I loved Perfect Tides, easily one of my favourite games of the last 15+ years. The writing was incredible, and how it conveyed memories and emotions was fantastic.
I've been playing this sequel for a few hours and the spirit is still there. Yet another fantastic, emotional adventure.
I really hope the developer keeps making games, she is amazing.

Tried this game on a whim, I didn't knew what to expect but it looked nice from the trailers. And I must say, the trailers don't do it justice. This game is incredible, I wasn't expecting to be amazed this much by a game I basucally never of heard before buying. Great pixel art, great puzzle design overall, fun, challenging without being frustrating and engaging. This game truly is a gem.

I didn't expect to have so much fun with this game, but it's extremely addictive. I love the Diablo saga and Exile-like games, but I never liked when they become a super fast spamfest towards the endgame. A return to form to the first Diablo is, frankly, very refreshing. Love the slow-paced action and the art direction. The game is really well thought and well put together, and you'll find yourself at 3:00 AM thinking "just one more floor...". Excellent.

Best metroidvania in recent years, hands down. I loved Lodoss and its characters back then, and having them in a metroidvania (a game genre I love) it's amazing for me. This game is fantastic, looks great with some of the best pixel art I've ever seen, plays fantastic and it's tons of fun. Only downside is that it's a bit short and you're left wanting for more. I'm also not totally sold on the "switching" mechanics. I really, really wish for a sequel with more of the Lodoss characters and lore, maybe with Ashram as the main character *_*
Truly fantastic game.

This game is fantastic and perfectly scratches an itch. Do you like '90s coin ops? Do you like games Rastan (which is the obvious primary influence), Black Tiger, Cadash and so on? Do you want more of that? Then buy this game. It's simple and perfect, it does what it needs to do without overcomplicating its mechanics (a sin that most of "retro" action platforms do, overcomplicating their mechanics just to distinguish themselves and ending up less fun in the process), it's straighforwad and it TONS OF FUN. This game could have been in a corner of my favourite arcade back then and I'm loving **** controls perfectly, the artstyle is fantastic, the platforming and combat are simple and fun, I bloody LOVE the old school character design (more of that please!), having four different characters is awesome and I'm just having a great time with **** I just force myself to find something I think can be done better, I would say the characters would be improved by making them a little bigger (just a little!) to add some details to them, and a different button for using the items plus and upward slash would have been nice to have, but those are really some minor pet peeves.Again, I'm loving this game and I recommend it to anyone who would have some simple, straightforward fun.

I play Genshin and HSR since almost the beginning, but this game is not good. It's got tons of style, the animations are awesome but the combat is very lacking. It's just boring. You can't even jump. You also get interrupted all the time by characters that stop your game just to say something in a very, very verbose way (typical hoyo). Plus, it's got the usual hoyo style gacha, which is very stingy. Avoid.

Overall, it's a good JRPG. I would have loved to give it a 9 or a 10, but there are some things that really don't work well with me. - Graphics: Amazing. Simply amazing, Character design is fantastic, backgrounds are spectacular... vivid, varied, interesting. Animation is excellent. Cutscenes are fantastic too (and, pet peeve, there's no hint of flash-like "skeletal animation", which is a huge plus) - Music: Ok. Does its job and it's "on tune" with the SNES era JRPGS, but nothing memorable, sadly. - Cast: Bad. I like the two main characters and (despite a common sentiment) how "plain" they are. The rest is pretty bad, ESPECIALLY for Garl, who is unsufferable with all his "AWESOME!!1!". Only 6 characters is also bad for such a game, especially considering how few attacks they have (and combos often recycle some animations) - Combat: Oh boy. This is what keeps the game down from becoming a classic. It's REALLY bad. Let me just say that combos are AWESOME and I have no idea why only Chrono Trigger did it before, but that's the end of the good part. Combat is not just boring, but sometimes quite annoying depending on resources you need to stop an attack RIGHT NOW and resources you have available. But the worst is having to time attacks/blocks, it's really a stupid idea and stupid design choice. I detest this system with a burning passion. Also, as I already mentioned, characters have too few attacks for the combat to get interesting or tactical, it's mostly just "spam what you have available". Also, leveling is completely pointless. - Exploration: There's no map for the zones (unacceptable) and the camera angle often makes it VERY difficult to understand terrain composition, making it very confusing to move around and understanding where you can and cannot go - Story: Meh. Nothing special here. Serviceable, mediocre JRPG story and writing, it's definitely no Chrono Trigger. Also, the first "plot twist", just after killing the first big enemy, is VERY preposterous and forced. This game has sometimes been compared to Chrono Trigger, but there's no Chrono Trigger here. The only similarities can be found in the presence of combos and being able to see the enemies on the map before the battle encounter. That's it. All things considered, it's a decent JRPG with fantastic art, but sadly falls flat on its mechanics. P.S.Screw the new stupid metacritic that removes all the vertical spacing on text. Can we go back to the old, superior, version of the site?

