Blood & Truth6
Aug 27, 2020
Blood and Truth is one of the best PSVR titles, certainly one of the best visually. Let down by no co-operative play or free movement. The story is solid, voice acting and characters are compelling. the environments are pretty and meets all the expectations you would have of a first party game on PSVR. Interesting it uses nVidia tech on a PS4 titles (AMD based console). No support for the Aim controller in the story, only in shooting galleries, is a let down. Costs too much... it's still a 5 hour? game, Blood and Truth could have sustained 10 hours of story and play time at least. All PSVR titles need to be on Psnow day and date.

Pistol Whip5
Aug 27, 2020
Are you REALLY that sick of Beat Saber yet? Pistol whip is pretty fun, the graphics are highly stylized, mostly to allow high frame rates. It doesn't have anything "new" after the first few levels, in my case I didn't find myself going back for more than 4 or 5 plays. I'm putting this on every PSVR review: All PSVR titles need to be on PSNow

Bravo Team7
Aug 27, 2020
i came to Bravo Team with an Aim controller, and a friend at the other end in VR (also with an Aim). Bravo Team is pretty good, runs a lot better than Supermassives Man Of Medan. This game is tight, gunplay is good, very good as far as PSVR goes. Does NOT have free movement locomotion. MUST be played with a real friend online. Is 2 hours to complete, with only player choices in direction in the last chapters. Graphically is pretty reasonable for PSVR, the tight environments allows for better area textures. PSnow needs to just incorporate every VR title.

Marvel's Iron Man VR4
Aug 27, 2020
I finished Iron Man VR. It IS fun There's an issue here, what passes in VR would NEVER get a pass in 2D. So compared, only VR to VR, and really only within its pool of PSVR only. So, the most obvious horrific problem with Iron Man VR is load times and black screens. Load times in the minutes in duration, each, on PS4Pro. Every location transition, every room, huge load times, often followed by, load times. The levels are barely longer than the load times. The graphics are, ok. This is NOT the game that sells PSVR or brings people back to it. This late in PSVR life and this is it? After finishing this, I feel maybe PSVR is in more trouble than I thought. The story is quite fun, but very, very predictable. Major pop-in and frame rate drops. Even screen tearing! This is NO Half Life Alyx challenger. I wonder how many PC VR headsets were sold to PSVR fans wanting better?? Update: 28/8/20 They updated the Load times.. it appears now, you get faster load indicators, longer black screens with nothing. I also put the game onto a USB3 connect NVME drive.

Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series3
Aug 27, 2020
Vader Immortal, $40.95aud from PSN (for 3 episodes). I've completed Ep 1 and 2. Episode 1 was, maybe a bit over an hour, episode 2 was shorter. You have "Vader Dojo" (where the trophies are, there is no Platinum) but the dojo is pretty cheap and nasty. Story is fine, voice acting is fine. Visuals, if you play PSVR, you already know. Heaps of aliasing, nice enough character models, flat, barely textured environments. No character body, just hands. Light sabers glow, but do not cast convincing light or shadows. The game has frame hiccups and audio bugs. It's so short it doesn't hurt your eyes, but it's so short that's inexcusable. Tracking could be better, although I might have a dud move controller. It has been ported from Oculus which has very different tracking. It's had some of the worst issues of losing me in tracking. I play in a dark room, I have the ceiling cable hooks, camera is mounted to a highly adjustable camera tripod. Does not ask for a Facebook account, despite being Oculus branded throughout. Simply not worth the buy price. If nothing else, PSnow needs to come to Australia and every VR title needs to be on it. Has merit for any Star Wars Super Fan that will buy any Star Wars stuff at any price.

Edit: Ok, like Crackdown 3 and all its bad reviews, this game is FUN. It's still the same open world formula you have played so much, clear the regions on the maps. GTA, Farcry, Watchdogs, Ghost Recon, Assassins Creed, Saints Row, Mad Max, Just Cause.... But, the Boss fights stand it aside from those games. It's way more than 10 hours of story. Played on Xbox One X. I really hoped this looked like the game in the previews, it's not. It looks worse than Generation Zero. The graphics in the world are often missing HD textures, woeful pop in, bad draw distance errors. Missmatched lighting, weird shadows. The ID software Fire and Doomesque Baddies look out of place, (but good) The cars are lifted from Avalanches Mad Max. The voice acting is good, but completely forgetable and cliched. The gun models are nice, looks like Doom. Overall the game "looks like a 360 game", more than any other accused of this so far (looking at you Crackdown 3). I enjoyed Mad Max, Just Cause 3, the first 10 hours of Gen Zero.... but Rage 2 is a weird one. This looks like the basics of this game were crafted as a sequel for Rage in 2011 for last gen.... or.. it's some other game changed to be Rage 2 later, was this Mad Max 2 in development? It's fun, I don't know if i'll finish it or refund it, and, WTF it looks nothing like the previews.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild9
Apr 26, 2019
This is the VR review. Yep, it's 720p. Yep, it's low frame rate. Yep, you hold the Labo VR to your head and it hurts after 30mins. Also, play sitting down, it's nasty for motion sickness. But.. wow.. the fact it works, the fact it costs next to nothing. Don't believe reviews putting down Zelda Breath of The Wild VR, the developers have managed the impossible and given it to your for free.

