A disappointing follow up to a decent game. Ash of Gods went from tactical RPG to a soulless card game with terrible writing and a terrible story. It would be one thing if there was at least some originality to it but 90% of the artwork is literally just copied and pasted from the first game without any of the context. It’s just… very bad…

It really is just a straight up Mickey Mouse ripoff of bioshock and I mean that in the worst way possible.

I was hesitant at first because it really just looks like a total rip off of The Banner Saga, but it honestly holds its own just fine. The plot is very interesting with many choices and a non linear path to take with multiple different endings. All of the interweaving storylines mesh well with each other and the characters all feel very fleshed out and unique. The music and art are both stellar and the combat system is interesting and fun. I’ve played a few times now, making different choices along the way and it definitely has a lot of replay value.

I loved Ash of Gods: Redemption. Ash of Gods: The Way just feels like a mobile game spin off of the original. The plot is also impossible to take seriously. It’s basically this: The enemy nation is going to wage war with us soon and they’re better at war because they’re really good at Magic: The Gathering, so we need you, the chosen one, (for some reason) to get really good at Magic: The Gathering so we can stand a chance in a real war. This game is such a downgrade from the original in every possible way. Most of the art is just copied and pasted from the original, the story is nonsense, the dialogue is bad, the music is unchanged, I’m just so disappointed.
