Valve has once again fundamentally changed the way games are designed and played. Flat-screen FPS games are no longer the best way to experience a story; VR is. While I'm playing I get fully enveloped in the world. The gameplay is revolutionary, the story is awesome & weird, the level of graphical fidelity and world intractability have never been seen before in a videogame. Half-Life is back and better than ever. Thank you, Valve. Comments are disabled for this review.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst

These user reviews are hilariously unbalanced. DO NOT listen to ANYONE that gives this game a rating below 6/10. They are lying. The game is not that bad. Mirror's Edge Catalyst doesn't deserve a 6, let alone a 1. Catalyst is basically the first game but better. Actual movement is A LOT smoother and isn't nearly as clunky, its no longer linear (open world) which gives it even MORE replay value than the first game had, user-created time trials so you have an infinite number of them, better characters, arguably better story (although the story is still iffy.) The movement is definitely the games best point. Again, its like the first game but smoother. Faith doesn't randomly lose her momentum anymore. She doesn't fail to grab stuff anymore. She doesn't perform wrong moves anymore. She doesn't vault over stuff you want to climb up on anymore. It's fantastic. You get a sense of smoothness you don't get much in the original game. Combine the almost perfect movement with the open world, and you get a giant playground. People seem to be missing the point of the open world. It's for parkour. Even if the open world doesn't have a ton of fleshed out content, there's still PARKOUR to do. And that's all I really wanted. More parkour. More areas to perfect, places to explore using parkour. And this game gave it to me. The social features are also great and go hand in hand with the open world. It's so easy to make your own Time Trial's, and thanks to the open world, there's a lot of places to do it. Time Trial's you make show up in other player's worlds. There's markers (Beat L.E's) that you can place to mark locations and show up in other player's world's. Maybe put one in a hard to reach place, maybe mark an easter egg, maybe put one on top of a high up spot (because I love jump puzzles.) You can look at how many players have touched a marker. There are "hackable" billboards, where when you hack them, your runner tag shows up on that same billboard in a friends world. You usually need to do a jump puzzle to get to billboards, and again, I love jump puzzles.

This game is so poorly made, and somehow addicting at the same time, its had an actual negative impact on my life. Seriously. Minecraft is the only game that has made me legitimately angry with how bad it is. It has so much potential, but the developers have zero idea what to do with it.

Everything about this game is mediocre. The gameplay, the amount of new content, the graphics. Everything. The gameplay is broken and boring. There is no skill involved whatsoever. There are no special tactics or anything. You either turn left or turn right. You either fire first or you don't. You either get a headshot or you don't. Speaking of headshots, it's completely random where your bullets go, as the recoil is horribly designed. Even if your crosshair is perfectly centered on someone, even if they aren't moving, even if you aren't moving, even if there isn't ANY reason for you to miss, your bullet DODGES a foot to the left, right, or ANYWHERE you weren't aiming. Good gosh, I found I got more headshots by aiming at a person's CHEST than actually aiming at their HEAD. THIS MAKES NO SENSE. There is a serious lack of new content. It's basically a modded CS:S. There is only a handful of new weapons and maps. And now, the graphics. The graphics are simply terrible. The game looks 10 years old. The animations look stupid, the textures are low-res, and the lighting, oh the terrible lighting; all the maps look completely dull because of it. Almost all shadows have the same boring shade of grey. It's as if someone forgot to add proper lighting to most areas. Maps like cs_militia arguably look worse than they did in CS:S, back in 2004. The sound design is odd. For some reason, they've mixed the low quality weapon sounds from the previous games with new, high quality sounds. The result does not sound realistic, or appealing. The 'having your knife out makes you run faster' thing is really stupid. Oh, and one last thing: Why is there an in-game marketplace where you can spend REAL MONEY on weapon skins? Are you telling me they spent time on making cosmetic items so that they could charge cash for them, instead of, oh I don't know, making a decent game? There are items that cost hundreds of dollars, They don't even do anything to affect gameplay, they're just for looks. This is not a F2P game. It costs $15, and they seriously charge extra money for lame weapon skins. Despite the above, the game can (sometimes) still be fun. It's just an overall mediocre game. It really isn't worth $15, so wait for a sale if you buy it at all.

