Entertainment Weekly
The sadistically hilarious summer fave returns for a new run filled with snowy, wintery obstacles (''Nana's House'' and ''Snowplow Sweeper'' are ice-cold brutal) and John Henson's subversively salty quips.

Philadelphia Inquirer
Wipeout does have a crackpot obstacle course and its own sometimes hilarious commentators, John Anderson from ESPN's SportsCenter and John Henson from Talk Soup.

Newsday
ABC hasn't provided much in advance to watch--smart network!--but there were some clips for Wipeout, and they were (seriously) hilarious.

Time
Even the contestants seemed to be trying too hard, screaming and making wisecracks for the camera, as if coaxed by the producers or, more likely, their agents.

Newark Star-Ledger
If you've watched ABC at all this summer, you've essentially seen all Wipeout has to offer: people of various shapes, sizes and ages all falling face-first into the mud while trying to complete an obstacle course that's been designed to be all but impossible to finish unscathed.

Slate
Wipeout dresses up the usual network idiocy with cable-style snark (think Best Week Ever) and an exuberant lack of decency that's pure Internet--a TMZ-esque disregard for mercy, an anonymous blog commentor's sense of self-restraint.

Variety
Wipeout, a knockoff of a U.S. spoof of a Japanese show (how meta is that?), feels mean-spirited and heavy on rim shots.

I loved almost everything about the old show. I adored the style, the fast pace, the quirky contestants and hosts. The new show brings almost each one of these subjects down. The modern style is a miss for me, especially when the contestants are first introduced to the audience. A long tangent about them goes on and on, when I just want to see them face plant onto the floor. This brings me to the pace of the new show. The pacing has slowed down tremendously, especially because of the contestant introductions. This is why there is only 3 rounds instead of four. The contestants are still quirky which I enjoy, but the hosts. Oh no. I think Nicole Byer was not herself in this role. I love Nicole Byers in Nailed It. Her wacky humor is what I live for in that show. But in Wipeout you can really tell that she was not involved in her dialogue which is very saddening. John Cena I just feel as if he is a lesser version of a John Henson. That’s what I think about the new as a whole too. A lesser version. I hope this show changes for the better.
