Star Search (2026)

We wish the new Star Search had some better pacing, and that the judges were a skosh tougher on the acts than they are. But for the most part we watched and voted along with the rest of the audience watching live, and rooted for those we liked. That’s the sign of an overall good show.

Technical issues reportedly marred the live broadcast, including glitchy video quality and poor sound. Netflix seems to have subsequently patched these up – but no amount of technical wizardry can paper over the fact that Star Search is a dated format and that, in blowing up to supersize, Netflix has also magnified its flaws.
