It allows us to know and care for these characters even when they try to hold us at arm’s length, by embracing their truths in quiet moments that connect us to their loneliness, uncertainty, and ultimately their hope.

Rectify has established itself as a trip worth taking, and for a discriminating few, at least, the protagonist’s slow road to redemption remains an utterly absorbing one.

A rare gem of a TV show. Very grateful that this got made and allowed to run until its resolution. Vastly underappreciated as far as viewing figures are concerned I fear. Great acting, writing and directing. A deep dive into the human soul, prepared with loving care and talent

There's not a bad performance to be had in Rectify, which even features Hal Holbrook as Holden's former lawyer. But it's Young, whose character veers from a deceptive lethargy to moments of dry humor, who carries every scene he's in as he finds ways to allow us glimpses of the man still imprisoned behind the mask.

While Rectify may rightly be called a drama, it doesn’t feel like any other.

The Australian actor is again in Emmy-caliber form, delivering a gripping character study of a man who isn't comfortable in his own skin.

Rectify is an ambitious and eloquent series, vivid in its portraiture of family and local citizens who don't know quite what to make of Daniel (a proclivity the film seems to share)--assurance enough of an engrossing six hours.

For about an episode and a quarter, it’s very good television. But over the rest of its six-episode first season it resembles nothing so much as a bad indie film, the kind of slow and tepid bummer that used to fill Sundance’s late nights and afternoons when it was a full-time movie channel.

One of the best, most truly meaningful shows ever on TV. It is criminal how little attention that it received, it is a rose amongst garbage, and Aden Young is heartbreaking and unforgettable.

The show Rectify is overrated and would have been much better suited as a short series rather than being stretched out into four full seasons. That said, the first season was good, and the second had some enjoyable episodes. However, by the third season, it became clear that the show was being dragged out far more than necessary. The fourth season, which I consider the worst, really crossed the line. It was unnaturally **** main issue with the series is its extremely slow pace, which can often make it feel boring, especially if you're watching it across multiple seasons. The situation just gets worse with each season. Another problem is that some of the characters were quite annoying, particularly Daniel’s sister. I genuinely disliked every scene she appeared in. she's always irritated, angry, and complaining, as if she's still stuck in her teenage years.Another frustrating aspect is the way most characters talk, especially the protagonist, Daniel. He speaks slowly and softly, and most of what he says is vague, meaningless rambling. But the biggest issue is that the majority of the events in the show have nothing to do with the actual plot. There’s barely anything that moves the story forward. Instead, most of the scenes are just gloomy conversations between characters, followed by tears and sad background **** be fair, I did enjoy the first season or two. But honestly, I don’t get why this show is rated so highly. To me, it’s just an average series at best.*C*

The sister comes on too breathy and posing as an archetype of a sexually needy Southern White woman. She’s got all the accessories, the print cotton dress. The long flowing hair. The clueless lack of understanding that her brother has been living in a state of sensory deprivation. Modify her character and you have a show.
