First, many of these reviews from legacy media are embarrrasingly low IQ. They write sub-literate slop yet simultaneously can't contain their contempt for the peasants as evidenced by their insufferable moralizing. It's a solid series. Formulaic? Yeah, but we went in already knowing that, and it's flaws are made up for by endearing performances from the whole cast, especially the chemistry between wilson and the kid.

Not one for cynics but for everyone else it's a heart-warming, joyous show. I've always liked Owen Wilson but this show really gives him a chance to show his range. There is a lot of poignancy with his character and he nails it. He is the heart of the show but his relationship with Santi is the driver (pun intended). Looking forward to season 2 but hope they keep the 'family' and don't pit them against each other. Overall, loved it.

After watching Happy Gilmore 2 recently, if you are in the mood for more golf entertainment, this is 10x better. That's not to say this is perfect, but it's a significant improvement. Stick is an up and down show with signs **** show, and other times, roll your eyes moments. There are signs **** TV series here if they let it.

I came to this show for some feel good dramedy, in that regard the show delivers. However, it’s a bit cliché and worst of all, there is some stuck up, politically correct girl who **** the main guy. Her dialogue is so cringy. There was one scene where the main character, (Owen Wilson) gets accused by her of sexual harassment just because he said (I think we can help each other out) it was cringy AF. There’s also a scene where she patronizes the characters for eating meat, and actually CONVINCES the main boy to turn vegan on the spot after knowing her for 2 days. Major cringe

Terrible acting, terrible casting, terrible writing, and an insult to anyone who has ever played a round of golf or watched one on tv. Still watched, but it was bad.

This show has so much going for it. Owen is great. The writing is smart and fun. I think they handled the golf perfectly. I'd like a little less of the Zero character, but all in all it is a great show!! I think it's the best Apple has made in a long time.

Great show! Found it late and binged the first 7. Owen is at his best. Funny but not stupid. Heartwarming. I'm in!

A good idea completely ruined by political, DEI vomit. There is a plot, but it's buried in every imaginable kind of ideological nonsense. Too bad.

I’ve usually enjoyed Owen Wilson’s hesitant comic style, but this time he’s just grating. That’s partially because this “comedy” isn’t. It’s a lot of frustrated encounters, hoping to be funny. Wilson plays a golf star, whose on-camera meltdown ruined his career. When he meets a promising young teen (Peter Dager), he sets off to make him a winner. Of course, their road trip had potential for fun and surprises, but it develops along expected lines. All of the performances are fine, it’s just the predictable script that never provides any depth. Marc Maron, as the caddie, adds his usual gruff type, while Mariana Treviño, who was the best thing about “A Man Called Otto” (my review), never gets any comic opportunities. Fortunately, the actual golf footage is minimal and usually in a montage. The series is trying to be earnest and maybe even heartwarming, but Owen’s constant whining gets in the way of any potential empathy or even fun. (Review based on 6 out of ten 30-minute eps)

A decent sports comedy with fair character arcs... but one. That one is unfortunately a leading character named Santi. He basically drives the plotline into the ground - like hammering a tee - by constantly complaining, finger pointing, and being an interruptive little **** bag that gives no one the time to counter his opinions when their overall motives were not necessarily self-serving. Every other character has interesting backgrounds and some have realistic goals, but overall, those characters are tarnished by a spoiled brat with no interest in the future of their friends and loved ones. About half way through S1, it's obvious that "everything will be fine", which leaves very little anticipation. Santi is horribly unlikeable, which will most likely result in a rather predictable ending to the first season with a similar taste.

Owen Wilson and Marc Maron are the only good aspect of the show. Instead of being a light hearthed easy watch it turns into a gender politics seminar.

Stick is a light, well-paced dramedy that doesn’t break new ground, but still manages to be enjoyable. The story follows a familiar structure, the classic mentor and lost-kid dynamic, but it’s executed with warmth and sincerity. The show clearly targets a younger audience, especially Gen Z, with Santi’s storyline leaning into that vibe. But there’s also something there for millennials, especially in Stick’s arc. The contrast between the two characters adds a nice balance, and gives the show just enough emotional depth to stay interesting. Owen Wilson brings his usual laid back charm to the role. The actor who plays Santi brings a lot of energy and heart to the screen, making their connection believable and easy to root for. What makes the show a bit more compelling is how none of the characters are too clean or too broken. They all carry personal baggage, some emotional, some psychological, and that keeps things from feeling too flat. The supporting cast holds up well, adding texture even if they aren’t always central to the plot. It’s designed to be entertaining and emotionally accessible, and in that sense, it succeeds.

Heavily rips off Happy Gilmore... Steals dialogue, steals the WOOSH sound effect of the ball being hit far, steals the general premise, it crosses the line between paying hommage to and ripping off without batting an eye. Pretty sure the pitch was "Happy Gilmore but Ted Lasso vibes" and some gormless executive banged the table and shouted I LOVE IT. Honestly 5/10 solely for Owen Wilson, he's taking a poorly written, poorly casted, and poorly acted rip off and putting it all on his back.

The dialogue sounds like it was written by AI. Pure garbage. Owen Wilson is doing his thing, the actors are doing their best but nothing can save this script. Don't waste you're time. People who golf don't subject yourself to any additional pain. I couldn't break 90 again today...