This is not a game. This is a manual on how you do a remake. It's perfect: faithful to the original, but with updated graphics and controls, all done without betray the core of the original game or "adapting for modern sensibilities" (ugh). It's a work done with love and respect. The game in itself is fantastic, it looks phenomenal, has amazing map design, oozes atmosphere, it's got smart gameplay and just shows how bad game designing has become for our generation. It's also highly customizable in its difficulty, and this should be another example for modern developers. You can ease or make harder the combat or the puzzles or all of those things, you can fully customize your experience. This game also show how pathetic some gaming "journalists" are. Yeah, there's no handholding - what are you, a toddler? Buy it, it's beyond awesome.

What an excellent game. it's possibily the best "classic" adventure game since Thimbleweed Park. Writing is great, dialogues are fun and on-point, the peculiar humour is actually pretty funny, pixel art is really good (although the particular palette chosen with mostly mute colors can be a little tiring. Weird since it's about dreams and you expect them to be vibrant. Reminds me of Maniac Mansion in many ways, though.). Voice acting is quite good too and there's TONS of useless hotspots with flavour text, all voiced, that add lot of personality to the game world. As a downside, there is an hotspot button but it's - annoying to use (need to keep clicked a few seconds before it activates) - mostly pointless because it doesn't mark all the hotspots, but just a few. Feels like it marks only the important ones, so to act like a hint button, but it doesn't always follow this rule. Musics are great, and I SWEAR they stole a few notes here and there from Monkey Island and casually glued them in, but even if they're well composed and appropriate for the game, sometimes the loop can be a little annoying if you're stuck in the same place for a while. So, all great so far right? But wait, there's more! Here's where the game really shines. Puzzles. Puzzles can be very, very clever. I'm loving them. I've got stuck more than once, that good way of being stuck, not the annoying one, and there's been a number of "A-AH!" moments; They can be weird but logical (logic with a sprinke of moon) and they're all very well designed and interesting. I am truly impressed on how good the puzzles in this game are, although sometimes there's a bit of nudging the player in the right direction that I don't really like, as in characters casually mentioning something you need to do to progress, that for me translates either into "don't tell me things! I want to work it out myself!" or "I already figured it out, don't patronize me you son of a **** No big deal, anyway. It's a me-thing. Fantastic game, a must play for anyone who likes old style adventures.

I'm VERY impressed on how good the "port" is, how many options we have and how good the controls are - both keyboard (2 possible bindable keys for every action, I always love that) and mouse (cancel with right click, super convenient). I'm surely not used to expect this level of attention to detail for an old port, especially from japanese devs. Excellent, just excellent. Love the art direction and the voice acting (Japanese) so far is quite good too. Music is fantastic, they don't write those timeless soundtracks anymore. Mechanically is just FFT, but that's what we wanted, what we expected and what we like in a game like this. On a negative note, the graphics uses a Super2XSal filter. It look like they smeared vaseline on the game and it is ATROCIOUS and I wish we could disable that.

