Please wait... That's the entire game for me so far. I can't even get it to install, so the game is totally non-functioning, I'll change it if I can ever get it to work. I've tried following the fixes people have put online, none of it works. Does the exact same thing. I get to 30Mb of the download, it sticks on one file and nothing else. Been trying to fix this for nearly 2 hours now which should never be a thing, just to get a game to actually install...

Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection2
May 1, 2018
I love the C&C games, all of the originals are phenomenal games and always have been... That said, this game is simply miss-sold. It is sold as "Updated to run on Windows 7+". I am using Windows 7. C&C - Fails to work C&C RA - Fails to work Not tried any of the others yet, but I am sure the later ones will be fine. However I bought an updated version of the game because I wanted to play the games without faffing. Instead, I paid money for the majority of a collection I already own and will have to mess around with game files to get them working again anyway. If at all possible... This should not be required on a game that's apparently been updated... So the review is not for the games themselves... It's for this shoddy release of it and the lies written on the packaging.

XCOM 29
Feb 5, 2016
Of the negative reviews I read, they seemed to be primarily "The game is too hard..." or "It runs like crap..." I am not saying the game runs without a hitch (hence the 9, rather than 10) but I get a strong feeling that the people saying this is making the game unplayable are playing it on **** rigs... I turned it down to high because I got a few drops in FPS when new enemies spawned and some in the loading screens. Being turn based, NONE of this makes it unplayable... The game runs absolutely fine for me now, only very minor drops. As for difficulty... It's XCOM ffs. Don't jump in to a game that's designed to be difficult and then complain it's too hard and thus mark it down... A 1-3 is for genuinely 'bad' games, not because the reviewer **** at it... I've been playing for 4 hours and have not yet lost a soldier (granted I currently sit with 4-5 out for the next 2 weeks, but that's expected) so no, the sectoids are NOT that hard to beat, even with the backup... Anyways, rant over stupid reviews over... Graphics - Not great, but they don't need to be. The art style is nice and fitting with the previous game, so in short it isn't ground breaking, but looks nice. Gameplay - Same as XCOM, little more difficult but not much so far. (Not X-Com - By that, I mean it doesn't have the "OMG I am going to smash my PC" of the originals, when a sectoid blows your entire team up as soon as you step off the lander). Story - Couldn't say yet, not far enough in but I'm enjoying it so far. Launch - Shaky, but not game breaking. As a staunch fan of XCOM and its predecessors, I can not recommend this enough IF you like the style of games.

Personally, I do not understand the large number of negative comments on the game, especially if you browse Steam's reviews... 90% of the complaints about the game all stem from Uplay. I will admit, having an additional DRM can be slightly (and I mean slightly...) irritating, but honestly? People are giving the game 0/10 due to it and it has absolutely no real affect on the game itself... It's not stopped me playing it, nor has it stopped me downloading patches etc, it simply opens up a new client when you run the game. So, that pet peeve down, the game itself: Graphically, the game does look nice and so far the story has been at least average. The voice acting is pretty poor I'll admit, but the cheesiness of it kind of adds to the games charm. The gameplay is much as you would expect from the style of game. Does it get repetitive? Sure... But so do other HoM&M games and similar games such as Disciples etc. The combat is pleasant enough, though enemies have a tendancy to completely ignore units right infront of them and make a bee-line straight for your ranged units. That's my only real complaint, and it could be rectified by adding in some form of opportunity attack should a unit move whilst adjacent to a melee unit. I haven't played the MP and chances are I never will as I rarely have time for this sort of game online, but as a whole, the game's kept me pretty occupied for the last couple of days since I bought it, so I would definitely recommend, particularly if you can get hold of it whilst it's on sale. So, I would personally give this an 8/10. It could be argued as 6-7/10, but due to the number of unfair reviews, I am willing to give it a bit higher.

Dota 26

I'll be honest, the game itself isn't particularly bad. Having tried out the original, DOTA2 is somewhat more forgiving to newbies, allowing games against bots to at least practice on. Graphically, it's not bad and there's a nice selection of heroes which is not too overwhelming like some MOBA games (here's looking at you LoL). Obviously, the major issue with the game is its fan-base, which comes across as a rather spoilt, repugnant brat... If you aren't quite up to their standard of playing, prepare to be barraged with insult upon insult. But these are issues that are pandemic to the genre itself, so doesn't really warrant marking it down, it's to be expected if you've actually made any attempt at checking a game out first... All this aside, the games do get competitive, but in my opinion, this is the only real thing going for it, the constant thriving to beat the opponent. If you do not connect with the community in some way, then it's not a particularly enjoyable affair. It's free though, so it's definitely at least worth a look, perhaps you'll love it, or perhaps you'll hate it... But if you haven't put any cash up-front, there's no harm either way.

Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition5

Much as I want to love this game, I am a huge fan of the board game and a massive fan of the Warhammer universe, the game tries so hard to make you hate it. The game itself is extremely faithful to the actual TT game, for that, I can't fault it. Nor can I fault the graphics, which are very nice for the style of game. The only fault I have with it infact, is one that ruins the entire game. The dice roller. I have never been particularly lucky in gaming... But this game takes all your bad luck and rolls it into one sitting. An example or two of this, is when I charged a rat ogre backed up by three other Skaven, into a single, lone goblin. This should have been overkill, but I figured what the hell... Only to roll 3 skulls. I clicked re-roll, low and behold, a further 3 skulls. The goblin then went on to get through my armour and kill the rat ogre. The apothecary re-rolls and gets dead again. I could forgive it once, but it happens all the time. Another frequent issue is the 'Go for it' checks... These are, as any veteran of the game would know, a 2+ basic. -1 for each opponent nearby. I have made 9-10 checks in games with gutter runners who can re-roll 1s, only to fail each and every time on both attempts, maybe passing once in a game. The opponent will then try and pass every time. Then there's leaving tacklezones... Frequently you find your own nimble types get floored trying to leave a zone, but their heavy hitters and monsters always escape even when surrounded... It's for these reasons and more that I cannot give this a higher score... It's really only one problem, but when that one problem encompasses everything about the game, it kind of makes it hard to play the game without almost breaking your keyboard each game.

Disciples III: Renaissance6
Oct 29, 2013
That at least one person rated this a 0 because they did not pay attention to what they were buying is bad enough, but that the game had so many bad reviews is unjustified... The game is not perfect, not by any stretch of the imagination... But it is enjoyable and it's still got the same Disciples feel. My only real qualm was the way that having the building bought automatically upgraded a unit as soon as they leveled, such as the archer who's first 'upgrade' required level 12 iirc, but a lvl 3 unit would imediately jump to level 12 when they leveled. In my eyes, this made it a bit too easy, but largely, the game is enjoyable and well worth a try, especially as it's now dirt cheap...
