Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is an impressively remastered version of what was originally a PSP game—the visuals look great, while the gameplay is perfectly fine. My main issue was the overwhelming number of optional missions, which initially made me feel like I had to complete everything before progressing the main story. After spending a long time doing missions that seemed endless, I realized they were not necessary and only made the experience feel unnecessarily dragged out. The story itself was enjoyable and answered many of the questions I had about Zack and the wider FFVII story. If you're playing mainly for the story, I would recommend doing just a few optional missions and focusing on the main campaign instead. In hindsight, I may have simply expected something grander from a game whose core design was originally built around the more arcade-like structure of a PSP title.

Ghost of Tsushima is an extremely beautiful game, with stunning environments and graphics that were also very well optimized for my rig. The gameplay loop is solid, but the Japanese dub felt a bit unnatural to me due to the very short pauses between dialogue lines, which made immersion difficult. I also felt that the many separate questlines sometimes distracted me from the main story and caused me to gradually lose motivation to continue.

This game has an intriguing world and overarching narrative that I genuinely want to see through. However, while the larger story has kept my curiosity, the characters have yet to leave a strong impression on me, making it difficult to feel emotionally invested in the journey. More importantly, the gameplay loop has gradually started to feel like a chore rather than something I look forward to. At this point, my interest in the story alone isn't enough to overcome the friction of actually playing the game. For now, I'm putting it aside rather than forcing myself to continue, perhaps with time and a fresh perspective, its gameplay loop may eventually click with me.

Overall, I get the main idea and vibe of the game, but I’m just not really feeling it. Maybe the pacing is too tight, which makes it hard for the player to fully grasp what’s going on and follow the character’s situation. Gameplay-wise, I think it’s great. I love the flashy, DMC-style combat. But I feel like it could lean more into RPG elements. Right now, items don’t really have any strategic impact — it’s basically just about picking the weapon with the higher stats.
