Keep Breathing

Barrera sells the idea that she can absolutely survive, making her resourcefulness in the situation almost plausible. Now we just need to see where the plot goes, which will play out in those flashbacks. ... One of the things we like about the six-episode limited series is that the episodes are all around 30 minutes, so you’re not seeing Liv wandering around the wilderness for hours on end.

A show with so many good elements. It's too bad that “Keep Breathing” can't figure out how to put them all together.

Once you start "Breathing," there's a curiosity about how it all turns out, especially since the time demands aren't that daunting. That's not an awful bargain, but if you're waiting for it to get better, well, don't hold your breath.

Where its predecessors were inventive in their approach, Keep Breathing plods along, tediously unrealistic and painfully predictable. You might even find yourself rooting for Liv’s demise in an effort to stir up some excitement.

Rather than perch on the edge of your seat, you are more likely to drift off gently to sleep, perhaps dreaming of a pleasant holiday in a log cabin, and wake up when it is all over.

In all, “Keep Breathing” is, despite some nice moments, fairly forgettable — making its great achievement its willingness not to keep viewers on the hook for hours longer than necessary. Sometimes, that’s impressive enough.

Even if Keep Breathing is entirely Liv’s story, a lot of time is spent on secondary characters so weakly written that none of the supporting performances emerges as even the least bit memorable. ... Barrera has to carry Keep Breathing in a way that no single actor in Yellowjackets has to do, and she nails that level of heavy lifting.

The first episode is great and pulled me in. Gave me castaway vibes. After that though the show spends far too long on unimportant flashbacks that have no relevance to the main story. There is some flashbacks that create good background to her survival knowledge. But overall you could cut out 70% of this show and it would be a far better movie than a limited series.

Melissa Barrera stars as a New York attorney who ends up alone in the Canadian wilderness after her plane crashes. This leads to the inevitable environment and survival challenges. Unfortunately, the filmmakers thought it would be more impactful if they spent more than half the time in flashbacks. These are supposed to flesh out the character's emotional journey, but they add more tedium than anything. The endurance ordeals sometimes push credibility or coincidence, but there is a decent trek to be appreciated. Ultimately, this could have been a solid thriller as a 2-hour feature, but the addition of the past memories dilutes most of the suspense. NOTE: This film is also listed some places as Breathe.

What a letdown. I like the parts where she is trying to survive the wilderness but this flashback stuff is irritating. So boring.

This actress has only 2 facial expressions. The plot reads like a short book written for high school Spanish class (Las drogas en su guitarra!). I'm not gonna subject myself to this mess.

There went 6 hours of my life I'll never get back. Boring and questionable content. If you like metaphoric movies than keep you wondering, then watch this. I didn't enjoy it at all. Just my opinion.
