care what critics say, they get paid to pan films most of the time. But this film doesn't deserve the hate it got. It is different yes, but its a great film.

Saturday Night Fever10
Aug 19, 2016
After reading all the reviews, the one by Gareth from Disco Mountain hits it right on the head. I loved it when it came out almost 25 years ago, I think it's a masterpiece now. There's no dead space in that movie. When you consider all the issues raised, it's astounding that more people don't see the authenticity and humanity within all the flaws of the characters. What Badham did was create a seamless integration of many contemporary themes, and they still hold today in some other neighborhood anywhere in the world. First, it has some of the most natural dialogue ever written. Gritty and powerful and sexy. When I first saw it, I reacted to it with passion. Today, I see the brilliant writing and directing, and those issues! feminism, racism, class consciousness, family dysfunction, religious uncertainty, teenage angst, the inevitable changes encroaching the neighborhood. And all these social commentaries to the beat of nonstop, exhilirating music. The apathy and despair in the family scenes alone go right to the gut. I know these people! Finally, blend that in with those great Brooklyn accents, the dancing, Travolta and company, and you've got one of the most authentic movies made in the last 25 years.

Basic10
Jul 30, 2016
There is nothing basic about Basic. I thought this movie was superb; maybe I'm easier to please than a lot of the people who criticize the script because I found this to be one of the most intelligent, mesmerizing, blow-your-mind movies I've ever seen. It's a rare treat to find a movie that is not completely predictable these days, and Basic takes unpredictability and surprise to unheard of levels. There was one small aspect of the saga I successfully predicted early on, but the rest of the twists and turns this movie takes had me doing mental gymnastics. Every time you start to think you've seen at least a shadow of the light, this movie rips the rug back out from under you and plunges you into even darker depths of confusion and doubt. Best of all, this elaborate plot actually holds together, which is really just amazing. Basic is a movie that makes you think, and I have no problem admitting that I was often at a loss as to what was really going on; Basic did not insult my intelligence in any way shape or form; it challenged it constantly and delightfully humbled me in the process. At the center of the story is a Special Forces training mission that goes horribly awry. Only two of six soldiers make it out of the Panamanian jungle, one of whom is injured and the other of whom isn't talking. The base commander Styles (Timothy Daly) calls in his old buddy Hardy (John Travolta) to interrogate the witness because he feels the job is over the head of Army investigator Osborne (Connie Nielsen). Before the feds get involved, Styles wants to know why the unit leader Sgt. West (Samuel L. Jackson) and four soldiers are lying dead somewhere out in the jungle. Hardy is a former Ranger who served under and hated West, but he is now an agent with the Drug Enforcement Agency. Hardy gets the one soldier to tell his version of events, only to hear a much different story from the injured soldier when he wakes up in the hospital. So begins a quest for the truth that has Hardy and Osborne running back and forth between witnesses, discovering unexpected aspects of the case such as the existence of drug-smuggling operations being carried out inside the base and hospital, and discovering that the big fish they are striving so hard to reel in is one big whopper indeed. Do things become confusing? That's affirmative, but I see this in a positive light. This movie makes you stop and think, turning over what you have heard in your own mind not so much to predict the future as to merely stay caught up with the twists and turns you have just seen revealed before your very eyes. In the final analysis, one or two little aspects of the presentation, which occur largely in the form of dream-like flashbacks, may have a weak leg to stand on but never come close to collapsing or falling over. Some will probably be tempted to just throw their hands up in the air and give up trying to understand everything, but those who love a challenge, especially one presented in such a theatrical and awe-inspiring way, will find themselves energized and inspired to a degree few movies can hope to duplicate. For my money, Basic is one of the most intelligent, suspenseful thrillers I've seen in a long time.

Broken Arrow10
Jul 26, 2016
Broken Arrow is not an original movie, it's an action movie that's made to thrill audiences, not to leave them deep in thought. It manages to rise to the head of the pack thanks to great acting, directing and an excellent score. 2 U.S. army officers, Major Vic Deakins(John Travolta) and Captain Riley Hale(Christian Slater) are assigned to fly a jet plane carrying 2 live nukes to conduct a test. During the flight Deakins reveals his true intent, ejects the stunned Hale out of the plane, and releases the nukes before crashing it. This comes to the alert of park ranger Terry Charmical(Samantha Mathis) who immediatly sets out to find what is going on. Once the nukes are dropped Col. Max Wilkins(Delroy Lindo) is faced with bringing down Deakins and right hand man turncoat soldier Arvid Kelly(Howie Long) with the help of pencil pusher Giles Prentice(Frank Whaley). Travolta is great in an over the top but very entertaining role, and Slater does a good job as an action hero. Mathis is slightly miscast though, and should probably stick to her other hit films. Howie Long effectively plays Kelly with very little skill and no expierence, but his size helps give him on screen presence. Delroy Lindo is effective as the confident military officer, although Frank Whaley, despite being a good actor, is rather annoying in his role All in all if your looking for a great way to spend almost two hours, then sit down and watch this movie. It's definately a movie worth watching several times over **** 1/2 out of *****

The General's Daughter10
Jul 26, 2016
Watching Travolta play his character to the perfection that he does, only served to remind me why I didn't sign up - holding my tongue and biting my lip isn't me; and how he speaks his mind at the end of the movie to the General - LOVE IT ! Is the movie any good? Oh sure it is - its a great 'who-dunnit'.... '**** for such an excellent movie, I can't understand why this isn't repeated across our screens instead of the tired 'same old' rubbish. Casting was well thought out with almost every aspect of this area not having any stone left unturned, their reward for their efforts is that actors 'click' and it shows too ....by incorporating a very strong storyline, adding some excellent actors, very good camera-work and fine direction...a movie worth 90 minutes of anyone's time is here. Very enjoyable.....love Travolta extolling the virtues of ''....I particularly like the bath beads...'' Definitely Highly Recommended and gets a 10/5 from me, lol

Swordfish10

People has they own opinion. And most people will agree with me that this is a very good movie. I was blown away while watching the movie. Underestimated the film and I had a pleasant nice surprise. Travolta as a bad guy is simply amazing. He has mayor roles as bad guys in Broken Arrow, Face/Off, The Punisher etc. And he pulls this one off brilliantly. And lets not forget about the great supporting cast: Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Don Cheadle. This is a must watch for any movie fans and also John Travolta fans, as you will be blown away. A blockbuster that has everything, very slick and stylish. What else can I say excellent film.
