I found this to be an increasingly tense film. Its not a 'regular drama' as such - its, I suppose, a little understated but I found myself easily feeling sorry for the main character. I can't imagine having to be in her shoes, trying to get colleagues to change their mind in time to re-vote on the issue, with hopes of somehow saving her job. There are some quite good low key French dramas and this is one of them, due to the good performances and dialogue, plus it being relatively thought provoking. If your looking for a fast action packed film then this won't be for you but otherwise its certainly worth a watch.

What an amazing movie. This is proof you don’t need car crashes and explosions. This is a real, emotional, human story. Loved it all around!

This gritty slice of social realism works both as an exploration of human nature --how essentially egoistic it is but also capable of altruism-- and as a character study of a person on the verge of another nervous breakdown while facing a dilemma. This is also a showcase of Marion Cotillard's undisputed acting prowess. It's great that I share the same birthday date with her :) The Dardenne brothers' use of wide, long shot and handheld camera is simply outstanding. They further add up to the honest and realistic sense of the film. That said, I couldn't help feeling that there's some kind of familiarity because of how schematic the plot seems to be. (8/10)

that bird singing.. Deux Jours, Une Nuit An idea that is barely of a daily episode, is projected with such fine details and exquisite writing that one cannot not feel for the characters revolving around it and drown into their world. Deux Jours, Une Nuit is an epitome of an 'out-of-the-box' concept, creativity and its originality that art is supposed to offer the viewers. The writer-director duo, Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne are familiar and of their art and the world they have created which even though is confined within few characters but still explores large part of the space in it. Marion Catillard breeds vulnerability, loss and affliction and pours it onto the screen with independent wings of hope that doesn't and won't need a stage or support from anyone; she is a revelation in this one. Deux Jours, Une Nuit is written with passion, executed and edited by such fine talents and performed and projected by a skilled actor that ups the ante of this feature onto the major league.

Two Days, One NightYou’ve seen this You liked this film Two Days, One Night 2014 ★★★★½ Added 06 Feb, 2016 Two Days, One Nights is a typically extraordinary social drama favoring subjects like work, family and money value, and mixed with the thriller of anxiety against time. Marion Cotillard delivers one of her best performances to date in a film that unfortunately did not receive the attention it deserved.

This film is about the economics of the economy, the impact on its workers and the inhuman decisions one has to make to survive. It is also kind of an exploration about recovering from mental illness, but not completely. Ultimately its about overcoming. Other than its insane premise, unbelievable in its all too mundane believability, it is a mostly pat story arch told with "realism" and a splendid performance from Marion Cotillard and not much more. It feels like the premise was concocted first and the characters (and by extension the mental illness) and ending tacked on to make it workable.

This is one of the dullest movies I've ever watched. Even the premise is dull. There's no real exposition at any point, which does not help. This woman goes around asking her coworkers to vote so she can keep her job. If they vote against her, they get pay bonuses. The coworkers say "yes" or "no." Then at the end, they vote. That's it. That's the whole movie.

Two Days, One Night is an entirely human experience and an exercise in compassion and empathy. Featuring a stirring lead performance from Marion Cotillard, the film is excellently written and directed by the Dardenne brothers. A subtle, flow of life type film, the movie really manages to hit home, even when our protagonist faces resistance. An entirely difficult choice is presented to each character in the film and the film does a great job portraying a fair and balanced look at that question. The film manages to also be a very good look at depression, as well as being quite thrilling. Real life drama has never been so thrilling before, yet this one has you on the edge of your seat waiting to see the outcome and how our characters will react. Overall, Two Days, One Night is a great film that is an ode to compassion and helping your neighbor.

If I had two days and one night to get back my job, I would be amazed knowing that this movie hit the fuse for great heartbreaking moments coming up and then soft them down with heartwarming moments.

"Two Days, One Night" is an incredibly sensitive and thought-provoking film about empathy in a reality where consumerism and individualism prevails. One of the Dardenne's best.

Halfway through the film (when I gave into boredom and turned it off) I'd yet to see any dramatic tension, strong performances or even awkward conversation. Instead, a woman made sluggish, whiny and morose by her mental illness plods from one banal setting to the next (a hallway; a convenience story) to have nearly identical conversations with equally uninteresting coworkers. We're supposed to care about these scenes because her job is at stake, but the film fails to establish that Sandra deserves that job. I wouldn't vote for her.