I kept putting off buying this, but an awesome person gifted it to me, so I finally got around to playing it. So yeah, after finishing it I had to leave a positive review. It would be a crime not to. The way your choices affect everything is done extremely well, there's a good plot, and great characters. A game has never gotten me emotionally involved like this. The characters and choice system combine to make everything feel realistic and personal. I legitimately teared up at some parts. No shame, that's amazing. A fictional story has never done that to me before. If you're remotely a fan of narrative driven games, you HAVE to play this. I know I regret not playing it sooner.

This game used to be good. From it's launch till 2011 it was good. But then Valve decided to mess the whole thing up. It went from a fantastic fun online shooter, to a worthless, incohesive cluster of junk. Now instead of a fun online shooter, it is just another pathetic 'Free to Play' cashgrab that revolves around virtual items that cost real money. Speaking of the virtual items, the balancing on most of the weapons is off, and all of the costumes look ridiculous/don't go with the games initial theme at ALL. The game used to have a fantastic & unique cartoony style, but that is now overshadowed with absurd cosmetics/items. They seriously added a My Little Pony hat! Come on, who thought that would be a good idea? I can't remember the last time they released a half decent update. Actually, nevermind that. I do remember. It was the Engineer Update...BACK IN 2010! And to top it all off, the game has gotten stupidly buggy. I remember when it was almost polished to perfection, barely any bugs at all. This used to be one of my favorite games of all time. But now whenever I see it, I cringe. This game has become cringe worthy. Team Fortress 2 has lost ALL of its soul. This isn't TF2. TF2 doesn't exist anymore. It was replaced by...whatever THIS garbage is. Also Meet the Pyro was awful. One of the most interesting classes in the game and they didn't even make a decent video for him.

This game USED to be fantastic; one of the best games ever made. But then the Garry's Mod 13 update utterly ruined every aspect of the game! Saves are broken, loading times are way too long, the Workshop is blatantly worse than its predecessors (**** & Toybox,) the UI is downright ugly, its so badly optimized even some HIGH-END PCs can have trouble running it, for a while there was an exploit that allowed your computer to become infected with a virus via Gmod servers, even BASIC features like the Inflator Tool don't work properly anymore. And don't expect the game to get decent bugfixes any time soon; the developers are slooow. The games functionality isn't the only thing that has become awful over the years; the Gmod community itself has become one of the worst communities I've seen in gaming. You will rarely find a friendly/smart person in it anymore. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. It is only a shell of what it used to be. Also garry supports paid mods. So there's that.

Insurgency is the best tactical shooter TO DATE. The gameplay is perfect. Everything feels like it should. Its intense, well paced and is just loads of fun. Its well balanced, nothing feels unfair or cheap, if you die, it was probably your fault. The gunplay is realistic and just feels right. The maps are well layed out and don't give one team an advantage over the other. Your loadout is fully customizable; from what type of vest you want, all the way down to what gun you want and what attachments you want for that specific gun. Yes, you get to customize your weapon attachments. The game has a good amount of content to offer. There are plenty of gamemodes (including co-op if you don't like PvP,) plenty of maps, and plenty of classes/loadouts. They're still adding stuff, by the way. The sound design is FLAWLESS. I mean like wow, this is Battlefield-esque sound design. The graphics, while looking pretty outdated at times, are some of the best I've seen on the Source engine. TL;DR: Insurgency puts Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to shame.

Black Mesa is the Source remake of Half-Life we've always wanted. It (almost) has the same amount of polish an official Valve game would have. The only reason I don't give it a perfect 10/10 is because the AI is pretty bad. The soldier AI is especially horrible. However, this will likely be fixed in the full Steam release. So I'll raise my score when that comes out. Sadly, Xen is missing entirely. We'll just have to be patient, and wait for the full release on Steam. The developers are also working on multiplayer, which is awesome.

This is simply the best game ever made. 10 years after release, and no other game has surpassed it yet. The atmosphere, characters and Source engine were all, putting it mildly, revolutionary at the time. They all still hold up well today. Not to mention it CHANGED THE GAMING INDUSTRY, even more so than Half-Life 1 did. Think about it. Without HL2, Steam would probably be dead, in which case thousands of indie games would've never been made, let alone gain as much popularity, forcing all those indie developers to stop making games. Without HL2, Valve probably wouldn't have made their other masterpieces (Portal, TF2, L4D, etc.) Without HL2, and its amazing mod support, we wouldn't have gotten the best modding community ever in gaming. There are too many good things to say about Half-Life 2, so I'll make a long review short: Buy it. Buy it now. Just make sure you play Half-Life 1 beforehand obviously.