Review submit is broken, so here's the points condensed I bloody hate Shinryu difficulty stages and the mechanics behind FR. It's just a slog, boring and not fun. This is really a good game. Great pixel art, some really cool animations (maybe a little exaggerated at times), fantastic music, good writing and simple, but effective and very in line with 80's storytelling, plot. Pretty sure it will have a sequel and can't wait for it. Puzzles are good, mostly logical and occasionally I got stuck but once solved the main problem all was kind on autoplay; I had to use a walkthrough for two puzzles: one is... very random to me (the floating crystal) and I suppose one of the devs has a degree in chemistry, and the other I would NEVER have solved it (the cola). it falls a little short on the prologue, it doesn't take enough time to set the tone and you have to fill in the blanks, a little too many references (and I bloody hate the name changes i.e. "Galaxy Wars" instead of "Star Wars" - it's not even consistent since some are the real ones) and some voice actors who are downright terrible, even sounding like a parody (the hobo, the electrician). All the main characters (the kids, the Bull and girl, whatever her name was) have excellent voice actors, though. The girl needed more space to develop the character and interact with the cast, anyway - as it is, she's sadly just background. Also more Bull action would have been cool, but I guess money was short for that. Negative points: - The save system is AWFUL. Absolutely awful. What an embarassment. We need unlimited save slots in P&C adventures. - Options are very limited overall - The game should have taken more time for the prologue to develop the setting and the characters, and add more of 80s tropes (school, bullies, you know the usual 80s narrative things) - Walking: ok, bear with me. This is often very annoying because you always have to be mindful of where you click. Meaning that due to hotspots in the path you'll often open the menu instead of walking. And if you double click to run you'll have to listen to a description or something, so you'll have to find an empty spot to avoid the triggers. This seems like a minor thing, but I assure you, it's VERY annoying - you move a between screens quite often and it happens a lot. Also, the action coin is pretty big and ugly, and sometimes part of it might appear out of screen, forcing you to close it, walk more and reopen it. And by the way, this would have been a perfect game for verbs, why the **** did they go with a barebone coin interface is beyond me. - Writing can be a little amateurish and ingenuous here and there, but nothing major. Sometims it feels... "compressed". In any case, excellent game, easily one of my favourite P&C adventures of the last years.

Good enough game. I really like the art style (reminds me a lot of Broken Age), but I detest those stupid flash game animations. They're also super stiff in this game, and there aren't many. You know, the generic empty hand movement when you use an item? Yeah, there's a lot of that. Good voice acting, very convincing. Puzzles are quite good so far, with puzzle chains and more puzzles available at the same time so you can switch at your leisure. Although... some are memory-related and force you to go back to locations to check stuff again if you forgot a step (no, the main character doesn't take notes), I encountered another one that I solved by chance because the item wasn't collectable the first time I found it and it changed its significance later on [the folder with the paycheck], and I'm finding that the game is actually really hard. But here's the thing... PIXEL HUNTING. Yeah, there's no highlight key. I don't want to comment this issue further, I bloody hate it and pixel hunt shouldn't exist anymore in this age. Decent interface, but here's another thing I bloody hate - it's designed for tablets. Right mouse click do absolutely nothing, but at least you can use the mouse wheel or "I" to bring down the inventory. Oh, and no key rebinding OF COURSE. (screw you) The story is intriguing so far, good setting, and pushes me to progress. So far I'd give it a 8/10, but considering the pixel hunting and the other pet peeves let's skim it down to 6/10.