What an amazing movie! What an amazing actress! I just felt immersed in the film; beginning to end. Watching Sandra being such a flawed and damaged worker fight for her job (and emotional health) was truly an experience to treasure. Watching Marion Cotillard delivering one of her best is a highlight of cinema. Besides, this film has such an independent feel to it that just makes me fall in love more. So looking forward to the directors' next project.

Realistic, restrained but powerful, a wide range of reactions and human behaviours showed, and a very natural performance by Marion Cotillard. You may worry at first about the topic because it is not easy. But it´s the opposite, you start immersing in the film more and more and rooting for the characters and some others who appear on screen. Fantastic film with small budget. Nothing else needed.

Here, Marion gives another outstanding performance. She blew away my mind and my heart with her lovely and tender character, Sandra. Two Days, One Night is a small film, but it is powerful, great cast and a very touching story. This film IS Marion, don't hesitate about watch it because it's incredible her work.

Two Days, One Night can be a little bit tough to watch because of the repeated scenes and Cotillard crying the whole time but give it a shot. It's not only a story about a woman who has just recovered from depression and find out she can lose her job but also a story about strength and the importance of love and family. This is something that everybody can connect to, thanks to Dardenne's touching script and Cotillard's stunning performance.

A small but fascinating moral tale. Marion Cotillard is stunning as always. The movies feels a bit too much like a moral dilemma exercise, but it's effective.

Against their usual star-eschewing policy (although Cécile De France in THE KID WITH A BIKE 2011, 8/10, is quite a bankable name, or at least in her motherland Belgium), Dardenne brothers has embraced one of the most internationally acclaimed and stylish francophone film star presently, Marion Cotillard, to their latest work, strips out all her outer glamour to Sandra, a working class cosmetics-free mother of two children, who has just recovered from a spell of depression, and has to fight for her job through a thorny vote imposed on her other 16 co-workers by their capitalistic superior, they can either vote for a 1000 euro bonus each person or keeping Sandra in the company. After a rigged vote, 13 to 3 for the bonus, Sandra and her friend Juliette (Salée) manage to a re-vote on Monday, so Sandra has a weekend to visit her colleges one by one, tries to change their mind and fix her future. keep reading my review on my blog, google: cinema omnivore, thanks

On Friday afternoon, a factory worker (Marion Cotillard) is told that she'll be laid off on Monday if her colleagues vote for their bonuses instead of her. She has the weekend to visit each of them and state her case. To complicate matters, she's recovering from a serious depression. Each encounter adds a layer of humanity to her plight, but the drama is diluted by so much footage of her walking from house to house. Although it's never dull, the pace is deliberate and the emotions are often underplayed. Cotillard (nominated for an Oscar), is convincing, but the brilliance of her performance eludes me. This will be best appreciated by those who enjoy a quiet character study in the foreign film style.

Despite a capable (though somewhat-overrated) performance by Marion Cotillard and some thoughtful social messages, this exercise in narrative repetition grows tiresome as the film wears on, offering audiences fewer rewards than what the picture's premise seems to promise. Even with a scant runtime of only 1:35, the story tries the patience of viewers with the most resilient of attention spans. Wait for this one to come to DVD or cable before plunking down the cost of a full-priced theater ticket.

Two days, one night, 16 votes, 95 minutes-- I am not a fan of a movie title which telegraphs what we have to countdown to it’s ending. You can pull the bed covers over your head-or take this precious gift we call life by the balls and run with it. Sandra’s pill popping pity full grass roots journey to save her job becomes a repetitive refrain of reach out and touch somebody’s hand. And in a year of addicted and afflicted women in the weakest field of nominees for best actress - Marion Cotilliard’s performance is just good. Scarlett Johansson should be in the running for an original female character in “Under Her Skin.” And why does the Academy have best foreign film but not best foreign actor/actress category? And if an Aussie or Brit plays American what is that considered?

That is cinema at its best. Down to earth but eventually uplifting, extraordinary perfomances than ignite one's feeling and ability for empathy. A real life thriller which doesn't underestimate the viewer, nor tries to patronize . Unforgettable experience

A uniquely simple idea makes for unusual albeit limited cinema. The story is of one woman's attempt to get her job back in the period of time stipulated by the title. To do this she has to convince her fellow workers to fore go their bonus in order for her to be reinstated. Marion Cotillard is the film's ace card and she gives a perfectly judged, nuanced performance elevating the slight material to a higher plane than it may have otherwise achieved. Unfortunately, the body of the film is, by the very nature of its content, to repetitive to really excite. Most of the central act shows Cotillard making house calls in an attempt to rally co-workers to her cause. Ultimately, though, these events leave one only mildly interested rather than compelled.
