It’s a tough role to pull off but Anjli Mohindra hits just the right note, her principles colliding with pragmatism, as Grace gets to grips with St Jory’s dark secrets. What starts out as a missing-person cold case soon heats up into a feverish mix of mystery and philosophical debate.

I really enjoyed it. There is an attitude and a dry, dark wit to Toby Whithouse’s thriller, and the cast are high pedigree.

There's still just enough mismatched elements that make it something of a disappointment, but thanks to its combination of intriguing mystery, direct sense of humor, and excellent cast, it's still mostly worth a watch.

Heavy handed and entirely implausible. The character of Grace is fine. But she has to battle blatant racism and a nefarious cult in a remote island community all by herself while searching for a lost child. The music is constantly foreboding but there is little suspense. The odd introduction of Lady Heather just confuses things. She needs to return to the greener yet color blind pastures of Bridgerton.
