It's every bit as good as "The Sopranos" was in its prime.

The Take is powerful and seamless. Wonderful, sociopathic performance by Tom Hardy. My only complaint is that it's unrelentingly bleak and dark. Could really use some black humor a la The Sopranos. I've only seen the first two episodes (only ones available so far on Netflix). Hope future episodes have some humor to balance out the antics of whack job Freddy.

An average crime melodrama with Tom Hardy as a stand out sociopath. The question is why are these bad guys putting up with this strutting loose cannon? We all wait impatiently to watch him get his just desserts.

It's nasty, hard-core stuff--a tale well told.

The takeaway from The Take again proves an old showbiz saw: Cast the right actor as a mobster, and being bad can be pretty damn good.

You can feel Hardy and his mad energy desperately pushing The Take along, but you can hear the gears grinding.

I think it's grossly overrated by the reviewers. The Take is just a watchable melodrama of a very average quality. Comparing it to The Sopranos is very misguided and weird, they exist on a totally different planes of artistry.
