Just finished this. 7.2 User score as of August 15 2021 is criminally underrated. There are some legitimate major issues with this game, for example, the lack of ability to save (although you can put your system to sleep, which is what I did) could be a problem or some people. The story telling, gameplay and combat, items, upgrades, permanent upgrade progression are on point. As this game does not have a story mode as of today, the difficulty of this game could be a major drawback. Many of the great things about this game might not be experienced due to its unforgiving nature. But the thing is, although it has a fairly high difficulty, as you learn the game you will find that, similar to most rogue lite games, it becomes substantially easier once you know how the enemies and weapons act, what the different upgrades do and so on. Don't buy this if you break your controllers while playing games, PS5 controllers are expensive. The price point is controversial, I would argue it represents its genre fairly well for that amount of money compared with the other PS5 full price exclusives. I don't want you to go away with the impression that I am defending this game because I am overcompensating because I paid a lot for it. This is not the case. I am happy to admit that I was a **** tonne of money on expensive games that I end up hating. I don't know what happened in the story after playing the game. Similar to when I played Bloodbourne, I have had to read up about what the hell happened. Even then, nobody seems to know; there are many different theories and a consensus is lacking right now; hopefully this will be addressed in a sequel or DLC... or perhaps hopefully not (thinking the movie 'Cube'). This game deserves at least an 8, and I would argue for closer to 9, regardless of the fact that many of the complaints are legitimate. As one of my favourite games of all time, I have given it a real 10, and not just a 'I'm mad about everyone giving it low votes, so I'm going to give it a compensatory 10'. I would recommend it to anyone who likes the rogue lite genre and who owns a PS5.
Hooo boy, here we go. So this game is fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who (1) loves great story telling (2) loves great graphics and (3) can deal with zombies and jump scares. I don't recommend this game to people who feel emasculated by the fact that the main character in this story is a lesbian—it is a shame that the rage of these people has tanked the user score of this game.
Yeah, I mean, this is one of the best looking games for Switch so far, and is fun as hell. It's the first one that is really taking me back to the gamecube/N64 days in my mind (more so than Mario Odyssey did). Enjoy!
What did you want? The game is fun and is successful in bringing back the glory days of Banjo Kazooie to me. The organised down voting is hilarious; just look at the ratio of positive to negative reviews on steam 25:4 (14% negative) approximately compared to 25:13 (34% negative) on here. Correcting for the racially motivated voters gives an as-of-now user score of 8.3. If you are sat there stewing because certain racist scum was not included you should know that you have statistically lower intelligence than people who agree that racist morons shouldn't be cast in the game. If you enjoyed Banjo Kazooie and want to be reminded of your youthful days you will likely enjoy this. The music is amazing. The graphics and "feel" are very close to what I hoped. It is running smoothly for me. You remember all the bad publicity about loud sound effects in videos before release? Just to clarify if it isn't apparent; you can control the volume level of sound effects. Many people reviewed this game before it was even released citing bad performance. There was a day one patch that made this game run perfectly fine for me on both PC and PS4.
Be warned! Although this game seems fun so far I noticed a very suspicious pattern with user scores. The game was sat around 73, and all of a sudden hundreds of almost simultaneous votes of 10 accompanied by hundreds of first time reviewers came in, the game has pushed up towards 8. Paid for reviews; Metacritic, you have to do something about this, there is precedent for false reviewers to be sued.
This is addictive. I need to keep my self control; I felt like snapping my 3DS pen, and I jabbed at the screen a couple of times. However, like an authentic gambling addict, when I'm winning I love this! My partner also loves the idea that we can share and breed horses, we have not done that yet but it seems cute. To me this game is a 9 or a 10. I went with 9 because of the chance I might break my 3DS at some point in the near future. Finally I feel like the price point for this game is tipped in the consumers favour for once.
