Skullgirls: 2nd Encore9
Jul 26, 2017
Think of all the amazing things, that all of the best fighting games have done at one point or another... And then! Add a diverse list of characters(with a tremendous amount of costume swatches), a rich story line, an incredibly in-depth tutorial for each character, and super fun, mid-to-fast paced combat system. That is Skullgirls. So you understand how good this game is... You can't accidentally hit the pause button. While you are playing, you have to hold the button down before it confirms and pulls up the menu. That is so simple and amazing that it seems ridiculous that it isn't in every fighting game ever. What that means: Pacing in the match is never shut down because someone panicked, started button mashing, and BLAM... Timing's **** Easy to pickup, difficult to master. Why a 9? There is room for improvement when it comes to online matchmaking. On the PS4 at least, it can be a bit buggy and crash the game every 1 out of 8 times or so.

This game is just pure mayhem and fun. I love the idea of getting to create the landscape that you traverse with others in real time. The characters are fun, the learning curve isn't steep whatsoever so it's a lot of fun to play knowing all skill types will have a good time playing. The level design is usually pretty simple, but overall neat. I recommend this game wholeheartedly, especially to anyone looking for a fun party game that can appeal to a large crowd.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - New 'n' Tasty10

This game is the JAM! It takes an already fun/challenging game and bumps the graphics and performance way up. I played this game to death when I was kid and I'm pumped that I get to do the same now.

Visually, this game is charming and whimsically beautiful. The game-play is compelling, you want to explore these heads and their space; to touch all of the moving parts and to see what the reaction is. I'd like to see harder puzzles and more content. The game only took an hour to beat which is disappointing because I was hoping for a ramp-ing degree of difficulty. They also could have added levels to the game or more heads to add content, overall a pretty short game even.

It looks really nice, but everybody saying it's "visually beautiful" or a "graphic masterpiece" is ridiculous. It looks nice, but this game is incredibly boring. The story wasn't great nor compelling; you don't care what happens when you are playing because it doesn't make you. The loooong cut-scenes, forced conversations where "all actions are disabled" slow down the already SLOW pacing of this game, and for something that is so nice to look at, they sure don't let you see much of it. You spend most of your time in sewers or tight quarters on your exceptionally linear path. I won't ruin the ending, but it's just as lame as one could anticipate.
