With the introduction of both Jason Alexander and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as themselves, season two is the first season to introduce a season long arc, a rather meta plot about an actor being frustrated with his career after appearing on a hugely successful sitcom. The excellent writing/improvising ensures that whilst this gives audiences more of an investment in the characters, the show never loses it’s comedic edge.