Return to Monkey Island0
Oct 31, 2022
Disclaimer: The Secret of Monkey Island and LeChuck's Revenge are my all-time favourite games and they will never be topped. I love Ron Gilbert, he's my favourite developer and I loved to death Thimbleweed Park. I had a very bad feeling about Return after seeing that god-awful trailer. Worse than I thought. Much worse than I thought, since I was confident Gilbert's writing would have been top notch despite the art direction. I was wrong. The artstyle is adequate for what the game writing and story are. And I don't mean it in a nice way. Yeah, it's an absolute disaster visually, ugly with cheap flashlike skeletal animations everywhere. It's small, both in scope and in lenght - it has no breadth. It's empty. Just compare the islands in act IV with the islands in Monkey Island 2. There is no Caribbean to be found here. The puzzles are easy and not particularly well designed or interesting, some of them also have small hints on how to solve them (like seeing a blowfish while going down the anchor). They're just silly. The interface... well, I hate those barebone interfaces designed for tablets and little kids at their first P&C experience. And the writing. Oh my god. I said the art style is adequate... because it's a full fledged low tier nickelodeon cartoon. It's silly through and through. Forget On Stranger Tides. It's not a pirate story anymore, it's a cartoon. LeChuck - from a scary ghost pirate - became a caricature, Elaine is utterly destroyed, as is everyone else. Cartoon caricatures. And the writing. I don't even know where to start. Pretentious overall. I'm convinced that in 30 years Ron got sick of people asking him about Monkey Island (and a secret that never existed) and started to resent his creature. Now it's a meta story on growing old and the likes. I don't even feel bad about the ending like most people (I LOVED MI2 ending), but... AGAIN? Not that I was expecting anything different due to all the clues during the game. And where the hell their fixation for THE SECRET came out? They make it sounds like they didn't search for anything else since the beginning of the saga, while it was NEVER a thing. And why Chuckie and Guybrush aren't the ones playing, since MI2 was Guybrush's story? "Uh, no, it weren't them" yes, they were, clearly. We also saw his parents in the dream, and they were not strangers. They retconned A LOT and it ****. Ron was hell-bent on NOT giving the fans what they wanted. Gilbert had no idea what to do with this game, scratched everything he planned and thought (his famous 17 points and "Guybrush goes to hell and Stan is there") and destroyed his creature. The music is also disappointing. I mean, it's good but... it's the bare minimum. They just basically gave an orchestration to the old tunes. And it's overdone and overcomplicated, in 1 year no one will remember those tunes, while we still perfectly remember every song in MI1 30 years later. A mention for Dominic Amato, who does an excellent job - still not my Guybrush voice and still doesn't sound like MI1-MI2 Guybrush should sound (too -again- cartoony), but he's GOOD at his job and he was obviously very committed to the part.

Perfect Tides10
Mar 19, 2022
I just completed Perfect Tides. Oh man, am I gonna miss it. It really hit the spot and made me very nostalgic. I wanted to stay there in the island of Perfect Tides indefinitely. I need some sort of sequel right now. This game is amazing. It's a beautifully told slice of life. Smart, witty, sad, real. Mara is an awesomely written character. She's a mess, a relatable. real, flawed, believable mess of a teenager. It's easy to draw parallels from her and our own experiences. The game suffers a bit from being sometimes unfocused and unclear, leaving you alone without any clear objective or guidance... hey, just like Mara! The writing is stellar, I googled Meredith Gran (never heard of her and her comics) and now I wonder how much of the game is an autobiography - it's just too focused, believable and relatable - too real sometimes. Mara is not a bidimensional character, she's a mess, confused about herself and with complex feelings and thoughts. It's sad, depressing, sweet and fun. I wasn't that impressed with game writing since Disco Elysium. I LOVE the art style and the animation. I think that this and Thimbleweed Park are the only games that manage to capture the spirit of '90s adventures while staying new, modern and fresh. Characters and backgrounds look great and the use of color is fantastic. I also quite like the art style used, overall. There's lots of cool animations too.

The Captain9
Dec 17, 2021
This game is a masterpiece. Summarizing, avoiding any kind of spoiler, the premise: you are a starfleet captain traveling in space and on your route you can visit planets and space stations. Each "visit" consists of a few screens, often only one, and it plays like it was an episode of Star Trek TOS, which is obviously a huge influence on the game itself. Still playing, it will probably take me quite some time to complete because I keep wanting to try and see where each choice leads me. Which is pretty dumb, since when you replay the game from the beginning you can autoselect the choices already unlocked and skip the parts you don't want to replay (excellent system, imo). This game is fantastic. It's one of the best adventure games I played these years, on the podium with Thimbleweed Park and Memoria. the writing, the humour and dialogues are excellent (very short and straight to the point), especially love the snarky shuttle... but it also can be quite dark at times. It has a really good soundtrack. The pixel art style might not be for everyone (not completely sold about the characters myself, they remind me too much of Sworcery, which I hated) but it's really good and has some excellent backgrounds and often a great use of color. The puzzles are often really smart, there's a lot of "ooooh, lightbulb!" moments and they're always logical, varied and interesting. The sense of adventure and exploration is PHENOMENAL. There's tons of choices & consequences that really matter, and they're all viable and valid - I actually think I **** up badly (stupid sexy wormholes) and I'm gonna get a bad ending, but I'm still going. And the combat... yes, there's combat... I dunno, since I'm going "full pacifist good guy". I've read good things about it but I only played a simulation on the ship's computer and it looked pretty bland. I have a very short list of issues with it: - Not much interaction with the crew members. Shame. - Missing a hotspot button on the mouse wheel and having to go and click it on the top right corner is kind of annoying. A full rebind (also for inventory etc.) would have been nice. - No manual savegames. Ok, the game autosaves EVERYWHERE and keeps them forever, but it's still inconvenient at times. And I want my usual list of favourite moments. - Had to close an eye on a few puzzles which, altough well designed, pulled a little my suspension of disbelief. (No spoilers here) Pet peeves, though. If you like Sci-Fi, buy it. If you like Star Trek, buy it. Heck, the only reason not to play it would be to really hate Star Trek or pixel art.

