Less "Taken" and more "Taken 3". Mr. Odenkirk does his best, and the rest of the family cast are adequate. Colin Hanks is solid as one of the antagonists. Rza, love him as I do was only OK, and just basically plays the RZA somehow getting to cosplay his life long Wu-Tang dream of becoming a Ninja. The person who absolutely ruins the film is Sharon Stone. As the primary antagonist, Mrs. Stone completely failed to carry her weight and seemed to be trying to channel some sort of Nick Cage energy. She fails MISERABLY. Some really crappy non-Odenkirk dialog in this film as well.

Better than expected and my expectations were pretty high. Ralph Fiennes was given too little screen time, but was wonderful. Surprisingly heartfelt at times. Recommended.

Captain America: Brave New World4

Not as bad as some have said, but certainly not good. High points are Mackie, who does the best he can with what he's given, and of course, the red hulk. The CGI on red hulk was actually pretty darn good. The rest of the film was forgettable to bad. Some of the dialog itself was absolutely inane. The scene where Cap meets up with the president after the initial attack has some of the most ridiculous word salad I've heard in a while.

"Did you ever feel like the big secret is we are Gods? We create Life!" After watching this? It's have to be a pretty big secret. Or if you're Gods? You're the one below.

Fun CGI. Plenty of things that don't make sense from a physics standpoint. I'm not sold on Mr. Powell yet. He's pretty, I get it. Acting ****.

I don't understand the low ratings. This has decent acting, good action sequences and some clever writing / jokes. Casey Affleck is hilarious in this!

It is all so very **** d*mn is it fun! Plenty of fan service, and inappropriate jokes galore. It's like if they made a South Park MCU movie.

I had heard that this film was a "return to form" and "super fun". Don't you believe it. Martin Lawrence seems to have some real medical issues, often slurring his speech. Will Smith needs to lay off the spray paint hair. You're going bald **** it. Flat, one-dimensional baddies who appear to be bad for...funsies I guess?

Brilliantly shot, directed and acted. Too bad this is (basically) a true story. Leo and Lily are phenomenal, with Lily (arguably) stealing the show. This is not a feel good movie, despite the modicum of justice served at the end.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga9

I don't fully understand why folks aren't flocking to see this. This is masterful film making. Admittedly, it is a grim / dark film overall, but it is no less of an accomplishment than Fury Road. The use of multiple (?) actresses playing Furiosa before finally settling into Anya Taylor Joy helped with the suspension of disbelief and the replacement of Charliz Theron.

Civil War8

Tense, well acted and disturbing. The film IS frustrating as it makes no attempt to explain which warring parties are aligned with what ideology, what started it all, what was/is the sequence of events etc. This is INTENTIONAL. The point being (IMHO) that none of the aforementioned things really matter in the face of such barbarism. If we don't do better, this is the result, and that is EXACTLY the point. An effective cautionary tail. Especially by Hollywood standards.

LESS than the some of it's parts. Some solid actors in this one, but they are given very little to work with. I'm impressed that Kevin Hart managed to get Netflix to pay for him and a bunch of buddies to go on a luxurious European vacation. This appears to be what they pinched out to justify said expense. I assure you it does not. When you consider the ever increasing costs of streaming, movies like this seem even more egregious.

The film has some moments of effective humor, and genuine chemistry between the leads. However, the filming and editing feel sub par. There is also some heavy leaning on racial stereotypes that is NOT made OK by the fact that the characters themselves are of the same race. It's nice to see minority women in lead roles. The fact that the movie itself is just OK is a bit of a let down.

A two is generous. I like Mr. Foxx in most roles, but this film is absurdly terrible. I know they were going for something over the top, but the dialog and and delivery from all those involved was bottom of the barrel.

A heart warming story about (what appears to be) a genuinely good person(s). However, the dialog alone drags the film below the 5 threshold. A safe film for watching with your kids. About as edgy as store brand Vanilla ice cream. Oh, and Dennis Quaid is in it. Why? Because of course he is.