Apr 26, 2019
The same over trodden open world mechanics Now with more Zombies! Days Gone is fine, it's quite good at times, but you have already played this game 4 or 5 times, possibly in the 4 months of 2019. The disappointment is the hugely polished games Sony has pushed out prior to this, poor Days Gone has unattainable levels to match.

Generation Zero5
Mar 27, 2019
Played on Xbox One X. Don't make excuses for the developers, they know what was launched here. In the first 12 seconds you know something is very wrong with this game. The first light post has a disastrous issue with how it lights up. Visually it has eyeball killing motion blur you can't turn off. The graphics in this game are not nostalgic, they are unforgivably dated. Some of the graphics are just not finished, fences in mid air with no fence posts... etc. My guess this game was developed years ago (to compete with State Of Decay 1), cancelled, but then fast tracked and launched into a quiet window after Anthem and Fallout 76 performed badly, and ANY game would compete. The fast tracking means not creating more environmental art, just copy + pasting what already existed well beyond what is acceptible. Anyone saying Crackdown 3 has 360 graphics, you have a genuine "360 graphics" right here. Was this game developed for PSVR, sure looks like it? With its 4 player co-op, it would go from being very average to quite well recieved on VR. So, despite this... it's fun. It's scary that this is better than Fallout 76. And priced better, but wait until it's on Gamepass. Soundtrack is good too. To mitigate the motion blur I found a field of view set to 60 is better. Day night and weather effects are good.

Crackdown 310
Feb 15, 2019
This game does one thing really well.. it shows the failings of Metacritic. 0/10? ok... worse than Fallout 76, a broken cash in? This fun has real genuine co-op multiplayer fun, something sorely missing with the rise of battle royale. "ps2/360 graphics"... ok quick, change you Fortnite/overwatch reviews to zero... It looks as good if not better than those games. Fortnite has no HDR to mention. Digital Foundry agrees with me. Ok I get it, more or less 100million PS4 players. Stop review bombing Crackdown and got back to "All our exclusives".

This is a pretty enough looking game. It doesn't offer much new in this genre. The game almost deliberately sets itself up for you to NOT play it. 2 REAL days for watermelons to mature? So.. water your plants and turn the game off. IF you really need a time waster, Bloons TD5 is probably better.

Feb 11, 2019
Look, this is a really engaging dramatic cartoon, with lovely art style, pretty good story writing. As a game.. it's not on par with it's predecessors. Also it's a LOT more buggy, (Played on Xbox One X). I get Sean Floating and not animating, in cut scenes.. it also crashes to dashboard. I don't have any issue with the racism agenda setting as I'm neither American or Mexican. I am curious how this will tie into the previous games, and I enjoy it's link to captain Spirit.

Kingdom Hearts III1
Feb 11, 2019
Terrible Voice direction, with actors reading straight from queue cards with no understanding or interest in the context of the Characters words. Incomprehensible and unengaging story line. Graphics and animation is nice, maybe also try Skylanders and Starlink if this is your taste. The fighting is "press A rapidly until you win". The larger maps spaces are empty in reality. You can tell the visually impressive set pieces were created at a very different time to lots of other parts of the game.. it's fractured development is blatantly obvious. this game is only for KH fans.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey6
Dec 10, 2018
It's big.. too big? Kassandra is good, Alexios voice acting is laughable. The game is superbly pretty, the HDR is fantastic. The direction and stories are mostly excellent. There's a lot of "Assassin" missing here.. maybe they need to rename the series? "Fighters Creed". This game has a story progress bug that breaks the game, Ubisoft is aware of it, with no fix. (Catching Up Bug). I stopped this game after quite a lot of hours to then complete Red Dead 2, I expected going back to it, I would dislike it.. but I enjoyed it MORE after the slow pace of RDR2. Ubisoft need to patch this game.. but it's too late now.. There's a lot of content here, even without micro transactions and DLC.

Dec 10, 2018
Ok so... yeah the 9/10 is because the voice acting, story, direction, art composition is second to none. And those people that worked on this game, deserve the accolades they are getting, should have been Game of the Year. Here's the negative: during story sections, the game changes it's "rules" mid game, you can then no longer snipe to a distance, or do things your way, it's ONLY the way the game allows it, or you fail.. and there's not always a prompt on what it desperately wants you to do.. it breaks the flow and pulls you out of the moment.