Flynn: Son of Crimson9
Oct 27, 2021
This game kinda came out of nowhere for me, but it's a really, really good platformer. Simple yet effective: you control Flynn on his quest to blah blah blah, the game is a classic platformer with some brawler mechanics - he starts with a sword and during the game he acquires new weapons and abilities, and combat is mainly focused on dodging the enemies' attacks and counterattack. Nothing complex, but it works and it's fun. Controls are tight and precise, the game is really a pleasure to play and it's really engaging, I found myself unable to stop playing, "just one more stage" and then it's 3:00 AM. Tons of fun. The pixel art is ASTONISHING. It's really beautiful. Detailed, colorful, skillfully animated, very pleasant. Easily one of my favourite indie pixel art of these last years. Pet peeves: the dodge-focused combat could have been better, it's often hard to see the "tells" and thus evading, and it's kinda annoying having to dodge all the time even the smallest trash enemies, especially on small platforms. Another little thing that bothered me is that you can't rebind a few keys (menu, inventory and the key to skip dialogue) which is quite annoying. Nothing major, but still I don't see any reason not to let us rebind them and have those keys more easily reachable. All in all a really good game, I can't wait to play more games from this studio.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles9
Aug 8, 2021
I am very, VERY impressed with how refined the options and customization is. Didn't expect that from a Japanese game (they're usually quite far behind in this regard). Complete keyboard rebind, keyboard shortcuts for everything, tons of graphical customization, spoken language selection, multiple save slots - everything. Excellent work. Its got the usual Ace Attorney quirks and humour (which I really like), the usual slowness in getting to the point at the beginnings (LET ME PLAY GODDAMMIT) and I'm pleased to see this time there's a log that you can go back to (I accidentaly skip text by mistake since I activated the "free skip" option because I always hated how slow text is in AA games). The protagonist is... ok? I thought I would have liked him more, but I bloody hate how he darts his eyes left and right and how he raises his hand like a schoolboy. His friend is kind of smug/annoying. I might change my mind about this eventually, I just started it. Animations are cool and all, but I still prefer 2D over this 3D which is a little cheap and low poly.

A masterpiece. Don't be fooled by the camera angle, this is more a P&C adventure than a RPG. Oh, there's *a lot* of roleplayng there, there's an extensive stat/skill system, but there is no real combat system and most of the game is resolved through dialogues and skill checks. And this is where the game shines. The characters, the story, writing are *stellar*. I haven't seen a game so well written in decades. Sep 12, 2019
Point & Click adventure done right. The game is gorgeous. The art is fantastic and the animation is really impressive: stunning and fluid, it's a beauty to behold. All in all, the art and animations are the peak of this game. Beautiful. The characters are overall pretty great, the cat is super fun with her snarky attitude and the whole cast is interesting enough. The story has up and downs: mostly great, with some very nice moments where you're really drawn into the mistery - but at times - rarely - feels a little rushed and a bit tacky (the Transylvanian castle part). But most of the times it works, it's compelling and you want to keep playing to see what's behind the corner. Voice acting is a mixed bag. Some very good, other not that great and at times there are some volume discrepancies, but overall it's a decent job. The puzzles. Well, the game is very easy. The puzzles are all logical to the point that it's really hard to end stuck somewhere in this game. I personally don't mind a low challenge in P&C games, but if you do, know that's it's really easy and not a challenge at all. Overall: amazing game from a small studio. It's incredible what they achieved with so few people and at their first gaming development experience. This is how you should do P&C games. Can't wait to see their next projects. A must buy for all P&C adventure fans.

