Ignacio Ferreras's traditionally animated Wrinkles is a beautiful, subtle horror movie about the rigors of old age, made all the more horrifying because it will happen to all of us fortunate enough to live a long life.

Unfolding in simple yet wonderfully expressive hand-drawn frames, the film’s unsparingly observant plot depicts the slide into senility with empathy and imagination.

Although nothing here quite matches the moving, life-in-five-minutes montage in Pixar’s “Up,” one swooping flashback sequence comes very close.

It’s a compact and obliquely moving film, deftly constructed to let the dying of the light arrive, not as sunset, but a kind of dawn.

This movie has the same desolate quality as Philip Larkin's poem The Building, and yet it is tender and lovable, too.

Ultimately, though, Wrinkles doesn’t offer the aesthetic rewards necessary to make its sad material compelling.

A sensitive and extremely strong animation that is not afraid of showing the reality of life in your own ending. Is good to say that "Wrinkles" was released in 2011, being quite original at that time. The movie shows the life in its most difficult moment, exploring the friendship, the horrible Alzheimer and the strength (yes, stregth) of the old people. What is beautiful in the old people is that they are the people who have more experience and memories than anybody. - Imagine yourself as an old person, remembering everything that you've lived and knowing that is close to the end. It's a little disturbing and nostalgic and "Wrinkles" gives you these feelings. An amazing movie. (Sorry for the english mistakes).