Aug 12, 2018
I had this game in the preview, Which was an empty shell with limited game mechanics. They should have NOT had the game preview. The game's main release date competition is No Mans Sky, and the 2 games are surprisingly similar... Lots of gathering and crafting. WHF has some interesting and compelling story stuff that is FAR more engaging than anything NMS has to offer. We happy few is a good fun game, but it won't compete with much bigger titles due very soon.

So much hype, so much push, so many MS executives playing this, exclaiming how good it was. The Beta was empty, the finished game is empty. In Australia, the (frequent) Server down times are exactly when you would expect to play it (about 7pm). It's great that it's on Game Pass, but I'll return when it has actual content. How was this game released in the state it is in? You can't "create your own fun" when there's 4 very bland things you can do in it. The community is NEVER nice and will immediately sink your ship and steal your things, probably because they are excited there's actually something that resembles a game. They tried so hard to "not be like Elder Scrolls online" they didn't make a game.

We all know this game has unforgivable technical faults, considering it's the 4th instalment in a series, running on much better hardware than the previous games. I picked this up and started playing more recently, commencing after some of the patches. (I did play the preview hours last month). The game is undeniably fun. The graphics work well presenting great vistas, just the animations are poor at times. The dialogue choices can often feel like there's no distinction between two opposite paths. The open world "go to point A then B" is falling into the Ubisoft "Map or markers" trap. All that said, the game is engaging and the Sci Fi plot, although clichéd is very fun.

So I am coming to this game late, no doubt after any patches that got released. I found the controls to be 'tight' and just right, and no severe glitches. So I suspect there was a fair few post release patches. This game cost me $9au, a bargain. I found it really genuinely fun, and conquering timed jump sequences leaving you with satisfaction. My 6 year old son is willing to try and try and the puzzles, something he'd avoid in other games. I never had early consoles thus I never played metroid and other games it's based on. To me, the parkour play was more engaging than the current Tomb Raider titles. The art style is just too derivative of other titles. It IS inexcusable that this game appears to be incomplete.

This was pretty cheap DLC when I compare it to hours of use. I've demolished and reconstructed my entire main settlement to accommodate a caged animal battle arena. Look this game is obviously a must have on Xbox One, a game that was hyped since the reveal of the xbox one itself. Fighting is solid, live action is solid. For story telling in action game, it's probably hard to beat. But 12 hours for AU$99.. that's just far too expensive. Also 75gig download for the video pack? how is this video set 75gig? But great action, story, graphics and audio.I just wish it was about 3 - 4 times the size. Maybe forgo the time and budget for live acting and try tell this story in game with in game render?

Great fun, looks good, sounds better, is really just a generic collect 'em all" sandbox, but it works well regardless. The 10,000BC setting really appealed to me, perhaps it's not for everyone. It's high fantasy anyway, with bombs, weapons and so on that are not historically accurate. For a unnumbered FarCry, it's very good, more enjoyable than 4 in some ways, in my opinion.

Dying Light0
Feb 1, 2015
Edit: This game wipes progress due to a game save issue. Any fun you may have had will be wiped. As there is no 'manual save' you may play some 8 - 10 or 30 hours and not realise it NEVER SAVED, or write over your save. So when you return you could be back at the start. There's no incentive to play the game again as you can't be sure it won't do this again. Techland know about it.. Will they give us free Live Gold like we got for Master Chief? Overall Dying Light is good fun. I've played 8 - 10 hours. Progress tells me I've completed 5%. The strong points of the game are: it's pretty, especially the 'vistas' as you parkour. It can be very intense at night with the zombies in chase. The story, although generic, is fine. The weapons are ok, traps entertaining. Parkour is fun... The immediate issue I noticed was the obvious repetition of design and graphics. 5 or 6 or even more buildings in a row with identical interiors. Same dead zombie in the same corner in each house. Inside the buses is almost always the same, same loot drops etc. Couple this with generic side missions and it's off putting. I suspect that they cut corners to save time? I guess many comparable open world games you can't enter the buildings or interact with their contents. There's only a (small) set list of zombie models. Rather like the buildings, it contributes to blandness. The climbing ****... You frequently miss grab points, at least before ranking up a bit. The controls are a bit clumsy however some alternate control schemes feel better, I got used to the default scheme before changing but another few hours will be fine. To be fair it would hard to construct a visually and mechanically pleasing parkour experience in first person, Dying Light does an good job of this. Most of the content in this game you have probably played elsewhere. As a hybrid of Dead rising 3, assassins creed unity... It's probably inferior to both, although it's better looking. Being first person changes the feel significantly compared to these games. In hindsight I'd definitely still buy Dying Light.. Maybe not for $99aud.