So. I completed the game, here's a quick review. Bottom line: I love it, it's amazing and it has great design for the most part. But it has problems, and it can be pointlessly irritating without never really being difficult. The art style is fantastic. It falls occasionally in the "flash vibe" that I find extremely offputting, but it's very limited and the wonderful art direction and amazing animations completely make up for it. It's really pleasant to the eye, with the detailed characters and vibrant colors that never go off-theme. Beautiful. The controls are pretty thight and responsive, you always feel completely in control of your character - except in a few certain particular situations that can lead to frustration (more of this later). Combat is pretty simple, you click and you thrust your sword, plus the various trasformations have puzzle-solving abilities that can also be used in combat. Old school, simple, effective. I like it, but it's probably a matter of taste: my friend found it too simplicistic and didn't like it at all. I put an accent on "thrust" and this is important: since you don't swing the sword (so you don't make an arc) but just hit right in front of you, combat against flying enemies can be pretty annoying. Especially when they decide to hit you going through walls. Quite annoying. The game starts like a classic platform-metroidvania... but this is somewhat deceiving. The more you progress, the more the accent is put on the puzzles and less on the platforming and exploration. After a certain point, every room is a puzzle room. The game changes A LOT after that certain point. And that point is the volcano. Man, **** the volcano and whoever designed that **** Anyway, this big change is the biggest downside in my eyes, since it makes the game kind of stressful and some "easy" connection room would have helped in relieving the stress of the constant puzzles. Let's add that the puzzles are often an exercise on frustration with no real difficulty, just plain "trial and error" that can get extremely annoying without really adding anything worthwile. Examples: as I said before, the controls are thight but not while jumping and "bouncing" on enemies, and there are a few puzzles where you are asked to do just that that quickly lead to frustration: jump, jump, you fall, you go back up, jump, jump, you fall et cetera. Both me and my friend found this really annoying and pointless. And let's not even talk about the puzzle where you have to freeze the fireballs. There's a puzzle where you follow some currents underwater, it's technically quite easy BUT if you are just a pixel too high or too low you get **** in by another current and dragged all the way to the beginning. Irritating. Sometimes you really feel that the game is trying its best to just irritate you for no reason. Another little thing that annoyed me quite a lot: you find the last upgrade for the best gear at the very end of the room before the final boss' room. Really, what's the ****ing point? This leaves zero space to enjoy that hard-earned gear. I realize that, me being me, I talked way more about the downsides but overall the game is great fun, it's cheerful and light-hearted, it's most of the time a joy to play and explore and I liked it a lot... just be careful that can sometimes be an irritating chore. P.S. **** the volcano. Oh, by the way. My friend left the game at the mansion (the zone just after the volcano) because he were annoyed by the mirror puzzles: in his word that was pointless busywork and he just didn't care anymore.

What a nice game. It's a little amateurish in some regards, but it's clearly a work of love. Very old style. Love the pixel art, clearly hand drawn - possibly pixel by pixel. Biggest problem for me is how slow the main character is animated. It's just painful to wait for him to go from one point to another. The main character and most of the other characters I met so far are quite likable (love the gentle woodlands troll!) and voice acting is a bit of hit and miss - really like the main character, but some other sounds like the actor is trying - without much luck - to mask his voice to sound different. Funny, well written dialogues that don't overstay their welcome [the game is not pointlessly verbose] and the puzzles are pretty easy so far but enjoyable.

Cannot stand the autosave system. Such a stupid decision from the devs. Let me decide when to save and keep my save points like I always did since the '90s. Also, this has been aggravated by the fact that I played about one hour then logged off. When I returned to the game there was no autosave file to load and I had to start from zero. At that point I was just too infuriated and stopped playing altogether. Not sure I will touch the game ever again.

