If you’re a long-time fan of Chucky, then you probably already have the series set on your DVR. But even if you’re not a long-time supporter, this is the perfect slasher series for you to watch this Halloween season.

Amazing series. It is great at expanding the series themes as a modern work, inserting elements of a personal story and making use of the longer format while keeping the old school charm of the early films. Heavily recommended if you are a fan of the films and of course not an alt-right moron.

If you're a Child's Play than you owe yourself to check it out. Yes the main character is gay; so is the creator of Chucky and it was clearly important to him. Yes some of the writing is cheesy and some of the logic of the show requires some suspension of disbelief, but it's freaking Chucky. I can't wait for season 2.

We don't get a lot of Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif), but I have a hunch we'll see more of her during part 2. Regardless, "Chucky" is still one of the best horror shows on TV and he's got my vote for four more years (at least).

Like Starz’s similarly lighthearted Ash vs Evil Dead, Chucky works because it’s reverential and yet not consumed with rehashing that which came before. It won’t win over many new converts, but anyone with a soft spot for the cheery maniac doll will no doubt get a kick out of his latest reign of terror.

Chucky adds some fun story elements to the “murdering doll” dynamic, bringing the franchise back to it’s earliest days, when we found out how Charles Lee Ray became a belligerent, knife-wielding, redheaded doll.

Does it make much sense? No. But it’s fun to see it play out with a mischievous sense of anything-goes silliness. Mancini and Dourif have been doing this for so long, they seem to have nailed down an understanding of what makes Chucky fun. And when Chucky [the series] follows suit, it is too.

The soapy humdrum of these stock characters’ lives is of negative interest and the show only predictably comes crashing to life when Chucky, still manically voiced by Brad Dourif, is wreaking havoc.

I'm having a great time with this show! I don't get why people are calling this show "woke" or "virtue signaling". The creator of Chucky is gay and probably wanted to write something from the perspective of his younger self. A lot of LGBTQ+ people watch and enjoy this franchise for the reason that Mancini was never afraid to express ideas from (t)his community through the Child's Play movies (Chucky has a transgender child for God's sake). If having a gay main character makes this show "woke" or "virtue signaling" I would do some research regarding this franchise and its creator. And after that, I would f*** right off.

Solid continuation of the Chucky IP with some annoying aspects. A solid 40-50% of it is a teen drama full of tropes about being a gay kid in America. That hasn’t been a hundred times in the last decade… Know how you normalize gay people in society? By not making their sexuality the crux of your characters personalities or as a way to drive the plot. The fact the original creator was gay could have influence upon this decision, but it really does feel forced and inauthentic. The dialogue is questionable (it’s a slasher in theory so can’t expect much), but the acting is actually decent with few exceptions. Plenty of gore, lore, funny kills, and and black comedy. Irreverent, but still colors within PC lines. Worth a single binge, but like “Seed of Chucky” probably not worth revisiting.

It amazes me how many people are fighting for Mancini's right to show off his childhood using his series. The show itself is somewhat enjoyable, though there is a little bit too much over acting in the lead characters facial expressions, and let's see is a bit over the top with her mean girls impression. But ultimately it is entertaining. But disliking the let's find gay love perspective the way it's pushed so much in this series does tend to wear thin after a while, and if that makes me not work enough, or something stupid like that, it is what it is. People don't need this in their entertainment. Mancini can go do a book or a documentary if he truly wants to talk about her childhood, and honestly no one would really care. Hence the reason he does it in his Chucky series

This isn't a show about Chucky. It's a woke teenage drama just drenched in angst. It just happens to have Chucky in it. By the middle of S1 I was rooting for Chucky. I can't remember when last I've watched anything with so many characters that I not only didn't care about but just wanted to die. Light on horror and scares. If you're a Child's Play fan just skip this and enjoy the franchise as it is.

It is a terrible show, the actors cannot act, the worst acting I have ever seen. The main reason I hate shows or movies starring kids, it's because they can't act. The story is meh, nothing great, kinda boring.
