I'd say that The Fall is a deeply moral crime thriller, but that description is too boring for a drama that's electric with suspense and erotic tension and pulpy cliff-hangers. Anderson's performance is riveting.

The stately new season unfolds as though it has never heard the phrase “hurry up,” closely tracking a serial killer who is no longer killing, a police department that makes no mistakes, and a narrative that contains no red herrings.

This show is unapologetically feminist, but it still manages to be compelling and draw in the viewer. The final episode was electrifying, and the show poses a lot of questions about morality, darkness and addiction.

The Fall's second season continues where the first left off with detective Gibson (Gillian Anderson) still on the hunt for serial killer Paul Spector (Jamie Dorman). Avoiding all the usual clichés associated with the genre it makes for a fascinating and tense watch throughout and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

Frankly put, [Jamie Dornan's Spector is] boring, and not in the fascinating way the show itself can be in its aforementioned moments.... Luckily, Anderson is there to save him, both as an ideal to strive for--as fans will see in the season's 90-minute finale--and a redeeming grace for the show.

Review of season 2. This show is great - in small glimpses. It seems to rely too much on these extremely slow moving scenes where the camera is basically just doing close up shots and nothing is going on for what feels like several minutes (I actually think it is). It's one of those shows you can watch while doing the dishes and you wouldn't miss anything of interest. Several times you have dialog scenes with dialog that is basically just describing a scene we saw playing out earlier on. There's a lot of really silly decision making going on at all times. Clearly designed to stretch the show. Basically like this: Something is almost about to happen that would create a breakthrough, but then something intervenes, seemingly out of thin air, and the thing doesn't happen after all and you have to wait to a later episode for them to get the chance again. Just utterly frustrating to watch! As with season 1; there's great acting all around. It's the script and the pacing that's lacking.

After watching Season 1, the second season is a disappointment. There were many wildly unrealistic events, and the pace slowed to a crawl.

Season 1 of The Fall was interesting, well acted, reasonably well written and making the most of the show location, Belfast NI. Second season is a big let down, the characters turn into stereotypes and the pacing of the whole thing slows to a crawl. Really, you could edit down the 6 hours of season 2 into a 120 minute film and not miss much.