Oh boy, what a mess. The good: the art style is really cool. The photogrammetry is spectacular. I love the characters and their goofy animations (they don't have many, though). But you can see how underfunded the developers were. The locations aren't many and the backgrounds are kind of simple. Lots of rocks and other objects that don't take much to model, I guess. Everything screams, "cheap". Beautiful, though. Mechanically, it's kind of bad. There's no real inventory, just a reminder on "i" key (which is also not rebindable... seriously guys?) which means that sometimes you don't know exactly what you're carrying (due to no item description in the reminder) and it means no manual item combination, which happens automatically when you click on the puzzle spot. So, there are a few puzzles that are gonna be solved before you can even think about them. The puzzles are pretty much all "meh", quite simple but more than that they're just uninteresting. By the way... the telegram "puzzle". Are you **** serious? And here's the main point. Well, it's not true that there's no story, it starts interesting too, but it's heavily underdeveloped and fastworwarded a lot, leaving the player just assuming and filling the gaps by himself. The exposition and storytelling are atrocious and there are quite a lot of plot holes and unexplicable writing errors. It's also pretty short. I am absolutely sure they started with a way bigger idea and wanted to develop much more of the game's world (and the sanitarium is proof of this), but they ran out of cash much faster than they anticipated. The scene after the credits is pretty cool. Also the concert is kind of cool and sonds like a Tom Waits song, but it's way too long and unskippable.

No. Just no. Horrible. **** up control scheme on PC, unskippable cutscenes and you can't change options until you see all the damn prologue, dull combat, bad graphics and animations... I am a huge fan of Jump Ultimate Stars, I loved that game on DS. So, I had big expectations for this. And I am really disappointed. The game doesn't look so good and the combat is bland and generic. I miss the "comic creator" of JUS and its pure joyful fun. Why change something that worked so well? Most of all, the worst thing about this game on PC is that the keyboard controls are absolutely horrible. Are you kidding me Bandai?

Unruly Heroes7
Jan 26, 2019
Unruly Heroes takes the characters from the "Voyage to the West" and puts them in a fun action platform with a fantastic art style. It's good overall, but there are some downsides. First, the art style is amazing but the animations have a certain "made with flash" vibe that I personally find extremely offputting. The controls are good, but coming from Hollow Knight they're not as thight and responsive and they kinda feel heavy and sluggish. Sometimes you feel like you don't have full control on what your character is doing. The platforming is decent and the characters have lots of personality and their different moves are cool, but fighting sometimes feels kind of random due to the controls. The whole experience is a bit underwhelming and overall it's... just not that fun, I'm not even sure why, maybe it's due to the level design, but it's a shame.

What a shame, a potentially excellent game dragged down by nearsight. PoE would be nice if it wasn't so anachronistically obtuse. Apart the fact that it's way overcomplicated and unnecessarily punishing (things like no ah or that it has a such a huge and complex skill tree and so little respec possibilities), I stopped playing when I started receiving XP penalities for deaths. NOPE, that's the 90's. Not even the first Diablo had that. Play Grim Dawn instead.

Thimbleweed Park10

Thimbleweed Park is basically a sort of sequel to Maniac Mansion. Puzzles are all well thought and logical; not too easy and not super frustrating. And you always have something to do or something to check, so getting stumped is rare. The story and its delivery are fantastic. The characters are tons of fun. The mistery/humor mix is spot on (well, I like Ron's kind of humor). The whole writing is superb - except for the *really* excessive metatext, self-referentiality and the breaking of the fourth wall. It's way too much. This is its worst flaw. And if something like this is the worst flaw... well... This game is EXACTLY what I wanted to play in an adventure game. Hope Ron (and the rest of his team) keeps making games like this. Absolutely fantastic.

A really good metroidvania. Excellent pixel art graphics, plays well, the setting and story are interesting, the map is well designed and it's just overall fun to play. The cons: Don't like much the combat system (although the "orb mix" is a nice idea), the backstep is kinda unresponsive and sometimes is just better to get hit and keep going, instead of lose time fighting some annoying enemies. Bosses sadly are nothing special. Also, and this is the worst flaw, the "vanilla wow style" fetch quest are ATROCIOUS and a huge detriment on my enjoyement of the game. All things considered, it's a very good take on the metroidvania genre.

Amazing art style, fantastic narrative, witty writing and dialogues, great characters and setting. All of this game's outline is adorable. The problem is... it's not really a game. It plays itself, you just have to hold left or right, and click during dialogues. It's just a tale that you spectate. It's still a very enjoyable experience, but it's a shame there's not an actual game inside this beautiful package. It would have been a great P&C adventure.

It's a pretty good game... but could have been much more, story-wise. The plot twist at the end was super obvious since the beginning. A certain chracter motivation is... kinda weak. Nice puzzles, some are quite original (and confusing - I had to use a walkthrough for that damn "blue wharehouse" puzzle). I have a love/hate relationship with the art style. Hated it at first glance, I grew to really, really like it. It's original and pleasant. Animations are SO BAD though, and I hate that cheap flash-game vibe they have. The voiceover is quite good, these are some good actors. Oh, I also hate the interface, especially when selecting the multi-tool items. A very good P&C adventure.

