Fun simulation game, but it's definitely a few bug fixes away from a solid recommendation at the moment. A couple bugs I encountered today: I accidentally dropped an item during the tutorial and it clipped out of bounds, soft locking the game. Using the reflex hammer regularly ragdolls survivors. Additionally, the UI needs some help, as it feels a little clunky. I do see the potential here though, and I'm looking forward to trying it again as new updates roll out.
I genuinely believe this is one of the best video games of all time. My only complaint is that I wish the main story bosses were a little more difficult, as even on expert difficulty with a intentionally sub-optimal character builds, I found them to be quite easy. This is especially true for the Act 3 story bosses. However, that truly is the only critical thing I can say about the game. It's an absolute masterpiece. Sandfall Interactive created a work of art here. The characters are written in a way that you can't help but fall in love with all of them. The art and world-building are done to perfection. The music is beautiful, intense, and emotional in all the right ways. I would recommend this game to literally everyone, I wish I could give a higher rating than 10. However, that truly is the
Criminally under-appreciated game. OverBorder studio (which is a team of only 7 people, to the best of my knowledge) made a game who's biggest flaw was that I just wish there was more of it. It's not perfect, sure. But the music, atmosphere, and gameplay make for a truly enjoyable souls-like experience. Towards the end, I was a little disappointed with enemy variety. I think they probably needed a couple more tough later game enemies. Additionally, I was begging for one or two more unique and challenging bosses by the end. The Odur fight at the beginning is notoriously challenging, but I absolutely LOVED it. It was incredibly satisfying to learn the timings and movements of his combos. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the following bosses are nearly as good as that first one, but they're still all pretty respectable. TLDR, great game, wish there was a little more content.
I absolutely loved this game! I downloaded it this morning because I had a day off and nothing to do. Wound up beating the game in one sitting, idk if I even took a bathroom break. My biggest issue with Moonscars was lack of enemy variety. Towards the end of the game, the standard enemies were starting to feel like they'd overstayed their welcome a bit. Fortunately, the game is short enough that I didn't reach a point where I was ever truly bothered by it though. Aside from that though, I pretty much have only good things to say. I loved the music, the story, the art, the combat.... Basically everything. I'm really glad I gave the game a chance. I won't say it's my favorite game of all time, but I would absolutely recommend it to fans of the souls-like/metroidvania genre.
This game is wonderful. I was unsure about it at first, but the more time I spend with it the more I enjoy it. The art is great, the music is captivating, and the gameplay is fluid and entertaining. Would definitely recommend. That being said, there are a couple difficulty spikes that may throw off more casual players. But as someone who likes a challenge, that only makes me appreciate this game more.
I'd rather play **** barbie dress-up than have to endure this story. I'll give it a 1 for gameplay and graphics. Otherwise, this game can screw all the way off.
Is this game Elden Ring? No. Is it a love letter to Fromsoft from an Indie Studio in all the right ways? Absolutely. It looks beautiful, plays wonderfully, and just feels great. It's absolutely worth a play, and I hope we get more like this in the future. Honestly, my biggest complaint about this game is that there isn't more of it. You can see the love the creators put into each area, and I think with a larger budget, these games could rival some of the greats.
Feels like blasphemous and dead cells had a slightly above average child. The gameplay is entertaining and the boss/area designs are nice. The smaller enemies have enough variety to not feel old, and the different weapons feel unique and fun to switch between. The controls take a little getting used to, but I definitely didn't find them bad enough to dock points from this rating. The atmosphere is gritty and fun, and the music is decent as well. I don't love the instant death pits, but after years of souls-like experience, I'm quite used to gravity being the real final boss. Is it the best ever, most unique, one of a kind, amazing experience that you must have? No. Is it fun and worth a play? Sure.
What can I say? It was 2D Dark Souls with fun bosses, cool areas, and a handful of interesting unique takes on the genre. It's not a perfect game, but it does enough good things to warrant a solid 9/10 from me. Definitely worth a play!
This game is wonderful. The music is fantastic, the art is beautiful, the story is heartfelt, and the game itself is just amazing to play. I can't say enough good things about this masterpiece.
This is the best metroidvania you've never played. Amazing story, beautiful visuals, and an amazing soundtrack. Honestly, I cannot recommend this enough!