This game is absolutely beautiful and need more exposition. It's amazing. It's not exactly a stealth game (the stealth mechanics are very basic and from a certain point you can totally ignore it) but more of an exploration/adventure game. And it's got a great story (although riding on a bit of a cliché - but it's extremely well done), amazing writing, fantastic set of characters and it's absolutely gorgeous. I want more of this whimsical world, I really hope there will be a sequel. Buy it, the developer(s) deserve all the praise and support.

Secret World Legends6
Oct 28, 2017
"Fantastic game. Not your typical MMO, it's a different approach on the classic formula. It's a very original, smart and imaginative game. The writing is fantastic and has some of the best character I've ever seen in a videogame, the story is great and the gameplay is pretty good, even if I liked the "old TSW" system more, this action approach is more responsive and feel smoother. Questing is the best ever seen in a videogame, period. The investigative type of missions, especially, are always extremely intelligent and original, and often require a great deal of thinking outside the box, they can be very hard to solve, too. The game does have some flaws, but still, it's the most interesting MMO out there, hands down. And it's not the usual carbon copy of WoW." This was my review for The Secret World. Too bad that with this relaunch they took one step forward and two step backwards. Combat is too simplicistic and lacks of TSW's build variety. P2W with best in slot gear inside RNG crates and bad business model overall. The wort offender is the itemization. Itemization is probably the side of this re-release that I hate the most. I am a lifetimer from TSW, played from day 1. When I stopped I had a "perfect" DPS build with all the BiS items (minus some signets and augments) and was working on my tank & healer builds. It has been a lot of work getting to that point, but I was getting there. I saw the goal at the end of the road. Here? Not so much. I don't see the goal at the end of the road. I see only frustration. I quickly realized there is no way I will be able to get to my desired build. Talismans are not a big deal, they're neither that rare or super expensive in the AH. But weapons? Here's where the problem lies. My weapon of choice is locked into the old loot crates. I've opened a crate a day for almost every day now and never got a weapon. Chance of weapon+chance of right weapon+chance of right affix=IMPOSSIBLE ODDS. Buying it from the AH is also impossible, first of all they're incredibly expensive due to their rareness, and secondly... I've checked the AH every day for months and never seen the weapon I want with the affix I want. This is P2W at its worst. Said so... the story, the lore, the background, the missions, the characters and the writing are all FANTASTIC. If you wanto to play it as if was a single player game and ONLY enjoy the story, it's great. Just avoid the horrible "end game" and the insane gear grind.

This game is artistically incredible. It takes its art direction from the old '20s Disney cartoons. Everything is beautiful and incredibly well animated. Drawings, colors, effects... everything is perfect. Music is fantastic too. It's a pleasure to behold. It's also very fun to play. It's mostly based on boss battles, but there are some classic platform levels. Controls are thight and responsive (playing with keyboard) and, while the game is VERY hard, it never gets frustrating. Absolutely fantastic game.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun9
Jun 29, 2017
Amazing stealth game that loosely follows the footsteps of Commandos. I've read some extemely positive reviews before buying it, but I didn't think it would have been *so* good. It's well written, has great characters (I kinda hope to see the cast in some other game) and great dialogues. The setting is feudal Japan, it's quite original, fresh and always interesting. The stealth mechanics are near perfect, and the character abilities are amazing and all of them have a place in the game and are fun to use. The mission design is great, with every mission adding something new and fresh to keep the interest up. On the challenge level, it's always pretty hard but never frustrating. The UI is an absolute gem: simple, stilish, practical. Doesn't end up in the way of the gameplay. Only issues with it it's that the "shadow mode" is not a great addition. A tactical pause would have been way better. Only real flaw is that sometimes, as someone else pointed out, the game is more of a puzzle game than a stealth game: you have to guess the exact way the developers thought to pass some zones, and that can be annoying and may deter from the sense of freedom. Even a split second more (I'm not exagerating) would have made a huge (positive) difference in certain situations. To sum it up: Amazing game that deserves all the praise it's getting.
